Its nice to know that i was helpful for you, Well Visual Composer is a complete package and you can use it almost on every wordpress based theme and this tool supports Genesis and Genesis Child Themes Perfectly. You can create multiple rows and do whatever you like to do, there are few more composers are available but they don't have too much functionality compared to VC.

I am going to launch my website sooner and going to give my users ability to use Aqua Page Builder to build pages according to their need.

Thank you so much for the reply. And wow -- thank you most of all for mentioning Visual Composer. This is new to me, and I had no idea. But that's the exact solution I need for my client, because it would allow us to create a similar look for her site. I'm going to spend some time today exploring it further, but I do think that might be the solution I'm looking for. And it's less expensive than Design Palette Pro.

One follow-up question: If I plan to use Visual Composer, does it matter what theme I start with? I'm not sure I fully grasp how the custom layout designed with VC overrides the theme design. The VC website says it can be used with any WordPress theme, so I suppose the answer to my question is that no, it doesn't matter. But if you have any advice on a starter theme to use with VC, I'm all ears.

Not necessarily. There are people that use VC with Genesis. I don't use that plugin at all, so keep that caveat in mind. In any case, Visual Composer is designed to work with most WP themes.

But be aware of this: VC uses a ton of shortcodes to alter your layouts. if you make heavy use of it, when you uninstall it, you'll suddenly see loads of dead shortcodes all over your content, and your custom formatting will vanish. This isn't necessarily fatal to your site, but it's a pretty big pain to clean up, and you'll probably be very annoyed that all your VC formatting is gone. Just as in many shortcode-heavy plugins, the plugin developers keep that rather quiet, otherwise they might not make the sale.

To put it another way, once they've got you, they've got you. 😉

So I suppose I'd say that if you've already bought Genesis, give it a try with Visual Composer, and I think in most cases you'll be fine.

I haven't done it, as I have no need for that. But I believe people do use this with Genesis.

Whether you're using it with Genesis or something else, be aware that if you change themes, as I recall, you'll have to keep Visual Composer running - if not, you'll end up with pages full of dead shortcodes. So once you're in with VC, you're "all in" - to remove it, you'd have a big clean-up job. WYSIWYG is always tempting, but there are invariably some hidden costs.

Does anyone know if you can use the wpbakery Visual Composer Front End Builder with Genesis Child Themes? I ask because I have seen some generic posts on other web sites saying that the VC front end builder may not work with all theme suppliers.

I have read every thread on this forum that talks about Visual Composer, and would be highly interested in any additional comments regarding its use with Genesis Child Themes. Successful? Problems?

Well, visual composer does look like it might have the edge on the others. I compared it with thrive content builder and a few others (maybe something like zoom or something).

The things that VC have going for it are 1) it is inexpensive and, more importantly, 2) it has the templatera add on extension for $11 which will allow you to copy elements from one page to another and then make a global update.

I could see how VC could work well in conjunction with genesis.

The one thing that worries me about visual editors in general is compatibility with most third-party modules. Hopefully VC is compatible with things like Contact form 7 and lots of other common modules.

Kelly is giving you way too many options there.

Visual Composer (VC) was the original page builder plugin and still the best selling plugin on Code Canyon. The reason for this is unbridled support and constant non-stop develop since 2011. Innovating every feature included and a lot of development time.

There's 100's of clone page builders out there. Some are probably even really good, (the one included in Kallyas theme is a good example) but it's hard to ignore the big elephant in the room. Especially when there's 1000's of people pointing at it.

Future versions of VC will include many styles of paralax design (already included in many of the cheap extensions you can get for VC and the one I listed), plus many other great features and you have updates for life.

I don't work for them, or have any affiliation (besides having an affiliate code, which I didn't include in my URL's) Just a happy customer.

You want "Visual Composer" ($28 here) and "Visual Composer Extensions" ($17 here)

Plus there's tons of other VC plugins with different stylesheets if the extension plugin doesn't tickle your fancy. However I like it as $17 for just about every element you can imagine.

As far as actual "theming" goes. Find a theme you like inspect elements and copy css until you have something identical.

As I have done in other themes where Visual Composer is integrated, i am trying to put a row of three links (in the form of buttons) below the main menu.

This row of buttons is located below the main menu, in the genesis_after_header hook, and is supposed to appear in any page.

The advantage of making it with VC is that the line of buttons is resizable and responsive.

Right, thank you braddlaton. I tried it but nothing changes. This is the effect I get.

This is my Visual Composer shortcode:

[vc_row][vc_column width="1/3"][vc_column_text] ... all the rest of the shortcode + HTML code ... [/vc_row]

What I get is the HTML content IN the shortcode, but WITHOUT the effect of the shortcode.

In the example above, the shortcode should produce three 1/3 columns with HTML content in them.

The result is the correct HTML code without the shortcode effect, and in this case it is the three 1/3 sections.

BUT... if i enter just [vc_row][/vc_row] in the page or post content, say at the beginning of the text, the shortcode is correctly activated.

This shortcode generates this html code:

<div class="vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid"></div>

So strange, isnt'it?

I have only played with the Genesis Simple Page Sections a little, but it required some css tweaking to make it full width.

For both the solutions, if it was just me, it would be fine; but I think they require more coding than my client is going to be comfortable with. They love the look of Genesis and Parallax Pro but want to be able to build a site like AdamBraun.com doing most of the work themselves. I just don't think that's going to be possible without some custom coding.

I know a page-builder is not what you're looking for, Anakyst, but I'm curious to know how something like Visual Composer might work with Parallax Pro.

Is WP-Bakery Visual Composer compatible with Genesis?

Note: deactivate WP-Bakery Visual Composer is very hard.

+10 to that!

Visual Composer appears to work well for the challenges involved in the quote above. In addition VC has extensibility [if that's the right word] that many others have taken advantage of [e.g. VC-popup, VC-ihover etc..]. I would think it's well worth a try. It has depth, breadth and is designed to be a drag-n'drop [visual] solution. Given a few days commitment to learning I would think it should serve well.

Another thing you could look at, if you're not too far down the road, is Divi. It's a substantial solution - and not just to the issue that started this thread.
