We're playing the waiting game on Genesis 2.0 right, for WordPress 3.6? So we have no specific time table for that release?

weslindaMemberThis is specific to a taxonomy archive. It works properly on a post in the post type, it's the taxonomy archive where its not showing the cpt in the url structure. Is the page you're linking to a taxonomy archive?

weslindaMemberOzzy, yup. The issue is very specific to CPTs and it's not one I'm really seeing any answers to. Outside of modifying the home link, then I can't find an answer. It's a little surprising that this isn't built in.

weslindaMemberThanks, I'll give it a spin. Client just did a pause on the project for the month, so once I get a chance to test, I'll let you know how this works out.

weslindaMemberSo I know how to do the conditional, I actually can't figure out how to display the image title or description. I don't see anything in the Codex about those pieces of information specifically.
I'm looking for the information on how I echo "the_title" for the attachment. Make sense?

weslindaMemberI didn't "figure" it out, I ended up making a quick function to make the site do it like I wanted it to. Replaced built in function with custom one.

weslindaMemberNever mind, just ignore me, I live and breathe stupidity.

weslindaMemberThat's not my experience. I haven't gone through everyone, but every other Genesis site I've pulled uses H1 there, not P. Across the board. I'm not sure why it would do that in THAT setup, and not the others.

weslindaMemberI was wondering if that was going to be confusing. I did add a link (www.tylliebarbosa.com) but it's not obvious that it's the URL of the post. I added it in the new URL field that is a part of the new post form. This should be above my signature and have a title with it so folks know it's connected to the post.
It's across the site. All pages and posts use P instead of H1 for the SEO title.

weslindaMemberThe only reason it shouldn't show is that an excerpt isn't saved with the post. Did you double check that?
Other than that, I would need to be able to login to your admin to walk through possible issues.

weslindaMemberThe home page is built automatically when you add widgets to the proper areas on the widgets page in the admin. If they are not showing up, make sure that you have "Latest Posts" selected under Settings > Reading in the admin area.

weslindaMemberThat's the function that excerpt brings to the table, so there aren't a ton of "read more" links. If you feel you want those, you could do a simple custom bit of code to add the "read more" link if you wanted. Probably the easiest way to solve this.

You'll only need to move the information if you move away from the genesis platform. Even if you change to a new genesis theme, then the meta stays. Only if you leave the framework would you need to move it. I wouldn't put the effort in until you know you are moving. Seems like extra work to me.

weslindaMemberA few questions for you.
- Is the thumbnail a cut of the larger featured image? Basically, you are using the same image for the thumbnail and the featured image on the post?
- When you share that you are displaying the full featured thumbnail on the post page, are you doing this by inserting it into the post or calling it as a featured image? So it's added automatically?
Also, you mention needing to limit to 1000 characters because of stripping formatting. It might be easier to use Excerpt for the blog archive, as that will allow you to set specific content to show on that page for each post, with no concern of image conflicts.

weslindaMemberThey did, and it's one of my defaults. 🙂

weslindaMemberIt would be tough to give much support without seeing what's going on. When I visit the site, it says it's being upgraded.

weslindaMemberYou're welcome! Now, you'll want to delete those two pages, as they aren't needed. If you don't want "category" in the URL then you can use this plugin and it'll make the category URLs prettier.

weslindaMemberHere is the key, actual blog pages won't show all of the category information like simply linking to the category will.
On your site you are using pages, instead of simply the category archives. Since you're using a page, with the blog template, it's not pulling everything. Compare these two pages on your site.
- Page: http://www.goldpagewarriors.com/take-off-the-mask/
- Category: http://www.goldpagewarriors.com/category/take-off-the-mask/
As you can see, the Category shows the icon as desired. Can I ask why you're using the "page" instead of the "category"? Is it for URL friendliness or other?
Loving the Genesis Life!
weslindaMemberI'm not sure if this is the answer, but typically the theme will use Excerpt for that text and not Meta Description. The other pages appear to be using Excerpt, not Meta Description.

April 21, 2013 at 8:15 am in reply to: SEO Plugin Or Genesis own SEO options? Which is better? #36688weslindaMemberNumerous people like the Yoast SEO plugin and numerous folks like the built in SEO of Genesis. Both can work for your site.
To get specific about sitemaps, I've not seen the issue you're mentioning about Google XML Sitemaps (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/). With the issue you're mentioning, I would actually recommend putting in a ticket to your host to see if there is an issue with creating or writing the file by the sitemap plugin. They might be able to provide some answers on what the issues are.
Perhaps there are incorrect permissions on the file or other issue they can assist in diagnosing and correcting for you. Bluehost is a pretty strong supporter of WordPress so they should be able to get the issues figured out.
One thing on the Yoast in taking a peek at the site is that there appears there can be some sitemap issues. There is a link below to the article with some troubleshooting tips.
