Blockquote is an HTML element. You can't use it as a class. You were on the right track:
echo('<blockquote>your static text here</blockquote>');

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorTables should never be used for page layout. Not only is it old school, but tables are bad for the following reasons:
- Slow to render as the browser needs to download most - if not all - of the table to render it properly
- They require more HTML than non-table layouts which means slower loading and rendering, as well as an increased bandwidth usage
- They can be a nightmare to maintain as they can quickly get complex
- They can break text copying
- They negatively affect screen readers and may make your content inaccessible to some users
- They are not as flexible as using proper semantic markup
- They were never intended to be used for page layouts
- Making tables into a responsive layout is very difficult to control
A better choice is formatting the area with divs and Genesis column classes (http://my.studiopress.com/tutorials/content-column-classes/) or CSS table classes: http://programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/277778/why-are-people-making-tables-with-divs

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorWith responsive designs images will scale to fit their viewports. When I view the image info on my Retina MacBook Pro, your jboss-cloud.png image is scaled: 810px ?— 450px (scaled to 760px ?— 422px). GTMetrix is scaling to 500x278 because the window or iFrame into which they load the site is probably 500px wide. So when it comes to sizing images, you should use a size that matches the largest size you need on your page. In your case, your content area is 760px wide. This is the largest size you need to provide a full width image across the top of your content. So this leaves with you with two choices:
1. You can edit the default WordPress image sizes in the Admin/Settings/Media menu.
2. You can create a custom image size and add it to your media library attachment display settings dropdown: http://victorfont.com/add-custom-image-sizes-to-media-library/

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorThe majority of Studio Press themes have a full-width (one column) layout. Look at the demos and pick one that appeals to you. You can view the different layouts available in each demo.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?October 28, 2015 at 4:52 am in reply to: [genesis] anyone seen problems in print preview with text being cut off? #169336Victor FontModeratorIt's going to happen with any browser with long pages. This is because there is no pagination and the browser doesn't know where to end one page and start another. Preparing web pages for printing requires special handling with CSS or the use of a helper plugin.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?October 27, 2015 at 12:14 pm in reply to: Genesis: Different logo on homepage than interior pages #169229Victor FontModeratorIn order to do what you want, you need to move the logo from the background into an img tag. This article will show you how to do this: http://victorfont.com/genesis-seo-schema-site-logo/
Once you've got this done, you can use jQuery to change the img source based on the page you are on. It's going to take some coding, but it is doable.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorYou need to force the reload of the style sheet in some browsers because of their caching. That's going to happen with any theme. Hold down the shift key while you refresh the page.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorThe way you have the function commented will produce an error. The comment tag //* only comments a single line of code. The rest of the function is still exposed to PHP but will generate an error. If you want to comment out the entire clock of code, you have to wrap it all in opening and closing comment tags:
/* function home_welcome_genesis() { if( is_front_page() || is_home() ) { echo 'your static text here'; } } */
Also, echo is language construct and not a function that requires parens.
If this message is static, you should probably use a widget or apply the message to a hook. The home page is front-page.php in your child theme's directory.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorYou could use the editor on the Admin Appearance/Editor menu or FTP into your site, download the file, edit it, and reupload it. If you make a mistake editing a file in the WordPress editor, you could take your site down and you'll have to use FTP anyway to fix it.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorYou could wrap the code you have in simple hooks in a php if statement to exclude the landing page template:
<?php if (! is_page_template("your-template-name") ) { ?> your code <?php } ?>
Make sure the Execute php on this hook is checked.
Here are more details on that function: https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/is_page_template
