Topic: Metro theme: adding "Welcome Text" widget per B Gardner's code – help?
Hi, I'm trying to follow B Gardner's tutorial here as to how to add a "Welcome Text" widget to a Genesis child theme (Metro, in this case).
The code is easy enough, cut and pasted in as he said to do in the tutorial.
BUT ... the text of the welcome area widget is NOT responding to the CSS I have -- it is defaulting to the "default" text (in both style AND in size). I want it to be in a larger size and font (Oswald, perhaps; which is the font for the theme's headlines, yes?).
Can someone tell me why the CSS isn't working? I have looked at it with Firebug and still can't figure out what change to the CSS I need to make to change the font for that widget area AND the size of the font for that widget area. Perhaps the tutorial will not work for the Metro theme?
Thanks in advance for clues!
The site is here. You can see the default font and font-size in the "welcome" widget area at the top of the front page.
[Resolved]Topic: Metro Theme – Demo Site Question Not Explained In "Set Up"
The Metro theme DEMO shows Featured Stories #4, #5, and #6 (lower on main page) as having the photos nicely set at the left and the text of the post at the right.
How did they get it to do that? What settings?
We have it showing the pics that size, but the pics are up in the top left corner with lots of white space to the right and the text of the posts are BELOW the pic. Looks stupid!
Help!?
Thanks!
UPDATE: used "Genesis Widget Amplified" plugin settings and it seems to have fixed it somehow, not sure how.
[Resolved]Topic: Metro – Issues with Footer Credits & Links to Category Archives
Hi,
I'm digging the theme, but have run into a couple of issues and am hoping some kind soul can give me a nudge in the right direction...
I used the Genesis Simple Hooks plugin + the code snippet from the plugins page to change the footer credits for my site, but am having an issue with the placement of the changes. Even though I've unhooked the original, my new credits are showing under the last of my homepage widgets and the original credits are still there. You can see what I'm talking about here: http://practicalbliss.com
I read through another thread where someone was having the same issue, but it suggested CSS changes to remove the area altogether and that's not what I want to do. I've used Simple Hooks to do this a dozen times, so not sure what the snag is.
My 2nd issue is with the spacing of my category archive links when using the Genesis Featured Posts widget. They're sitting right on top of the widget titles below as you can see in the Home Top widget section of my homepage. I've tried a couple of CSS tweaks, but can't figure how to get a little bottom padding going.
Any ideas?
I'm using the Metro theme here: http://www.nationwideindustrialsupply.com/blog/
How do I change the font color for h4.widgettitle a, without changing everything listed?
h1,
h2,
h2 a,
h2 a:visited,
h3,
h4,
h4 a,
h4 a:visited,
h4.widgettitle a,
.entry-title a {
color: #333;
}
Thanks!
Cara
