You need to address the padding in the input field... and add in a background color.
input[type="search"] { padding: 6px; background-color: antiquewhite; }
You then might want to adjust the placeholder text to complement the background color - here's a guide for reference - http://coolestguidesontheplanet.com/styling-placeholder-text-input-fields-forms-css/

Coolest GuidesneilgeeMemberIn your style.css on line 1165, change
.site-header .widget-area a { color: #fff; }
to
.site-header .widget-area a { color: #000; }
Or whatever color needed

Coolest GuidesneilgeeMemberYou can add in a rule in your style.css to increase the line height (currently set to 30px) to say....
h2 { line-height: 35px; }
just increase the pixel value to suit

//Read More Button For Excerpt function themeprefix_excerpt_read_more_link( $output ) { global $post; return $output . ' <a href="' . get_permalink( $post->ID ) . '" class="more-link" title="Read More">Read More</a>'; } add_filter( 'the_excerpt', 'themeprefix_excerpt_read_more_link' );

Coolest GuidesneilgeeMemberAll the child themes available have their own CSS style file which you should edit directly.
If you are creating a theme from scratch off the framework it is best to start with the Sample Theme which comes with the framework as a download from StudioPress - this also has its own style sheet which you can edit directly.

Coolest GuidesneilgeeMemberPHP is the core language used for the framework, which controls the HTML output. So thats the best starting point, you'll find PHP intro courses on Lynda, Treehouse and CodeAcademy then take a look at Nick the Geeks Genesis Explained - http://designsbynickthegeek.com/tutorials/genesis-explained-the-framework

Coolest GuidesneilgeeMemberYou can try the code below, adjust your character count where it is commented
add_action('genesis_before_loop', 'wpb_change_home_loop'); function wpb_change_home_loop() { if( is_home() ) { /** Replace the home loop with our custom **/ remove_action( 'genesis_loop', 'genesis_do_loop' ); add_action( 'genesis_loop', 'wpb_custom_loop' ); /** Custom lode loop */ function wpb_custom_loop() { if ( have_posts() ) : do_action( 'genesis_before_while' ); while ( have_posts() ) : the_post(); do_action( 'genesis_before_entry' ); printf( '<article %s>', genesis_attr( 'entry' ) ); do_action( 'genesis_entry_header' ); do_action( 'genesis_before_entry_content' ); printf( '<div %s>', genesis_attr( 'entry-content' ) ); //do_action( 'genesis_entry_content' ); //Remove standard excerpt echo genesis_do_post_image(); //Add in featured image echo the_excerpt_max_charlength(200); //change amount of characters to display echo '</div>'; do_action( 'genesis_after_entry_content' ); do_action( 'genesis_entry_footer' ); echo '</article>'; do_action( 'genesis_after_entry' ); endwhile; //* end of one post do_action( 'genesis_after_endwhile' ); else : //* if no posts exist do_action( 'genesis_loop_else' ); endif; //* end loop } } } //Limit the excerpt by character - http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_the_excerpt function the_excerpt_max_charlength($charlength) { $excerpt = get_the_excerpt(); $charlength++; if ( mb_strlen( $excerpt ) > $charlength ) { $subex = mb_substr( $excerpt, 0, $charlength - 5 ); $exwords = explode( ' ', $subex ); $excut = - ( mb_strlen( $exwords[ count( $exwords ) - 1 ] ) ); if ( $excut < 0 ) { echo mb_substr( $subex, 0, $excut ); } else { echo $subex; } echo ' <br><a href="' . get_permalink() . For BuddyPress help check out their forums.

Coolest GuidesOctober 18, 2014 at 12:36 am in reply to: How do I hide a category but still keep the post available? #128228neilgeeMemberYou can do this either by hiding it in CSS or using a PHP code block to hide the post meta based on the Category ID/SLug
function themeprefix_hide_certain_category() { if( in_category( 'slider' ) ) { remove_action( 'genesis_entry_footer', 'genesis_post_meta' ); } } add_action('genesis_after_header','themeprefix_hide_certain_category');
So in the above the post meta will not render on single posts that belong to the category 'slider' - you would add this in your functions.php file.

Coolest GuidesneilgeeMemberSeems like my code didn't remove the original function but added the new one, so that's why their is duplicates - if you search for
'genesis_do_post_image'
in the functions.php file - can you post the full function it is in.
Neil Gee
WP Beaches
Coolest GuidesneilgeeMemberYou would have to give the image a higher priority on the archive page, add in a snippet in functions.php ....
add_action( 'genesis_before_content', 'themeprefix_swap_title_image_cpt' ); function themeprefix_swap_title_image_cpt() { if ('is_archive' && 'wap-community' == get_post_type()) {//add in your CPT name remove_action( 'genesis_entry_header', 'genesis_do_post_image' ); add_action( 'genesis_entry_header', 'genesis_do_post_image', 2 ); } }
This would target the archive page for the 'wap-community', remove the image and then add in at a higher priority.

WP Beaches
Coolest GuidesneilgeeMemberYou can try this in your style.css
.home-bottom .featured-content .entry-title { margin-top: -5px; }

Coolest GuidesneilgeeMemberWhat the issue was that by default the column CSS classes have a float left attribute.
By just adjusting the float to the right on the smaller column width allows enough room for the 2nd 2/3 column to pop up.
But the lower element (2nd 2/3 column) also was clearing the surrounding elements as it had a clear set to both, setting the clear to none allows it to move up.
Neil Gee
WP Beaches
Coolest GuidesneilgeeMemberWhat you need to do is add a float right to the one-third area and a clear none to the featured-slot-2
.one-third { float:right; } .featured-slot-2 { clear: none; }
I would add a unique class to the one-third div and apply the float to that as if you are going to use one-third in other areas
