Thanks Marcy. So you are right indeed. SP must have updated Enterprise Pro to include the latest (smarter) mobile menu. So why would there be a need to run through steps 1 to 3? Curious. Thanks.
MealtogMemberHey, mind sharing the post about making navigation sticky?
MealtogMemberWow, just found the switch inside Yoast. Indeed, it was this causing all the grief. Yaost removes stop words to try and help with SEO. But in real life, this can cause grief.
In Yoast >> Permalinks, disabled this: "Remove stop words from slugs."
Set this thread as resolved.
MealtogMemberHmmm, thanks for the great feedback. Let me dig into Yoast more. Will report back.
MealtogMemberDoes WP not sanitize titles and remove and, or etc... from the titles before turning them into URLs?
I do have Yoast installed.
Can anyone confirm this?
It seems odd (well, at least for someone who also uses Drupal) that controlling the terms that are sanitized is not available on core or a plugin?
MealtogMemberJust loaded UpdraftPlus and ran a backup to Dropbox. Pretty slick. Am I right in thinking that this backup is not a "cloned" backup like BackWPUp but just the database and file system?
Now, can anyone tell me the right procedure to restore. Is it:
1. Install WP
2. Inject SQL file into mysql
3. upload entire filesystemDone?
MealtogMemberBump. I have been looking into this and it looks like a function inside core itself determines the sanitation of the titles for the URL. Is there no way to control this on our end besides editing the slug after publishing? I tested one post and doing it before publishing results in the slug still getting sanitized.
MealtogMemberIs there an equivalent to the "Log In" link if we change footer text manually? SO instead of linking to /wp-admin, it would show Log In when you are not logged in and show Log Out if you are indeed logged in.
MealtogMemberThanks. I will have to try this.
Can I clarify that this will stop all those annoying internal trackback comments that we have to approve for Pages? Will it stop trackbacks and pingbacks for posts as well?
MealtogMemberThanks as always Brad. Can you tell me when that tutorial was written? It links to an out-dated plugin. I just cannot believe WP needs code to disable pingbacks these days?
MealtogMemberThanks for looking into this Anita. Unfortunately, Settings >> Discussion >> Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) is not selected. And a truck load of these approvals came into comments today from internal linking. It's getting annoying. How else can I disable this?
MealtogMemberI have tried this in 2 WP sites. There is no option to change pingbacks for Pages. Only in Posts using the above bulk method. Anyone else see this too?
MealtogMemberWhen inside Posts, I see the place to edit pingbacks. When in Pages, there is no such option. Any ideas?
MealtogMemberWhat about for Pages? One site is getting too many trackbacks from internal page linking and it's driving me nuts. Any ideas?
MealtogMemberThis is a known issue. I have asked here a few times and opened up 2 tickets with SP. It has something to do with the WordPress admin bar at the top conflicting. Susan, the only reason you don't see the issue is because you are not logged in so you don't see the WP admin bar.
The only option now is to use code to disable the admin bar or go into each profile to disable the admin bar from showing up for signed in users. Not very elegant but, no solution is out there yet.
MealtogMemberSo would you recommend "Send email only on Reply to My Comment" to make this happen as opposed to Jetpack?
MealtogMemberHey, there it is, whatdya know. Always launched with Disqus and never with WP comments. Got it to show up now, thank you Anita!
MealtogMemberThese were either trackback or pingbacks, I cannot tell. They were in the Comments section to be approved. I remember WP used to display these, using Executive Pro theme now and these do not show. Do I need to flip a switch somewhere?
MealtogMemberThe original user who made the comment and not the admin.
MealtogMemberSo that is the issue. I really should take the time to replace the Simple Edits plugin with manual functions. Better yet, maybe SP will roll out an updated Simple Edits plugin that has been infused with steroids. 🙂 It would then be Genesis Power Edits. Man that is a good idea.
