Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberGot it...these changes should take care of it for you:
article.entry > header.entry-header > a { display: block; overflow: hidden; position: relative; }
Let me know if it's still an issue.
Tony Eppright | http://www.AlphaBlossom.com | Follow me on twitter @_alphablossom
Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberSure, there's no class on the so you can use this instead:
article.entry > header.entry-header > a:before
and then set
article.entry > header.entry-header > a
to "position: relative;"
You can also add .single before it you want to make sure this only targets single pages
.single article.entry > header.entry-header > a:before
That should do it for you, but if not let me know and I'll take another look.

Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberHi,
You can adjust your theme's style.css file (around line 1009):
.enews-widget input { display: block; margin: 0 auto 5px; padding: 8px; width: 80%; }
Have a great night!

Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberCool, glad it helped. You may have to regenerate your images, or reupload them (whichever you think is easier)

Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberHi,
If you use the genesis_before_content_sidebar_wrap hook it will place it before the content/sidebar wrapper (after the nav). So in your function above, replace:
add_action( ‘genesis_before_entry’, ‘news_homepage_feature’, 9 );
with
add_action( ‘genesis_before_content_sidebar_wrap’, ‘news_homepage_feature’ );

Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberHey Tom,
Glad to be of help! I completely understand...recently did a complete redesign of my website, also realizing that I designed it based on what I liked, not what my visitors want to see. It's so easy to get that "tunnel-vision" but glad we figured it out now instead of later 🙂
Have a great night!

Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberHi,
You have to do a couple extra things...try adding this to your theme's style.css file:
a.more-link { background: url("http://www.analisamendmentblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/keepreading.png") no-repeat scroll 2px center rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); display: block; height: 25px; margin: 10px auto 0; text-indent: -9999px; width: 170px; }
That will get you going in the right direction...you can play with changing "block" to "inline-block" if you want the button to continue right after the text (instead of on a new line), add "float: right;" if you want it to the right, etc.
Let me know if you need any help getting it exactly how you want.

Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberHi,
I don't mean to confuse things with another option, but if the option by Sridhar doesn't work, you may be able to do this using css :before, added to your theme's style.css file (if I understand what you're trying to do):
article.entry > a.aligncenter:before { background: url("http://www.fangraphs.com/techgraphs/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Dodger-Stadium-Sunset-1-230x155.jpg") repeat scroll 0 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); bottom: 0; content: " "; display: block; left: 0; opacity: 0.5; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; z-index: 99; } article.entry > a.aligncenter { position: relative; }
That will overlay the "background" image over the baseball image. You can adjust the opacity setting, etc. You'll also have to add a z-index setting for your h4.widgettitle to bring it back to the front.
You might have to tweak the css classes to make sure you target the right images, but this should get you started.
If this solution works for you, don't forget to take a look at browser support to make sure it covers you:

Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberNo problem! front-page.php is the proper way to do it, although some people use home.php...but home.php is meant to be the homepage for blog listings. So yes, "blog" page is a static page that displays your posts.
So in you admin you create a "home" and a "blog" page, and select those in settings > reading. To use a customized home page, create a front-page.php file and create your page. Your blog posts will automatically show on the "Blog" page, but if you need to do some customizations you could create a home.php file for that as well - not required though unless you're making a lot of customizations.
This article does a great job of explaining it http://www.billerickson.net/dont-use-genesis-blog-template/

Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberHello,
You can use a template, but I prefer to create a new file for the home page if it's going to be completely customized. It should be front-page.php, and if you want to have a dedicated blog page you'd follow the same steps and use home.php for the blog home page.

August 18, 2014 at 1:01 pm in reply to: How do you make long Page Titles split where you want on 2 lines & diff colors? #119577Tony @ AlphaBlossomMemberHello Jenny,
I haven't used the plugin you're talking about, but the code above will do what you want. When you're writing a page or post, paste this into the title input field and save it. When you view the page you will see it appear as two lines, the top line will be black (or whatever your normal title color is), and the second line will be red.
Top line <span style="display: block; color: #ff0000;">second line red</span>
The "display: block;" displays the content inside of the <span></tags> as a block element, meaning it will appear on a new line, and anything between the <span></span> tags will be red.
If you want to center it, you can add <span style="display: block; color: #ff0000; text-align: center;">
This does not change your markup, only what's inside, so if your title is an <h1>, it will stay the same.
