MemberHa ha...my own web site also is totally out of whack and outdated...partly because of other work to do, and also just because I'm...well...just lazy sometimes...and almost all my work comes through referrals anyway...a sad state affairs I guess.

MemberDepending on your hosting service (such as BlueHost where they let you easily set up subdomains), it would seem that you could set up a separate subdomain for each of your demo sites...and then you would have something like (depending on your theme names) crazytheme.cubicle10.com and businesstheme.cubicle10.com and newcartheme.cubicle10.com etc. with each subdomain (folder) having a separate WordPress install.
I've never actually done this, but I'm reasonably sure it should work, and shouldn't require anything to special in regard to hosting resources.
Here are a couple of tutorials that might help:

MemberHa ha ha...as you know, "The Moodster" operates totally on guesswork...so I think we need a guy who actually knows something...someone like you.
OK...I hope this screenshot will illustrate the problem:
In the screenshot, the image on the left is what the image (screenshot) looks like when she uploaded it...a nice, natural color tone.
The image on the right (screenshot) shows what the image looks like when it's viewed in the carousel...a much colder tone that the OP doesn't want.
Apparently, this happens only sometimes...and only to *some* of her images.
Where it really gets weird is if you view the image in the carousel...with the undesirable cold color tone...and then control-click (or right-click) to download the image to your computer, when it lands on my desktop it has reverted to its nice normal color tones.
What is causing the color tone to change from when the image is in a normal state compared to when it's viewed in the carousel?
This is a very interesting case, and I think you might be the guy to solve it.
Here's the screenshot demonstrating the warm and the cold so you can see.

MemberGood point, @Erik D. Slater. By the way, I was thinking of asking you to come over and take a look at this problem...but now you're here so I won't have to ask you. 🙂

MemberOne more thought: The theme you're using has a feature that changes the images (for example on the home page)...changes the look of the images when you mouse over them.
I know that's not the same effect that's causing the problem with the image in your carousel, but I was just thinking...it wouldn't hurt to just quickly activate a different theme...a simple one that doesn't in any way play with images...and see if the problem persists.
When you change to a different theme, it might mess up a lot of your layout and other things, but I would guess the carousel should still work...and any problems would only be temporary...would straighten out as soon as you went back to your original theme.
If the problem seems to go away with a different theme, you would then have narrowed down the problem to some unwanted interaction between the JetPack carousel and your current theme...and then someone who knows code a lot better than I do might figure it out.
Probably won't hurt to try...

MemberThanks for taking the time to figure out the links so we can actually see the problem...and I definitely do see the problem...and it's definitely a very weird problem.
I mean, to me it doesn't make sense why a carousel (I see you're using the JetPack carousel) would cause an image to display with such different color tones that way...especially just *some* of the photos.
It's strange that if I look at the "cool" image in the carousel, and then download that image directly from the carousel onto my hard drive and then open the image it reverts to its proper "warm" tones. It's the same image...the exact same image...but it looks very different "coming through" the carousel.
I've never used that carousel...but...is there any kind of "color filter" setting that might be inadvertently applied to some of the images in the carousel? Long shot, I know...but really...that's what it looks like...the effect we're seeing here is similar to if you had the image open in Photoshop and then chose Image > Adjustments > Photo Filter... > and then ran one of the "cooling" filters.
I'm guessing that you don't want to start over with a different carousel plugin...I won't even suggest that...so I'll have to hope that someone with a bigger brain than mine (lots of them out there) will come along, view your code, and see some obvious problem that I can't see.
I'll keep watching this thread because I'm really interested to see what the problem was once it's figured out.

MemberLooks like your image is 1600 x 600, which is about 200 pixels "shorter" than the specs call for...if you make your image to 1600 x 800 it will probably look better in that space.

MemberI recommend you try using an actual, real version of IE8 rather than a simulator, and see if you still have the problem before you go to a huge amount of trouble trying to fix a problem that might not exist.

MemberOK, maybe it's just me, but it's hard for me to totally understand what you're talking about here, because I see what this last image you posted looks like in the carousel (at least I think it's in the carousel) but where do I see what you think the image is *supposed* to look like??? What am I missing here. I understand all about images that are too warm and too cool...but I can't see enough here to make a comparison and then try to figure out what's going wrong.
And, once again...maybe it's just me...but I think some of the links you've posted here are going to something other than what you think they're going to...not much help for troubleshooting.

MemberSeth,
I don't know if this is going to help...I am in no way any kind of expert at this stuff...but I've looked at your code in the area where you're having problems, and then compared it code in one of my own sites where I used the Centric theme...and one thing I noticed that was different was that I used the "Insert Read More Tag" on my page(s)...the page(s) that were linked to through the "Featured Pages" widget...and it doesn't look to me like you used the "Read More" tags...and maybe this has caused your problem, because when displayed on your home page maybe the widget doesn't know where to quit showing text.
Here's a screen shot showing my page that's linked to my home page through that same widget, and you can where I've used that tag.

I just tried looking at your site again, but seems to be unavailable...maybe you're working on it. I'll check in later to see if I can see it.*MoodyRiviera*

MemberOn the home page, the heading "How Foundation Problems Effect Property Value"..."Effect" should be "Affect."
You might want to go through and check for other copy problems, since where there is one error of this type there are usually more.Also...in the three columns going across...even though these three columns may not be totally "related" you should consider getting the type size of those headings all the same...as it is now, you have three different sizes.
On the "causes-of-foundation-movement-houston" page, right-hand column...seems to be broken links where images don't show up (Jesse Hennigan, Shari Arhcer, Michelle Kimball).
Probably other things, but that's all I have time for right now.

MemberIn regard to your first question, I looked at your site, and I see in the "Web Design" section, the "Learn More" button is centered...and you seem to be saying that you want that button to go to the right? Is that correct?
I'm wondering, because the text in that section is centered, and so it would seem only right that the "Learn More" button would also be centered...and if you look at the Centric theme demo those buttons are also centered.
Maybe I'm missing your point.

MemberWhat I can tell you is that when I'm looking for a theme, it doesn't take me an hour (as you suggested) just to look through the available StudioPress themes to find one I like. I scroll through the page I linked you to...and I can get a good idea just from looking at the "thumbnails"...and then I click to further investigate the ones I'm interested in...so I guess that's why I'm having a hard time visualizing your problem.
Are you suggesting that there should be a page, where there's something like a screnshot of the home page for every available StudioPress theme...and then you could scroll through that page to find one you like? If so, that's probably not a bad idea...but then of course there would still be the problem of seeing what the various internal pages of each theme would look like, so you would still have to do a lot of clicking.
I don't know where you would find a list like that, but I agree that it might be nice if they had something like that.
In regard to the themes that are missing...i'm guessing those are old themes that StudioPress no longer offers for sale. Just the other day I noticed a theme I was looking for wasn't shown on that list, and I finally decided it must have been removed because it's too old...not offered for sale anymore...of course since I don't work for StudioPress I'm just guessing.

http://my.studiopress.com/themes/Go to http://my.studiopress.com/themes/ scroll through the screenshots, click "See Details and Pricing" to find out more, and if you want to see a working demo of the theme click "Full Theme Demo"...how much easier could it get?

MemberWelcome to Genesis...and you are correct about changing the CSS on the child themes (Genesis Sample theme, Eleven40 Pro theme, etc.)...there is no need to create a child theme of the child theme. Just make your changes in the child theme, and that's all that's necessary...since the child themes are never (almost never?) updated. No grandchild themes are necessary. 🙂
