Other than the set-up for the Expose theme, I don't know of any child theme specific tutorials. If you let me know what you want to do, I can point you in the right direction (in terms of making changes to the layout, or colors, or anything else), but I need to know what you're looking to do.
SusanModerator
@ryans - what theme are you using? Not all themes automatically include an "after post" box. If yours doesn't have one, you can add one by following this tutorial:SusanModeratorThanks for the update, Mitch!
SusanModeratorHave you considered the Simple Sidebars plugin? It makes it easier to add sidebars on a post or page basis"
http://www.studiopress.com/plugins/simple-sidebarsSusanModeratorMargot - I received your e-mail; I will respond when I get home this afternoon. 🙂
SusanModeratorMargot - I'm not sure why your emails to the designer are bouncing - I'm assisting Lauren on her help desk, and we are getting support questions there...
But, on to your question... The widget for sponsors is a text widget, with the URL of sponsor ads. If you email me directly or through Lauren's site, I can email you the images. (I'm not looking at the craftiness zip file right now, so I don't know if the images were included there.
SusanModeratorDennis - I'm sorry - I didn't have this post checked to notify me of a reply. Did you get the picture issue resolved?
March 4, 2013 at 9:23 am in reply to: Executive Theme: Why do fonts look weird in Chrome and FireFox but not in IE? #24052SusanModeratorThere was another issue recently who had similar issues, but it was on every computer on his work network. He didn't have the issue when he checked it from home... (I'll see if I can find the thread...)
SusanModeratorGreat. I'm glad you were able to resolve it. I will close this thread.
SusanModeratorGo to Slider Settings > Content Settings > check the box "Do not link Slider image to Post/Page."
(To see it in action, visit my site - I have a slider which doesn't link to pages or posts.)
SusanModeratorWere you able to resolve this - I just tested it in IE, and it seems to be working fine.
SusanModeratorDid you get this resolved? I'm having no problems with viewing the drop-down menu in Chrome.
March 4, 2013 at 4:58 am in reply to: Executive Theme: Why do fonts look weird in Chrome and FireFox but not in IE? #24018SusanModeratorDifferent fonts rendering differently across browsers; I'm only seeing marginal difference between IE & Chrome - it's definitely not garbled or barely legible on my monitor in Chrome.
No font is going to look the same in all browsers, but if you are not happy with the way it looks, you might want to consider choosing another font family.
SusanModeratorIn your functions file, this is the area registering that widget:
// Adds widget area before the .menu on #subnav add_filter( 'genesis_do_subnav', 'child_do_subnav_widget', 10, 2 ); function child_do_subnav_widget( $subnav_output, $subnav ){ ob_start(); genesis_widget_area( 'subnav-left', array( 'before' => '<div class="subnav-left widget-area">', ) ); $widget_area = ob_get_clean(); return str_replace( $subnav, $widget_area . $subnav, $subnav_output ); }
SusanModeratorAs you have indicated you got it working, I will mark this thread as "resolved", and go ahead and close it. Please start a new thread if you have any more questions 🙂
SusanModeratorNice job! My one suggestion for a little more pop? Change out the orange theme color for the red which you have in your site title.
Metro is my personal favorite theme right now, so  I understand why you'd be won over. I like the flexibility of the social buttons, too - you can add as many as you like without needing to search for images, etc.
SusanModeratorYou can't have a child of a child theme - you could just create your own child theme (that is, name it "wowtheme" (child of Genesis).
SusanModeratorIt is weird; I'm running the Metro theme myself. I recommend submitting a support ticket at this point, as it is set-up related. I would be interested in knowing what they have to say, because it is perplexing!
SusanModerator@majecdad - Merlin indicated that she dragged a Custom Menu into her header widget area. Did you do the same thing? If so, remove it. You don't have to drag a custom menu anywhere. You need to select the menu you wish to appear under "Primary Navigation".
SusanModeratorYes I did drag the custom menu widget into into the header
You don't need to drag it into a Widget area. Go ahead and look at my screenshot in my earlier post. To the left side of the image, you can see a drop-down where it says "Primary Navigation" - select the custom menu from that drop down, save the changes, and it should populate correctly.
