March 3, 2015 at 11:04 am in reply to: What Do I Need To Change In The CSS File To Achieve This? #143061Lauren @ OnceCoupledMember
Judging from the new demo (http://demo.studiopress.com/eleven40/) you'd need to change
.sidebar .widget { margin-bottom: 40px; }
to a smaller number.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberThis is something you'd change via CSS, and won't add to your load time. You can find some information on styling text here: http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_text.asp

February 23, 2015 at 8:53 pm in reply to: Parallax Page Title Bar – Change colour on certain pages #141968Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberPages have unique body classes you could use to accomplish this. Using your browser inspector to find the proper class for each, you'd have something like:
.page-id-2690 .title-bar, .page-id-150 .title-bar { background-color: gold; }
Alternatively, you could apply a special class to these pages, and then use something simpler like:
.elite-page .title-bar

February 19, 2015 at 8:11 am in reply to: Got header banner Image on pages, but doesn't appear on blog? #141297Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberI assume you're specifying
is_page('blog')
withinif( has_post_thumbnail() && is_page() ) :
? And this performs improperly, while other scenarios are working?Have you read through the documentation for http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/is_page? The parameter within
is_page()
needs to be Page ID, Page Title or Page Slug -- not the page template.Could be your problem -- hope it helps.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberYes, you can use @media queries. Your theme probably already has some at the end of your style.css file.

February 10, 2015 at 6:03 pm in reply to: Remove text that fires with every post in a certain category #140409Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberThe first place I'd check is your functions.php file. Have you tried that?

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberBoth of these changes could be done in a custom.css file and enqueued (if the theme doesn't have one already). This way, even if the theme were to be updated, your changes would be safe and easy to restore.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberEither solution is going to take CSS. You can put "connect" under "email" in one widget area and change the styles of that area so that each widget is in it's own white box (instead of the widget area defining one box) or you can put both widgets in their own widget area. You'll need to float bottomright to the right and float lowerbottomleft to the left, as well as clear: none.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberIs there a reason you're creating a new widget area for it, instead of just adding a second widget into the area that's above it?

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberWhich two widgets are you referring to? I'm seeing three at the top side-by-side, two in the middle side-by-side, and one at the bottom - far left.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberGlad I was able to learn something here, too. Perhaps it is a setting inside Yoast... one of my sites using Yoast doesn't have this happening, while another does.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberIt's a link, so it won't be affected by the header/footer text color, if you try defining that. This large block on line 1668 controls it, so you'll want to pull out the CSS selectors for just the header and footer links, and add those to your style sheet with
color: #000;
defined..parallax-pro-blue .button, .parallax-pro-blue .button:hover, .parallax-pro-blue .genesis-nav-menu a, .parallax-pro-blue .home-odd a:hover, .parallax-pro-blue .site-footer a, .parallax-pro-green .button, .parallax-pro-green .button:hover, .parallax-pro-green .genesis-nav-menu a, .parallax-pro-green .home-odd a:hover, .parallax-pro-green .site-footer a, .parallax-pro-orange .button, .parallax-pro-orange .button:hover, .parallax-pro-orange .genesis-nav-menu a, .parallax-pro-orange .home-odd a:hover, .parallax-pro-orange .site-footer a, .parallax-pro-pink .button, .parallax-pro-pink .button:hover, .parallax-pro-pink .genesis-nav-menu a, .parallax-pro-pink .home-odd a:hover, .parallax-pro-pink .site-footer a

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberWell, like I suggested in my original post, "In general, you want to find the least-specific CSS selector that will accomplish what you need." I would use a browser inspector to find this.
Without seeing your site, there's honestly nothing more anyone could do for you -- you didn't even provide what theme you were using, so we're just donating our free time to help point you in a maybe-helpful direction, which is sort of like grasping at straws.
I'd recommend being more specific in your original posts, and you'll probably get better responses to what you're trying to ask. It might also help you get some responses to your previous, unanswered questions.

Lauren

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberOh, btw, you could probably just use inline styles inside your widget areas. I wouldn't recommend it, of course.
So, you'd insert something like this into your widget area:
<h2 style="font-size: 30px; color: red; text-align: center;">Header</h2><p style="font-size: 16px; color: blue; text-align: center;">Test</p>
