March 7, 2018 at 2:07 pm in reply to: Another Issue With Smart Passive Income Child Theme – Aweber Form Interference? #217463
KenTheriot
MemberStill working on it, actually. Yes, I'm using the Genesis Club Pro Plugin and their shortcode for forms. What I may end up doing is just putting a pic and some text with a link ot my landing page and just go from there.
Aweber forms still don't work very well with this theme though, for the reasons cited above.
Thanks for the reply!

MemberPorter - Commenting out 174 didn't work, but doing it to 177 DID!
Thanks so much!

MemberThanks Porter. I'll try that.
The confusing thing is that I'm not even designating the image as the "Featured Image." in this case. In fact I have not designated one at all. There must be some sort of automatic scripting going on that takes the first image and just makes it the Featured Image, maybe?
I'll let you know if that worked. Thanks again!

MemberNot sure how to use paste.ofcode.org but I'll try. Here is the url of the page where I pasted the content of my functions.php file. Hope that's right:

MemberAh, OK. so it was more of an homage to an existing site than a description of any advantage the theme itself might have. Gotcha. Thanks.

MemberI reply to my above question - it turns out that a plugin is causing this. The developer had actually caught the bug last night and will be fixing it tomorrow:).

September 27, 2014 at 12:35 pm in reply to: How Do I Change Default Image Size Settings in Eleven40-Pro? #125977KenTheriot
MemberAh. OK "640 and 320" correspond to the image dimensions 640x320 for "new image." And to actually change the parameters for "large" and "medium," I just add "add_image_size( 'large', 1064, 768, TRUE );" etc. That's what I needed. Thanks!!

MemberThanks Genwrock. So how does 270 and 100 correspond to the square dimensions of 1024, 300, and 150? I also don't understand how 640 and 320 correspond to rectangular dimensions. Can you clue me in on that?
Cheers!

MemberFigured it out with the help of a Genesis goddess:). It was the Yoast video SEO plugin. The "Try to make videos responsive using FitVids.js?" was checked. And I think that conflicts with either Eleven40Pro or the new WordPress media stuff.
Hope that helps someone esle!

MemberOK. I just reactiveated S3TC, cleared the caches, then deactivated it again, and everything looks fine now. Sigh. So it was W3TC. But what does one do to keep the site speed up without a caching plugin?
Cheers!
Ken

MemberThanks Davinder. I deactivated W3TC. But the problem persists. How do I delete the cache after I've deactivated the plugin? OR should I have done that BEFORE I deactivated it?
Cheers!

MemberI think I may have found the culprit. The StudioPress Accelerator plug-in seems to have been the cause. I disabled it and have not had the problem again. If it re-appears, I'll post here. In the mean time, if that is the problem, aren't others who use that plug-in seeing the same thing?

MemberJust thought I'd try asking this again. I'm still struggling with it.

MemberYeah, there's no joy over there. Everyone seems to just be ditching W3TC due to this persistent error. I'm going to try disabling W3TC and see what happens.

MemberThanks Anita. I'll try that.

MemberIt seems that the problem with the “Connection lost. Saving has been disabled until you’re reconnected….” error message is pretty common now and hundreds of folks are wondering how they can fix it. It's more than just a message. It is accompanied by an actual latency issue that did not exist until very recently. Is there anyone else here on the forum who has had this problem and solved it?

MemberThanks Summer. It seems to be really messing with my ability to actually update a post. I suppose it could be my network connection speed or something. the WordPress codex seems to indicate that certain plugins (though none that I have) tend to cause it.
I'll see if I can figure out if that's true and which one, and post back here.
Thanks!

July 10, 2014 at 11:25 am in reply to: Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content? #113791KenTheriot
MemberBy the way, I know the provenance two of the six scripts. One is for an Aweber opt-in form. the other is from Convert-Experiments (split testing service). I've submitted a request to the latter on how to defer the script. I'm betting lots of people have issues with the Aweber one, so am assuming there is a pretty common fix?
I'm not sure where the other scripts are coming from. I do have W3 Total Cache, and I have seen that this plugin can cause these script issues, which is ironic, since W3 Total Cache is supposed to optimize the loading of your site:-P.

MemberOK. Just saving the current Permalink settings didn't fix it. I currently have it set to Post Name (http://www.mysite.com/sample-post/). I also tried changing it to Default. Saving that. Then changing back to Post Name and saving that again. Still a no go.
I notice that the particular link causing the 404 is a bit.ly I apparently created 3 years ago targeting: "/?post_type=page&p=5573" I don't know why I created a bit.ly link to such a strange url. It looks like some sort of template that was mistakenly created. And I don't know how to redirect it, since the normal .htaccess redirect entries don't work.
Any ideas on that last bit (no pun intended)?
Cheers,
Ken

MemberI'll try that Anita. Thanks!
