Glad that worked for you. It's one of those little things that you learn to look for after making the issue you mentioned happen a few times.

March 6, 2013 at 9:44 am in reply to: Enterprise theme – How do I swap the HomeTop row and the HomeMiddle row? #24550weslindaMemberIt's not that it's too complicated, it just requires an hour or two of development to get it clean. As for your second request, that is possible as well. Perhaps a little easier, but would take about an hour to do.
Any Genesis Developer would be able to assist you with this, but it's likely to require a small investment for their time.

weslindaMemberSo I have not used that theme yet, but it appears that the excerpt / content that you're adding below the images is making one "portfolio" piece larger than the others. The Let's Get U Tooled Up has 6 lines of text, the others have 5. If you pull back on some of the text there and match the 5 lines, everything should fall in place.
In the theme demo, the content / excerpt is not there so they all line up a specific way. You should be able to set a content limit in the widget, and that's how you can reduce the amount of text shown.

March 5, 2013 at 7:51 pm in reply to: Enterprise theme – How do I swap the HomeTop row and the HomeMiddle row? #24471weslindaMemberUnfortunately, I do not see an easy way to do this without rewriting the home page and css of the theme. It can be done, but would require some work.

weslindaMemberNumerous discussions here. The Yoast plugin is great. And if you have data there, it's a great place to keep data. I've found that the SEO built into Genesis is very, very good as well. There is a lot more to SEO than just tags and such. I've worked with the Genesis SEO and added on Scribe with great success.
I've also heard nothing but good things about Yoast's plugin. The one value to Yoast's plugin is that should you choose to switch your theme to a non-genesis theme (but why would you? ;0) ) the SEO data is easier to transfer than from Genesis.
It's really personal preference.

I read "executive" instead of "enterprise" and gave you the how to for Executive. Give me a few minutes to look through the file. I want to make sure I'm doing this correctly for you.

weslindaMemberThe header image is actually being called using CSS, so there is no image to add alt text to.
You can edit the text being pulled in as the H1 title and Description by going to Settings > General and editing the Site Title and Tagline. You can edit the homepage SEO options of Meta Title and Description by going to Genesis > SEO Settings and editing the Home Page Settings.
Hope this helps.

March 5, 2013 at 6:13 pm in reply to: Enterprise theme – How do I swap the HomeTop row and the HomeMiddle row? #24452weslindaMemberIn your home.php file, you'll find the following code.
genesis_widget_area( 'home-slider', array(
'before' => '<div class="home-slider widget-area">',
) );
genesis_widget_area( 'home-top', array(
'before' => '<div class="home-top widget-area">',
) );Swap those two sections.
genesis_widget_area( 'home-top', array(
'before' => '<div class="home-top widget-area">',
) );
genesis_widget_area( 'home-slider', array(
'before' => '<div class="home-slider widget-area">',
) );This should swap the layouts. There may be some need to edit CSS for fine tuning.

weslindaMemberLooks like you've added multiple menus to the widget area. You've also added a title for the widgets.
You only need one menu, and no need to add a title to the widget. You can add all of the links to one menu. The link below offers information on how to make menus, and how to add multi-level menus.

Another great resource for learning how things work in WordPress is the WP101.com site. Great site for WordPress Tutorials. It is a subscription service, but well worth the funds.

weslindaMemberEasiest way to achieve this is with Simple Sidebars. You can do this in a more hands on way via your functions.php file, but the plugin creates a nice UI in the admin area for managing this.

weslindaMemberAre you seeking a plugin that shows your facebook, twitter and google+ or are you looking for something that allows folks to like the pages on your site using those services? I think you're asking about the latter, not the former, but just wanted to confirm.

weslindaMemberSo if you take a look at the Genesis Visual Markup Guide. You'll see the core structures of the page.
http://my.studiopress.com/docs/visual-markup-guide/
You'll want to adjust #content and such to perform as desired for each @media call as there are different breakpoints that you'll need to adjust.

March 5, 2013 at 3:45 pm in reply to: Eliminating Featured Post on Homepage of Education Theme #24413weslindaMemberTechnically, the content is still on the page, all we're doing is hiding it. But it reaches your current goal. Glad it worked.

March 5, 2013 at 2:51 pm in reply to: Eliminating Featured Post on Homepage of Education Theme #24392weslindaMemberOkay, so I have no idea why it isn't working. It should work, but isn't, but there is a CSS hack that can be done as an interim. It'll at least hide the information for your visitors.
.home #content, .home #sidebar {display:none;}

weslindaMemberIf you set the min-height for the nav, there would be no need to adjust at the @media sections. By defining the menu height as a fixed height as you have in the theme, you'd have to adjust as you go if you want to edit for each @media pull.
So defining a new menu height at each level would be needed. If you switch from height to min-height in the original css, then it'll resize as needed.

weslindaMemberHi Scott. In the theme, there are Media queries, where the responsive functions are called. Sounds like once you get below a certain resolution, then that kicks in.
Search for @media in the CSS file and you'll need to adjust the CSS of the sidebar and content for each screen resolution.

March 5, 2013 at 2:16 pm in reply to: Eliminating Featured Post on Homepage of Education Theme #24379weslindaMemberSorry about that. Give this a try. I'm going to compare my home.php file to the original one and get back to you on that as well.
/** Remove News Items & Sidebar on Home Page **/
add_action( ‘genesis_setup’, ‘home_edit’ );
function home_edit() {
if ( is_front_page() ) {
remove_action( ‘genesis_loop’, ‘genesis_do_loop’ );
remove_action( ‘genesis_sidebar’, ‘genesis_do_sidebar’ );
}
}
