As I shared, if it's doing what you want, rock it out. My initial response was based on the desire to recreate the other site and they had some specific features that I felt Stretch fit best.
Viewing above 1920px is tough unless you have a computer that does that. There are resources like BrowserShots.org that allows you to see how things look in various browsers and operating systems. Unfortunately it doesn't go up to the screen resolution you are seeking.
Glad I saved you some money. I own the developer license for Soliloquy as it's a great little plugin. Love it a ton!

weslindaMemberCan you explain what you mean by "content paragraph fonts not working very well"? What's the issue? They are too small?

weslindaMemberI went in and made an image a featured image and it pulls it in. Not sure what might have happened the first time, but the featured image should be what directs the image to the slider. Tested on the Stress and Anxiety post and it pulls in the featured image just fine.
Also, the image in the post is not the same size as you're noting in the slider, so that will lead to some visual issues as well.

weslindaMemberIn taking a quick peek, this should work BUT may cause a need to change CSS to make this work the way you want.

weslindaMemberThis reply has been marked as private.weslindaMemberAre you entering the first <? php tag? If so, you'll want to skip that. Also, you'll want to edit the actual doctype information for your needs. Beyond that, you might want to post a screenshot of the edited file so we can see what's actually being uploaded.
At the end of the day, I'll tell you that this isn't going to really make much of a difference when it comes to speed rankings of your site.
Google likes to recommend lots of things, and they aren't law, just suggestions.

weslindaMemberGood afternoon. My preference is to go the route of least resistance. Since Stretch had that built in, I'd use that so I didn't have to rebuild it. So if you're okay with doing the background image with CSS, that's fine. The primary reason I would pick stretch is that it's automatically resizing the background image based on the device without me having to write any CSS or scripting to achieve the results. It also allows me to set the background image of a page from within the WordPress admin, making administrating those backgrounds a little easier than using CSS as I can do it in the editor vs CSS file.
At the end of the day, you should do what makes you happy. If you're happy with what you've achieved using Minimum, then run with it. Both themes are responsive and should work just fine. If you are happy with your results with Minimum, roll with it. Won't offend me any. :0)
Regarding the Soliloquy slider you should not need the developer options of Soliloquy to add text over the images. The Image Caption is where you can put any text / html that you want to overlay on that image. Then you'll just need to style it as you desire. Takes a level of coding to manage, but pretty straight forward.

weslindaMemberGood morning. So the homepage is definitely a slider. However, there are other pages on the site that are not sliders, and have text over images like a traditional post, thus the reason I recommended using the stretch them as it achieves this with great ease.

As for the homepage, you can absolutely setup a full width slider on the homepage using soliloquy. All it would take is creating a template for the homepage. There is a nice instructional video on this from StudioPress.tv (http://studiopress.tv/custom-home-pages/).
By doing that you can create any theme you want. The primary that I was concerned with implementing was the full width background that is used on a number of pages on the site.
Creating a custom home page can be done with ANY theme.

weslindaMemberAnitaC, what would be your solution for full width background images in Minimum? Always use a slider?

weslindaMemberGreat. Sorry for the miss there, but glad you found the answer. Sometimes those items get hidden, and that's the first place to look if you're missing a box that someone is referencing.
Loving the Genesis Life!
weslindaMemberIf you scroll down, is the sidebar pushed? May mean not all of the responsive CSS is missing. ALL of the responsive code must go, and if it's calling a "color" file, then the responsive code from that stylesheet needs to go as well.

weslindaMemberSoliloquy can handle videos, so that option is there. The stretch theme will allow you to set a specific background image on each page if you like. So that will help with the style of design you're trying to recreate. To create the look you want would take some work via development and CSS but I'm sure it can be done. The fastest way to get this done is to work with a designer/developer familiar with Genesis to complete the project. Obviously there would be a cost to this, but it could be done.

weslindaMemberIs she seeking a splash page style setup? Not having a menu could be a challenge or offputting to potential visitors. However, you can create a custom home template, add a single widget area for the site and drop in the visual as desired. There is a nice video on StudioPress.tv chatting how to do this.

As far as SEO, it's possible to affect it. No links and no text only allows meta tags to be the drivers for homepage SEO, so it could create a challenge, but that depends on what she is trying to rank for.
As for menu and buttons and such, you can still use widget areas to deliver the content, just depends on how you style this.

weslindaMemberSoliloquy allows you to set a title and text over the image. And you can style that as you wish. There is a lite version that you can toy with in the plugin directory (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/soliloquy-lite/).
I don't have experience with Royal Slider or SliderPro, so I can't compare which is better. I have full confidence in Soliloquy and use it in many places.

weslindaMemberIn the CSS file, you'll want to remove all code after. You'll also need to remove the responsive code from the specific color file if they are using one of the custom color schemes. I'd make a backup in case they change their mind.
