Loving all the themes I purchased since I went pro with Genesis 😀 However, there is one challenge I have now... I don't really have a good way to easily preview all the themes when I'm trying to pick something out!
I go to shop for themes normally but it'd be real nice if there was some page on this site that allowed you to easily scroll through and just see all the themes on the fly. Is there something already like this?
June 12, 2015 at 8:39 pm #156042HollicoMemberAgreed.
June 12, 2015 at 9:37 pm #156047Erik D. SlaterMemberI'm not sure I understand your problem. Doesn't Appearance -> Themes -> mouse-hover over theme -> Live Preview work?
Also, if you are on the StudioPress theme page, if you open an option in a new tab/window, that usually removes all the additional StudioPress fluff 🙂
Erik D. Slater: Digital Platform Consultant • LinkedInJune 13, 2015 at 6:27 am #156088sethbahookeyMemberNa I think you are misunderstanding me. This is before I would even download the theme. I don't want to download 70 themes then go one by one. That would take forever. I want there to be a page on my studio press account that will preview any theme I have on the fly. Not to mention there are several themes I have now that aren't even on the shop for themes page.
I need something quick and easy to view 🙂
June 13, 2015 at 9:10 am #156094MoodyRivieraMemberWhat?!? This doesn't work for you?
http://my.studiopress.com/themes/Go to http://my.studiopress.com/themes/ scroll through the screenshots, click "See Details and Pricing" to find out more, and if you want to see a working demo of the theme click "Full Theme Demo"...how much easier could it get?

June 13, 2015 at 9:21 am #156095sethbahookeyMemberAs I mentioned before.. there are several themes I see in my studiopress that aren't on the shop for themes pages, and frankly it's a pretty slow process to go through and click each one then click the demo link etc etc..
Again, I'm looking for a solution where it just shows a skin of the themes and you can easily scroll through them all quickly. As well as updating the list to show all the themes.
June 13, 2015 at 10:29 am #156098MoodyRivieraMemberWhich StudioPress themes do you own that aren't show on that list?

- click on link provided by Moody (you already know how to shop for themes)
- right-click on a theme to open it up in a new tab/window (so you don't lose the list)
- click on "Full Theme Demo"
- right-click on any linkable option to open the theme in a new tab/window to view without the StudioPress stuff getting in the wayI'd suggest that you simply scroll through that original list ... but you'll probably tell me that I'm not understanding you 🙂 And since I'm a soft-n-fluffy kinda guy, my feelings get real hurt real easy-like 🙂
Na I think you are misunderstanding me
Yep 🙂 But one thing you should know about how WordPress works - in general - is that each theme affects your admin dashboard content, e.g. custom post types will add options down the left-hand menu area, widget areas will be added/removed, etc. So it's not quite as simple as you're hoping there.
Indeed, I've seen other sites - displaying the themes for affilate-linking purposes - essentially emulate the StudioPess approach.

Nothing that Studio Press has on their site right now offers what I'm talking about. Frankly, I don't want to spend an hour going through a whole bunch of loading and reloading 70 different themes as I mentioned earlier. Especially when there aren't even themes on the shop for themes page. I feel like it's pretty inefficient to have to download the theme install it on a local copy of WP. After a few weeks I'll probably forget what it looks like and I'll have to do it all over again :/
Some of themes I'm not seeing on the shop for theme section:
Bee Crafty
Blissful
Delicious
Family Tree
Lexiconetc etc
That's the first half of the list. Anyways, I feel like I'm just upsetting people instead of trying to come up with a constructive idea to make it a faster process for Pro members to be able to quickly reference all themes when looking to build a new website. Apologies for ruffling any feathers.
Cheers,
SethJune 13, 2015 at 1:29 pm #156122MoodyRivieraMemberWhat I can tell you is that when I'm looking for a theme, it doesn't take me an hour (as you suggested) just to look through the available StudioPress themes to find one I like. I scroll through the page I linked you to...and I can get a good idea just from looking at the "thumbnails"...and then I click to further investigate the ones I'm interested in...so I guess that's why I'm having a hard time visualizing your problem.
Are you suggesting that there should be a page, where there's something like a screnshot of the home page for every available StudioPress theme...and then you could scroll through that page to find one you like? If so, that's probably not a bad idea...but then of course there would still be the problem of seeing what the various internal pages of each theme would look like, so you would still have to do a lot of clicking.
I don't know where you would find a list like that, but I agree that it might be nice if they had something like that.
In regard to the themes that are missing...i'm guessing those are old themes that StudioPress no longer offers for sale. Just the other day I noticed a theme I was looking for wasn't shown on that list, and I finally decided it must have been removed because it's too old...not offered for sale anymore...of course since I don't work for StudioPress I'm just guessing.

Yeah, I know ... I'm just playing with you there 🙂

Ahhh ... did you purchase the All Themes Pro Package? The themes you listed are not mobile responsive ... even though you can download them from your StudioPress account (presumably for completeness). The fact that they are not viewable on the theme shop page is a good thing 🙂
I feel like I’m just upsetting people ... Apologies for ruffling any feathers.
I don't think you've upset anyone ... and you shouldn't have to apologize for ruffling feathers ... unless you're trolling ... which you're not 🙂
What I would suggest is for you to provide a comparison site/service that does exactly what you're suggesting ... and then send a request to Support. If there are any business entities out there who understand the need to keep their customers happy, Copyblogger Media would have to be among them 🙂
Erik D. Slater: Digital Platform Consultant • LinkedInJune 13, 2015 at 1:59 pm #156124sethbahookeyMemberMoody,
Yep that's what I meant this whole time 😀 just a single page where I can simply scroll through. I understand I wouldn't be able to see every little bit of the theme, but it'd be nice to have that 30k view of the front page so I can quickly see if it's something I'd even like then I can go and preview the demo.
Erik,
Nope, not trolling at all! Just trying to remain humble as I continue to improve my skill sets in the Genesis realm and I'd rather not come off as a jerk 🙂
At any rate, I'm glad we did have a little discussion and some back and forth on this topic. Maybe I can mention it to Brian during the WorkShop next week 😀
