MemberNot sure why anyone would recommend that you switch to the Parallax theme...but whatever. I took a look at your site, and have to wonder what you mean when you say that your header is "strange." I don't see anything wrong or strange. Can you tell us more about that?

MemberDid you fix this already? I've read your question here, and look at your blog, but I don't understand the problem.

MemberYou're making a great choice if you go with Genesis.
Here's the way it works:
1. You have to have your own domain name and a hosting service.
2. You install WordPress, which is a very simple installation.
3. You buy the Genesis framework through StudioPress. Typically, you will buy a theme from StudioPress, which includes the Genesis framework.
4. You install the Genesis framework in your WordPress installation...same as you would install any other theme.
5. Then you install (and activate) the theme you bought.
6. Then you should start reading the "Theme Setup" notes (instructions) that came with the theme, and start creating your website based on the theme you're using.
In some ways this is easier than what it sounds. In other ways its more complicated than it sounds.
Check out this FAQ for lots more details:
There is always lots of help available on this forum if/when you get stuck.
Good luck.

MemberI just looked at several of your pages, and everything seems to be OK...at least right now. I wonder if some of those ads in the sidebar(s) are hanging up occasionally.

MemberAre you using any kind of caching plugin that might be preventing the changes from showing up?

MemberI'm reasonably sure that Yoast does a good job with SEO, but I think the biggest thing Yoast has going for it is a heavy-duty marketing team who has been very successful in getting influential bloggers to praise the product...and once that happened everyone else believed the hype and wrote the same thing in their own blogs and reviews...and next thing you know, everyone thinks you can't live without Yoast. When I've looked at the plugin it seems overly complex and way too much trouble...at least for my modest needs.

MemberIf this might help someone trying to troubleshoot this, here's what happened when I checked his site:
1. OS X Safari and Chrome, site works OK.
2. iOS8 iPhone Safari, links don't work.
3. iOS8 iPad Safari, links don't work.
4. iOS8 iPhone Chrome, site doesn't load.
5. iOS8 iPad Chrome, site doesn't load.

MemberI'm definitely with Brad on this...I think it's easy to get carried away worrying about SEO while neglecting other more important aspects of your web site and other ways to market your site...the built-in Genesis SEO settings are all you need...as long as you put some thought and some time into it...which you'll have to do with any SEO plugin you get anyway.

MemberLooks like there might be something wrong at the bottom of your "About Me" page. Is there supposed to be a contact form there? What I see there is:

MemberAs long as people are pushing a backup solution, I'll mention the one I like best. I've used it for a few years now and I think it has the best set of features and definitely *THE* best personalized support...and that is BlogVault...and the price is reasonable, too...and no I'm not an employee or affiliate of BlogVault.
P.S. Of course if you already have a good backup service, just stay with that...there's no need to go completely off the deep end with staging sites, etc. just because you're going to change to a different theme.

MemberAlternatively, if you know how to use an FTP application, you can upload the theme Zip file to the "themes" folder inside your "wp-content" folder, and after uploading you can activate it from the Themes page of the Dashboard.

MemberYes, looks like Bob's site did get hacked. It's a very popular site and I guess someone was out to get him...I hope he'll be back online soon.
About your problem: Are you saying that you have the Zip file for your new theme, but you can't upload it to your site? Here's what to do:
Get the theme's Zip file and put it in a place where you know where it is so you can navigate to it later.
In your Dashboard go to Appearance and then Themes, and then in the Themes page you should see a link (near the top) that says "Add New"...then on the next page you look for the link that says "Upload Theme" and click that...and then you click the "Choose File" button...navigate to where you Zip file is...and after that you click the "Install Now" button.
You've been doing that, but it doesn't seem to work? If it doesn't work, can you describe what does happen?

MemberOpinions vary, but basically all you have to do is make sure you have a good, safe backup of your site...lots of ways to do that...then get the new theme, activate, and start working. Expect a lot of things to look very different...but depending on how large your site is it might not be too much work to get things straightened out.
There's an excellent article about this on bobwp.com web site.
http://bobwp.com/happens-change-wordpress-theme/And here's another one that might show you what to expect:
http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-properly-switch-wordpress-themes-on-your-site/P.S. Not sure if something is wrong, but right now I'm temporarily unable to access the BobWP site.

MemberOh, and thanks for the info about how the "Save for Web" works...I would have had no idea about that...totally outside my field of reference...I thought it all just worked with magic or something.

MemberThanks, Erik...so what you're saying is that she should disable Photon and see if that makes the difference?
(I've never used Photon so not sure how it works.)

MemberThanks Erik...not sure why you're speaking in Greek today...ha ha ha...all that pngquant and jpegoptim and stuff like that...but OK... 🙂
I was looking at the "warm" image in Photoshop and saw something I have never seen before...in all my twenty-five years of playing with Photoshop. Of course, back in the earlier days there was no such feature known as "Save for Web"...but OK...so I had the "warm" image open, and then chose "Save for Web"...and the image instantly turned "cold" in the "Save for Web" dialog box...regardless of any settings I was using. That's Weird with a capital "W"!!!
To show you what I mean, you can see a screenshot of the image itself (on the left) nice and warm and then the "Save for Web" dialog box where the image is icy cold.
What is going on here???

MemberAll great points, @Christoph.
I would add:
1. There's an annoying "bump" while the slider is operating, probably caused by some of your slider images being a different "height" than some other images.
2. The "PRIVATE INVESTORS" part of the slider...the text on the right side where it says "A BIGGER RETURN THAN YOUR BANK PAYS..." is indented, but similar text on other slides is not indented.
3. In other parts of the page you have some bits of text starting with indents and other with no indents.
4. The "Private Investors" slider image (shows a graph) is unsharp. Do you have a better version of this graphic?
5. Noticed at least two typos on the "About Us" page....the page looks unfinished, so maybe you're still working on that.
6. Are you sure your use of "lendor" is correct?

MemberThanks for your excellent analysis, Erik....seems that we both agree that JetPack is involved in the problem...but...
...but we also know that JetPack and Photon are not *known* for causing this problem...with all the billions and billions of people using JetPack and Photon if this were a common problem we would have heard about it...that's why I'm wondering if it's some weird interaction between JetPack, Photon, and the particular theme she's using.
Further complicating things is the OP's comment that the problem seems to not occur with every image...doesn't happen all the time. Weird.
Hello, OP...if you're still out there, try our suggestions about playing with the theme to see if the problem goes away, and let us know.
