January 12, 2014 at 10:08 am in reply to: Sticky Menu — Remove when resolution is below 600px #84772RobinMember
You can tackle it with CSS in one of two ways, I think. Add this to the media query section where you do not want the sticky menu behavior anymore:
.nav-secondary { display: none !important; /* option one */ position: relative; /* option two*/ }
The first option will hide the sticky menu altogether on small screens, which is fine since it's the same as the primary. The second option keeps the sticky menu but it overlays the primary. They might notice it on scrolling, but they might not. Try both and see if they work for you. HTH

RobinMemberRobinMemberWell, your divs are using things that don't exist. You can't use things like class4, class3, but you can make classes that are unique to help you style. Also, "align left" isn't a valid class, but "alignleft" is. I would suggest using the columns classes instead, maybe, and adding an extra class to your buttons to separate them. I dinked around a bit and came up with an alternative....I made them vertical instead of next to each other (then they go with the questions on a small screen). (You could probably do it with the alignleft and alignright but I'm not sure it's any easier.)
It's a pain to post div code on the forum so I put it in a gist. It's cleaning up your widget and adding a unique class to the button divs, and then you add that class to your stylesheet. Give it a whirl and see if it helps. HTH

RobinMemberI think the problem is the box shadow (three rules for all the browsers) being added to your #inner div at line 441. I dinked around and removed that with Chrome's Developer Tools and it seems to be the issue. If it's critical for you to have it there, you may want to add some margin to your subnav so that the line is consistent across the width of the nav, but from what you say, it sounds like you'd rather remove it. November 22, 2013 at 3:32 pm in reply to: Header Image, Header Widget: Responsive Alignment Problem #75081RobinMemberI don't know if it's possible to swap out the custom header for your own image, but you can scrap the custom header and use your own logo/image from the get go. Here's a tutorial about how to go about it. (That's not the only one, but if you google "genesis use logo header", you'll see others, but this seems to hit all the high points.)
If you put your logo in your theme files instead of using WP like she does, you may need a second/smaller version for your media queries. I usually have a large logo and then one smaller one, which is enough to cover the bases.

RobinMemberOn line 1700 of your style.css, you have:
.communities, .featuredpage, .featuredpost { clear: both; margin: 0; overflow: hidden; }
That clear is making them go vertical even though you have a float: left applied in line 1707. Try removing that.
You'll maybe also want to try changing that margin (above) to margin: 0 auto; so that the communities div centers. I think you may want that set to only be for .communities, but haven't tried that. HTH

RobinMemberYour first function is hooked to
genesis_before_entry
, which is correct since you're using an HTML5 theme. Thegenesis_after_content
hook is an XHTML hook; you probably wantgenesis_after_entry
instead.HTH

RobinMemberYou can move it with this code snippet.
If you want to make it fixed like the Magazine Pro nav, you'll need to style it something like the Magazine Pro's .nav-primary is done (you can check that with Chrome's Developer Tools or Firebug in Firefox).

RobinMemberNot directly, no. You could create your pages and use the Genesis SEO settings underneath the editor to redirect those pages to your external site--no content in the editor, just set your slider image as your featured image and set up the redirect--and then add those pages to your slider.
Another option would be to use a responsive slider like Soliloquy (which does have a lite version in the repo). With this plugin, you create your slides directly and link them to whatever content you want, wherever it is. (example: you can link slides in the same slider to posts or pages, but the Genesis one makes you pick posts or pages) Soliloquy is a premium plugin but it's worth it. (Not an affiliate)

November 22, 2013 at 7:18 am in reply to: Different fonts for body and entry content paragraphs? #74937RobinMemberTo target a specific page, you need to find the body class which makes it unique. If you're using the standard Genesis blog template, you can add .page-template-page_blog-php to the front of the class you want to modify, possibly (without a link to the page in question, I'm just guessing):
.page-template-page_blog-php .entry-content p { your different code }
The classes you're using are too broad, so will affect the entire site. To see what classes are applied to the page, use Chrome's Developer Tools, or Firebug in Firefox, and look at the body tag at the top of the source code in the HTML. HTH

RobinMemberIt's done by hand using a text widget. Here's the demo widget content which you can copy, paste, and edit as needed. (This is the original eleven40; if you're using the new one, look in the setup instructions for that one in case it's different.) HTH

RobinMemberLook at the text widget for your call to action button (the cool daddy call to action button). The link there is not properly closed and it's giving the entire rest of the page conniptions.
Close with: , not <a/> ... think that may sort you out. HTH (if the forum eats my code again it's /a, not a/ inside)

RobinMemberI haven't used News but just installed it to see--even though you are not using a custom header image, try going into the Appearance>Header and check the box to "Show Header Text with your image." I did not have to change the text color but once I picked that box, the background turned white for me. Seems wonky but try it?

RobinMemberYou are very welcome, Krishna!
If what you've put in works, that's fine--when I had been playing around with it a bit, the content area had ended up being a bit too wide, so the sidebar was pushed out of the way because it didn't fit. But if it's working for you, that's the important thing. Glad it's all sorted.

RobinMemberTry something like:
.footer-widgets { background: #333; }
I just pulled that with the Chrome Developer Tools--it looks like .footer-widgets doesn't have any styling applied beforehand. HTH

RobinMemberIt would be easier to code in a border than to change the image, probably. You can try adding something like:
border-right: #ccc double 2px;
to your .content-sidebar #content, .sidebar-content #content rule (where you changed the width, line 809). That will screw up the sidebar, so you will want to change the width at line 1372 to 303px or lower.
If you use Chrome, try the Chrome Developer Tools, or Firebug with Firefox--you can actually do a lot of experimenting with changing your CSS without breaking anything, and if it works, you can copy it to your stylesheet. HTH

RobinMemberIf you want to use an image, you'll have to create a new one--you might be able to reuse the old one and just shift and crop it differently--I haven't looked that closely. Hope that helps--

RobinMemberIf you're willing to get your hands dirty, sure. Sridhar Katakam has a great tutorial to do exactly this. HTH

RobinMemberThat line is coming from a static background image (look at line 640 in your style.css). You can remove the background and fix it...if you want a line to still be between the two, you'll need to add a border to the side of either your content area or your sidebar--you can experiment with Chrome's Developer Tools or Firebug in Firefox. HTH

RobinMemberKind of...you want to just do an action to remove the standard loop and create your own.
`remove_action ('genesis_loop', 'genesis_do_loop'); // Remove the standard loop add_action( 'genesis_loop', 'genesis_standard_loop', 5 ); // Include the editor content add_action( 'genesis_loop', 'rgc_do_loop' ); // Add custom loop function rgc_do_loop() { Put your args here for your loop Then preface this with your if/while posts lines echo '<a href="' . get_permalink() .'" title="' . the_title_attribute( 'echo=0' ) . '">'; echo '</a>'; the_content_limit ( 300, '[ Read More ]' ); // change the number to how long you want the content to be }`
If the titles link to the posts, you may need to use the hooks to remove meta and other information that shouldn't be on it. If you need help setting up the template like this, I've blogged about it. It may not be the best way to do this kind of thing but it's been working for me.
Hope that helps get you started--
