MemberMaybe I'm missing something here. I just took a look at your page, and I don't see anything wrong with it. I see the graphic, with text and a button to the right of the graphic...and below it all I see a gray bar and then some social media icons below it, along with the "For immediate assistance" text and also your copyright text.
Is there supposed to be more than that?

Member@Susan: I started out hating the Customizer, but I have to say that I was working on a web site the other night, and inadvertently got into the Customizer widgets area, and have to say that I might change my mind. It actually was nice to add something to a widget and/or make some changes, and see those changes showing up in the preview without having to do a bunch of extra clicks.
I'm still totally against the idea of having menus in the Customizer area, but I don't know...guess I'll just have to wait and see how that actually works.

MemberYou've opened up something here that is a big surprise to me. Of course I'm not anything close to being a WordPress expert, but I'm probably not the only person who was surprised to hear of anything like this happening...what you said...that "changes made to one don't necessarily become available for further modification under the other."
I'm really surprised.
I was also very surprised when I read this on the smashingmagazine.com web site:
"The Customizer doesn’t save any changes in the actual theme files, either the template files or the stylesheet. When the website is rendered in a browser, WordPress outputs inline CSS generated by the Theme Customizer to the <head>, which overrides the stylesheet. This means users can easily revert to the standard theme and nothing is lost, but it also means that any changes made using the Customizer aren’t as long-lasting as if you used a child theme, for example."
http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2013/03/05/the-wordpress-theme-customizer-a-developers-guide/Is that really true???
I don't have an answer for your problem, but just wanted to say that I've never heard of anything like the problem you're having, and I hope you get a good solution from someone.

MemberI love it when people ask a question, then get it figured out, and then take the time to come back here to let us know how they did it.
Thanks for doing that. 🙂

MemberDavid Chu provides great advice...you also might want to consider visiting the forum at the theme developer's site...I've heard they have excellent tech support.

MemberI here you saying that you don't really want to switch sliders at this point, but that might be the best answer for you....cut your losses, as they would say.
I know other people will have had other experiences, but my experience with the Genesis Responsive Slider has shown me that it's weird and flaky...I wasted a lot of time trying to use it on a few sites, and then switched over to Soliloquy and have had much better luck. There are lots of other sliders out there, too, of course.
In addition to the fact that Soliloquy actually does what it's supposed to do, the guy updates it very regularly.

MemberThis is kinda weird, man.
I don't have a solution to your problem, but:
If I view your "Collectie" page on my 27-inch iMac, in Chrome browser, I see the menu in the left sidebar, and I can see all the dropdown links.
If I view your "Collectie" page on my 13-inch MacBook Pro in Chrome, I see the menu in the left sidebar, but (unlike what you're saying) I can easily see all the dropdown links.
But here's what's weird: When I view that same page on my 13-inch MacBook Pro in Safari, the menu is no longer in the left sidebar...the menu is centered at the top of the page...and I can easily view all the dropdown links.
Not sure, but maybe this would help you (or someone else) to troubleshoot the problem.

MemberHello,
Maybe this will help:
I stumbled onto a web site the other day that was using the Centric theme...I noticed it because I use that theme myself...and they were using a large image at the top of the page just as you have in mind.
I went back there just now, after reading your question, and I see that the size of the image as they are using it is 1820 x 1055 pixels.
If you go to http://corrector.nl you'll see that what they have there looks good...so maybe that's a good size...although of course you have to realize that images with these dimensions can take a long time to load on the page (depending on how you optimize the image), so keep that in mind.

MemberI just checked your site with my iPhone 5...iOS8...using both Safari and Chrome...and everything looks OK to me...the entire header image displays in both vertical and horizontal view...nothing is cut off.

MemberCool...and as Davinder said, different. No one can accuse you of having a cookie-cutter look...definitely displays your creativity.

MemberI don't think your theme is responsive, so not sure how it will help to make the header image responsive...if that's even possible. I mean, it looks to me that even if that header image resizes when the window changes, the other elements on the page are still going to *not* resize. (???)

MemberHello,
If I understand your questions, here's what I think:
1. While looking at your page in edit mode, scroll down the page until you see the "Layout Settings" section, which (in the Centric theme) shows three options. The first is to show the main text with the sidebar on the right, the second is to show the sidebar on the left and then the text, and the third is all text with no sidebar. Click the icon on the right to get all text with no sidebar.
2. I think the reason the "About" wording is cut off is because your site name "The Web Galley" is too long to fit the allotted space, and so it pushes down for an additional line, which is probably the reason the text below it is cutting off.

MemberDon't feel too bad...you're not the only one who hasn't noticed those setup instructions. Judging by the questions we see on this forum, lots of other people haven't seen them either.
In fact, I think it wasn't too long ago that there weren't any real setup instructions for these themes...like you, I remember spending a few months trying to figure out how the home pages of these things worked...I don't remember if there were no instructions at all, or if the instructions were really useless...but it seems to me that these good instructions are relatively recent. (But of course, I could be wrong.)

MemberHi @astrolabio,
Just wondering if you have read the setup instructions for the Metro Pro theme. There's a section in the setup instructions named "HOW TO CONFIGURE THE HOME PAGE" which gives a fairly good description of how to do what you're trying to do.
Here's the link to the setup instructions:

MemberHi @Tom,
Wow...thanks so much for taking a look and coming up with a fix. I tried it out, and it works perfectly. Thank you again...I really appreciate it.*MoodyRiviera*
P.S. Looks like this can be marked "Resolved."

MemberIt looks great...really. But as long as you're asking for suggestions:
1. I agree with Susan that you should change that hover color...not good to have the text pretty much disappear like that.
2. About half-way down the home page, I recommend that you put the the "Let Your Website Steal the Show" on one line, and then the red button on a separate line...both centered. As you have it now, in one line, it's an awkward, off-balance look.
Great web site.

MemberI agree that it's not easy to figure out exactly how to create a child theme. There are tutorials all over the place, and they all seem to say different things...which I don't understand...I mean, why does it have to be so hard to get a straight answer? But for some reason it seems all but impossible to get a straight (and understandable) answer for this.
Here are a couple of tutorials you might want to look at:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-create-wordpress-child-theme/
https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
One thing you should keep in mind is that if you're using themes that run on the Genesis framework, you don't have to make a child theme...because those themes are already child themes.

MemberI'm sorry you're having so much trouble with that. I know it's immensely frustrating when you spend money on something and not only it doesn't work, but you can't get any support.
I've never used Design Palette Pro, but StudioPress promotes it with a very full web page right here on their web site, and it looks like they are also selling it...so even if it's a third-party thing, it seems that StudioPress *should* give you some help.
Have you tried opening a ticket here to get some support direct from StudioPress? Maybe that would help.
