I'd check that you aren't missing a closing bracket somewhere, causing all the code below it not to register. I usually do this by adding
body { color: red; }
to the VERY bottom of my style.css file, and seeing if it takes effect. If so, my file is reading fine. If not, I move it up slowly until I can pinpoint the general area of the error.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberWhy are there two end closures?
One of those is closing the selector, and the other is closing the media query. For example:@media only screen and (max-width: 1139px) { <-- A opening .sidebar-secondary { <-- B opening width: 150px; } <-- B closure } <-- A closure
Where do you see line numbers?
I see line numbers when I few your stylesheet. I use Google Chrome, but there's a good tutorial for using Firebug: http://www.studiopress.com/tips/using-firebug.htmHow to center logo and widget area?
1. Delete the extra end closure before your first media query.
2. Add the following to a media query:.header-image .site-title a { background-position-x: center !important; }
3. Adjust the padding of your widget area in a media query.

If so, you could turn off automatic injection into posts, and instead place the shortcode under your content in Genesis Simple Hooks.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberGlad you got it worked out! Yeah, that happens when you're missing something like a closing bracket.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberYou can fix it by deleting that line from your style.css file.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberWordPress sites have permalinks for categories. An example would be domain.com/category/fishing. If you're trying to do it manually, and option would be to just link to that category's archives. Another option would be a plugin such as this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/genesis-featured-content-widget/.
It all depends on what you're really trying to accomplish. 🙂

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberLooking at your logo file, http://definemedia.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/DM-Logo-3.png, there is a bunch of transparent space to the right. Crop it, and it will center. 🙂

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberHey Debbers,
Your header isn't using the built-in title area, but is instead just an image placed into your header area. This is probably the root of most of your problems.
The news ticker you're using is placed into the header-right widget. This element is not full width, as defined by your site's CSS. Instead, it's sitting to the right of an empty "site-title" area that your header image would normally be using.
When you want to add a search widget to your header area, you'd also place it in your header-right widget. Again, this is floating to the right of your empty site-title area, and above your inserted full-width header image.
In order to fix these problems, I would recommend using your functions.php and style.css files to adjust your title-area and upload your logo directly into it. Your search widget can be placed to the right of your logo then, by using your header-right widget area. This whole section can continue to have an orange background by using CSS again. To accomplish the full width news ticker, I'd add a new widget area above your site-title, using the information Brad recommends. Try looking up these tasks separately, and posting a new topic if you need help with any of them. 🙂

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberThe height of the containing element is set to 200px, so it will not decrease with the size of the image. You can do it manually, by adding media queries, as suggested in the previous post. The code provided there should work on your page, but you may need to adjust the height at more regular intervals, and to a different number. For example:
@media only screen and (max-width: 768px) { .custom-background .site-header-banner { height: 128px; } } @media only screen and (max-width: 480px) { .custom-background .site-header-banner { height: 80px; } }

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberLook in your functions file for the line(s) of code found here: http://my.studiopress.com/snippets/header/#remove-widget-area
If you see them, remove them. You may still need to fix the CSS, but this should at least get the widget area to show up in your Dashboard's widget section.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberIt looks like the title has been removed, probably using the functions file. Have you checked there, for something like this?
//* Remove the entry title (requires HTML5 theme support) remove_action( 'genesis_entry_header', 'genesis_do_post_title' );

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberFYI Thanks for this solution SoZo. A little outside-of-the-box thinking; helped me out! I was stuck in the idea of using hooks, but this was just as effective.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberBecause your columns aren't perfectly even in height, so the next block of content is trying to fill that extra space the smaller column leaves.

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberTry putting a

Lauren @ OnceCoupledMemberis_category()
is referring to category archive pages, so it will remove the post meta from pages such as http://www.haleymistler.com/category/illustration. It will not remove post meta from the single posts, such as the one you're linking to.
Reference: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/is_categoryDepending on how your categories are set up, you may instead be looking for
in_category()
or, even better,is_singular( 'foo' )
.
