Silly me. I just saw that. Also remove the 1 line for your post_class and it looks good. Along a similar line, do you know of way to display child pages using this method?
MealtogMemberThanks @genrock. Looks like these templates are almost the same as the default Blog template. Is there a way to limit the content and show a featured image (left justified) like a typical Archive Page for posts?
MealtogMemberI am still a little surprised that there is not a good plugin for this feature. Found one but it was a little quirky and not truly responsive. Maybe will just go back to the old normal bulleted list to display child pages. Boring!
MealtogMemberGood idea, never considered that. Except how do we limit the content like the archive pages? First 250 characters and show featured image etc...
November 11, 2014 at 3:15 am in reply to: Enterprise Pro – Adding a Widget Area Between Home Top and Home Bottom #131163MealtogMemberInteresting. I tried the aboev code and it is still below home bottom. Does anyone know if there is a resolution for this?
MealtogMemberI wonder if Query Wrangler will work with custom post types. I have tested it in the past, I know it works for Posts, just not Pages yet. At least based on the author of the plugin.

Hope this works for you.
MealtogMemberok, this is a little beyond my understanding of how to do this. Essentially, I am trying to just display a Parent page so that all child pages is nicely sorted with say some content, a title and a featured image. Kind of like a Post archive page but for Pages.
Did a search for "displaying child pages with featured image" and found some WordPress specific tutorials. But not sure how to incorporate this into Genesis. Here is an example: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/show-list-of-child-pages-of-current-page-w-featured-image
Can anyone share a short tutorial on how I can do this?
MealtogMemberI don't think you should have a fear of your site slowing down because of the adding Genesis and a child theme. It may but it will be minimal, at least in my experience. Your web host and the number of plugins you have installed may have more to do with speed than the child theme. The only one I can think of that others have commented on being slow to slow are the ones with the large image backgrounds like Metro Pro.
Good luck.
MealtogMemberHey Brad,
I was hoping to display these "archive" pages when there is a Parent page called and it contains child pages. Have any idea on how to do this?
MealtogMemberUnfortunately, I just tried the new embed code for Youtube videos and it has too small a default size. Using the width and height variables results in no change. Looks like I will stick with the Youtube iframe tag from here on.
MealtogMemberTaxonomy is just your categories correct? How can this be tied into Pages? Sorry, may not be following completely.
MealtogMemberHey great way to deal with this is to out put a tag. Was that what you did? Nice. I normally take Taxonomy = Category in WordPress.
MealtogMemberCurious. I have seen this method of inserting a Youtube video. Does anyone use this method or do you use the iframe embed code from Youtube itself?

MealtogMemberI see where you are going with this. In my experience, especially for brick and mortar businesses where pages are important to the business current and potential clientele, I have always used pages for the usual About Us, Contact Us, etc...
And yes, it does mean you won't be able to use widgets that can show 3 items let's say. But I find that for a brick and mortar, they normally show 3-6 "blocks" on their homepage and that means setting up 3-6 Page widgets. Once it's set, it's easy enough for any client to go in and swap out pages. At least after some training, I think most can do this.
The only time I would showcase more than 1 page in any widget is to use the responsive slider where I choose Pages and manually enter the Post ID.
Like you, I recommend to clients to use Posts for data sensitive info (in general) and Pages for non time sensitive info. But, there are some businesses that still manually update Pages that are highly used for announcements. Instead of having an announcement inside posts, some clients prefer to manage 1 page all year round and swap time sensitive content on this 1 page.
There is no right or wrong, but I would suggest doing what you are doing. Time sensitive content in posts and all others in pages.
MealtogMemberCan you explain a bit more as to why this typical group of pages is an issue? Are you thinking you want to use Posts instead for these?
MealtogMemberThe Ultimate Coming Soon Page plugin should do the trick. Install, activate, enable it (set a default page of what users will see). Only logged in users can see the development site.
September 23, 2014 at 7:13 pm in reply to: Do You Ask Clients to Purchase Framework and Theme? #125494MealtogMemberI don’t know that a client has ever had a question for which they would need support directly from StudioPress
This is what I think as well. I have found some still want to cover all future scenarios and insist on making the purchase so I guess it's an option for the client to choose.
Anyone else?
MealtogMemberIs the "rotator" a Genesis Slider? If so, there should be settings inside the Genesis Settings to enable links for slideshow items.
Just re-read your post. Looks like it's not the Genesis slider. Disregard my note above.
Maybe you can remove the rotator plugin and use the Genesis slider plugin?
MealtogMemberThanks for chiming in March. I do appreciate it!
