Hi,
a new customer has a WP site with WP-Bakery Visual Composer.
I need to change the theme with a Genesis Child Theme (Minimum).
Is WP-Bakery Visual Composer compatible with Genesis?Note: deactivate WP-Bakery Visual Composer is very hard.
"Visual Composer leaves behind a horrible amount of shortcodes. Imagine having to be the person that has to remove all these shortcodes before implementing a new theme."

Hello,
First of all I would like to mention that I am not a coder/webdeveloper. I have no knowledge of PHP, HTML. All I know is very little CSS. I am very eager in learning webdevelopment tho. I want to become a designer/developer by doing and learning online.
I have purchased all studiopress child themes already.
I have worked with visual composer (VC) before and I found it very easy creating pages with that. So I was wondering if it's possible to use visual composer with Genesis and the genesis childthemes.
Can anyone tell me if they have used it together and how they used it? Like what did you use Genesis/the childtheme for and what did you use VC for when creating that website?
I am looking forward to your replies, thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Walter
Topic: Hi, set of lame questions.
Hi, thinking about starting my websites. Wanna have 2 business related blogs and news website.
I'v been learning WP for almost 2 months, built my site, and it's aper to slow (( about 3 seconds per page. Yes I did use bench of plugins, like all in one seo or seo by yast, comment system from discus, google xml and analytics plugins, iTheme security, image optimizer, w3 total cache, Hide my WP (for more security), and Visual composer + add-ons for building my pages and posts. Plus I use Social share buttons, Slider, back up plugin, and gonna use BBpress and restrict content plugin and more.
So, my best load resolute is 2-4seconds per page, and 4 is too much.
I started google and found your community and Genuine Framework, google says G Frame really fast, and I believe, but would it make difference with all my plugins in use?I'v read studiopress site, they say G framework is protected, so do I need iTheme security?
They say, G Frame has nice comment system, so do I need Discus plugin? cane users logging in with Facebook to post comment?
Do your themes have built in plugins like VC, or some other system for building custom pages?
I watched Demo themes (child) and they all have the same post layout, and it's really simple, there is no masonry layouts or different blog layouts.So, what should I do? by framework or not, will it make my website faster?
And question for community, is there real help here for customizing website?
How easy to install new Child theme on the framework? Will I get G frame 3.0 and 4.0 if I buy whole package now? will i get G Framework 3 and 4 if I buy only G frame now and one Theme I Like?
What's the point of buying while theme pack if i Need only 2 themes? can I buy Second Child theme without framework? For like 50$?Thank you for your time, and really big thank you if you answered my questions 😉
Topic: A real full wide theme
I can't hardly believe there's no full wide theme available for Genesis at Studiopress.
With full wide I mean:
• browser full wide
• fixed content areaI tryed to find a (child) theme for Genesis where I could work with Visual Composer (VC) plugin.
One of VC features is to insert a browser wide row. Unfortunatly in Genesis themes this row is only displaying in the content area.Now I'm forced to, let's say, Elegant Themes with their Divi theme with a page builder that fits my needs perfect.
I'm using the WP-Bakery Visual Composer plugin with my custom genesis child theme. The columns classes aren't working and I checked with their support, they said the most likely cause was missing Body_Class() function in the header template.
******Their Response*******
Can you check if the theme is missing body_class(); function call in the body tag in html (most likely in header.php file)
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/body_class
We hugely rely on wp_head(); body_class(); and wp_footer(); in the theme.
******My Reply**********
I looked through the theme files and found both the wp_head(); and the wp_footer();
But I could find the body_class();The closest thing I found was this:
genesis_markup( array(
'html5' => '<body %s>',
'xhtml' => sprintf( '<body class="%s">', implode( ' ', get_body_class() ) ),
'context' => 'body',
) );in the header file. Will that work?
*******Their Response**********
The get_body_class function: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_body_class is different from the body_class: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/body_class
I will recommend you to add the body_class function to the body tag, so our plugin can work fine. If you are not sure as to where the body tag is present in the theme, you can get in touch with the theme author.
********End Discussion*******So my question is this: Where is the body_class() function in genesis? Is it being used or is it missing and I need to add it? Or is something else entirely going on here?
Thanks!
With well over 100.000 users, Visual Composer (VC) is leading for page building in WordPress. I've tried to profit from my VC plugin by purchasing a full wide them (centric) but the row in VC remain in the content area instead of full wide. So it is a pity there's no theme within Genesis that does fit. Why is that?
I like to propose here that Studiopress create a theme that function 100% with VC.
Welcome!
