Two thoughts. First, when I inspect your source code, you have some badly formed HTML. The are too many closing tags for some of the elements. Bad HTML can prevent things from working. Second, you may have a plugin conflict. You'll have to go through the basic WordPress troubleshooting steps to see if a plugin is at fault.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorYou need the CSS as well to position it. Did you copy the CSS from any other theme?

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorThe backstretch image you are using is very long. I don't think it has too be that long since the image isn't scrolling. I would crop it down to reduce it's size. Also, the site is using code to fade the image in. After the image loads, it fades in slowly. This could present the illusion that the image is loading slowly. You could edit the theme's /js/backstretch.js to remove the fadein effect.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorEnqueuing the font alone won't make it display. You have to change the font-family in CSS to tell the system what font to use. Right now you are using the generic browser fonts: font-family: Lato, sans-serif;

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorWhat did you actually delete? The code in functions is:
//* Reposition the footer remove_action( 'genesis_footer', 'genesis_footer_markup_open', 5 ); remove_action( 'genesis_footer', 'genesis_do_footer' ); remove_action( 'genesis_footer', 'genesis_footer_markup_close', 15 ); add_action( 'genesis_header', 'genesis_footer_markup_open', 11 ); add_action( 'genesis_header', 'genesis_do_footer', 12 ); add_action( 'genesis_header', 'genesis_footer_markup_close', 13 );
You would need to delete the entire block.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorNo. A post cannot be a static home page. Only a page can be a static front page.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?March 31, 2016 at 10:22 pm in reply to: Using enqueue script for Google Analytics autotrack.js #182617Victor FontModeratorYou really don't need to use wp_enqueue_script for the Google scripts. You could just cut and paste them in the header script area on the Genesis/Theme Settings page. No need to do anything in php for these scripts. Don't forget to change the UA-XXXXX-Y to your sites UA tracking number.
<script> window.ga=window.ga||function(){(ga.q=ga.q||[]).push(arguments)};ga.l=+new Date; ga('create', 'UA-XXXXX-Y', 'auto'); ga('require', 'autotrack'); ga('send', 'pageview'); </script> <script async src='https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js'></script> <script async src='path/to/autotrack.js'></script>

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorIf you check out your site on the responsive test site, (http://www.studiopress.com/responsive/), you see that the site is responsive. Your first post with the welcome message does not allow your URL (BestChefKnivesOntheWeb.com) in the first line to line-break. That's what's causing the site to shift left on smaller screens.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorThe author pro image size is defined in the Genesis Author Pro plugin, but the plugin provides a way to allow you to override the size in the theme's functions.php. If you add the following to functions.php, you will have images that are proportional to the book covers:
add_image_size( 'author-pro-image', 360, 570, FALSE );
You need to install the regenerate thumbnails plugin after you make this change and use it to regenerate your images.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?March 31, 2016 at 5:40 am in reply to: Sample theme – full slider across the entire browser window #182577Victor FontModeratorYou're on the right track, but to create a full width slider on the home page only, you need to make your modifications to front-page.php. This is where the home page code is located. Unfortunately, the Genesis sample theme doesn't have a front-page.php file. It is only meant to demonstrate the flexibility of the Genesis Framework and is the most basic of child themes. It doesn't have the bells and whistles found in premium themes. If you're going to use the Genesis sample theme as a base, you've got a lot of work ahead of you to accomplish what you want to do. You've got to create a front-page.php, register the front page widget areas in functions.php, and create all of the required CSS.
When I have a customer that wants a full-width slider, the Epik theme is my go to starter. It already has a full-width slider widget area built-in, so the coding is all done for you.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorIt's all done with CSS. Create a class and assign it to the link. This is the code I use on my site.
a.button { border: 3px solid #fff; color: #fff !important; background-color: orange; background: transparent; clear: both; font-family: Montserrat, sans-serif; font-size: 18px; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: 1px; margin-top: 20px; padding: 15px 25px; text-transform: uppercase; cursor: pointer; transition: all 0.1s ease-in-out; text-decoration: none; }
Then, if you want the color to change when a person hovers over it:
a.button:hover { background-color: #fff; color: #000 !important; }

Have you requested your free website audit yet?March 30, 2016 at 4:45 am in reply to: How to stack primary and secondary sidebar vertically in LifeStyle Pro theme #182510Victor FontModeratorI realize that plugin doesn't have the stacked look, but it has the side-by-side on the bottom that you can modify. I would choose that layout then modify the CSS so the areas are stacked. The plugin would give you a head start, that's all.
