MemberI am seeing odd issues with ipad and iphones as well. In particular with Featured Images not being their normal size (700 wide) but just a small thumbnail. This only happens on my iOS devices and NOT happening when I resize my desktop browser to the mobile widths. I am using Metro Pro.

MemberI wonder why this was not rolled out in the last version of Genesis?
Mealtog
MemberThanks! Got it.

MemberHey good info. Now I hope we can see newer themes get rolled out soon.

MemberThe only thing I did was run a few plugin updates. And not even sure that was at the same time as the 404's. Gotta love how WP can break by itself without anyone touching it. lol

MemberI think the niche you are in is perfect for the online medium. Young readers who have a big passion for your subject matter. This itself is a big bonus in running a business.
Often, website owners think they run a website. I think you have already discovered that you are running a business. 🙂
And the biggest question is how much time you dedicate to social media. What measurements do we use to gauge success and how many hours a week you put into this business. Give and take 🙂

MemberI think Instagram is a hit and miss and really depends on the medium and vertical. G+ is just an oddity. People rave about massive followers but extremely few marketers in my contacts have yielded any positive net results yet. With G Authorship dieing, not sure G+ is as important it was before (or as useful as Google makes it out to be).
FB can drive traffic and so can Pinterest, much more than IG or G+ in my experience. It takes lots of time, effort and know how to maximize all these channels. We can only do so much right?
Given your articles, I wonder if you see any good results coming in from Stumbleupon. Interesting.

MemberHey nice photos. Very nice indeed.
There comes a time when readership grows and the site owner has the urge to move to a faster server. But there is always hesitation with cost and stability. Even if you move to a new faster host, there is always fear of losing stability, good backups / recovery protocol. I hear ya.
There are more and more options when it comes to premium hosting these days. In fact, there are some that will take care of backups, caching, and page load speed, CDN on your behalf. It's not nearly as expensive as it used to be a few years ago.
I see you run 3-4 CPM / CPC ad spots and maybe even a few direct paid advertisers. That is good. With a PR4 site, growing readership and a good following in social media, I am guessing it is only a matter of time before you optimize revenue even more and move to a dream host of your choice. All the best.

MemberThis is a tricky one. Many times, GA lists load times includign all external scripts, that is why it takes up to 20 seconds some times depending on what is called externally.
Pingdom normally reports how many Bytes has been downloaded and not necessary including ALL scripts.
Here is something that you might be interested to work on: http://www.webpagetest.org/result/150221_E3_4DJ/
First load time is 10 secs. This is typical of a shared host.
2nd time loading is 3.5 secs. Not bad, so your caching seems to be working ok. Are you running caching? Numbers say you are but Grade on top of the page says your site is not.
These times are ok unless your host helps. Not sure you can make things any better with all the gorgeous images you load on your homepage.
See the C, C, D, F, F. If you really wanted to tweak things even more, you can try and work with your web host to get these closer to a A rating.
Hope that helps.

MemberThanks. Have installed Genesis Simple Share and it is pretty nice, aesthetically and functionally. Running this at the top of all Posts and another plugin for the bottom as it includes Email and Print function.
Does Jetpack have a goo Share module that is responsive?
Mealtog
MemberThanks Carlo. I finally implemented all 3 and something in each always needed fixing / tweaking. At least for the theme that I am using (Enterprise Pro). Then it dawned on me, the plugin I was using had issues only with mobile. So I used CSS to disable the floating bar from showing up in mobile device and all is good again. I guess the above instructions are starting points and some customization is needed to make it work with specific themes.

MemberLet me give this a try. Looks promising, thanks Erin!

MemberOk started to test out plugins and found one of them is not working properly in mobile devices. It's not responsive. Can any one point me to ones that are indeed responsive before I start using the codes from the tutorials? Thanks in advance.

MemberInteresting @neilgee. Can this code be used to overide WP + Genesis default Archive Page? Reason being, SP code does not work with non-Latin languages. Running a client with Chinese text and Character count for Content does not work. (yes, took this up with SP staff and they do not have a fix).

MemberHey @genwrock, one more question. How do I set child pages to deeper levels so a grandchild page will also display?
Mealtog
MemberHey @genwrock, your code is working so well, I am going to roll it out on a new website. Would you mind sharing the syntax for using the grid on a specific category? Have some photos in Posts that will work very well with your set up! TIA!
Mealtog
MemberGoing to mark this as resolved at @genwrock has a solution here: http://www.studiopress.community/topic/page-with-all-posts-but-not-home-page/
Mealtog
MemberWow, amazing! There were alignment issues since some titles were 2 lines long so I removed the grid and used a single layout of the child pages. This is briliant. One last question, how do I control how deep to show child pages?
Thanks so much!!!
Mealtog
MemberThanks for the info. I don't fully understand the coding. Which line would I replace and what is the syntax for the new line? Sorry, still a little lost.

MemberOn a Parent page, you can use shortcodes to display (in bullets) child pages for that parent page. Is there a way to create a template to display child pages in your 2 column grid. Or even a 1 column default layout, just like Post Archives. Hope that made more sense.
So in short, have your parent page (with content) then display a list of child pages below the content. Just like you what you have done for for Posts except display child pages.
