ParticipantFortiment, I just ran into this with several other themes. Earlier, some images did come. To get the effect I want for a demo/sandbox site, I'm measuring the demo images and will be adding my own. Am working with Ambiance theme and Magazine today.

ParticipantI found a plugin that lets me put the images in the navigation tabs. I'm working with the size and padding now to get the look I want. It is called Nav Menu Images
Editing. Actually the size was fine, I had my browser zoomed in so I could read the fine print. When I went back to normal, I'm happy with a 50x50 house image.

ParticipantI'm trying this on the link site. I retrieved your image and sized mine to match.
I have added the code to the edit css area and have an error sign at the last line `#nav li.home a {
background: url(images/housey2-20.png) no-repeat scroll 2px 2px transparent;
padding: 8px 20px;
text-indent: -9999px;
}`Thank you. I just saw this on another site this morning and want to do it. All of the other online directions are old.

ParticipantThank you for the reminder, scoe! That applies to all those little footer widgets -- "I knew that.!" said some earlier stand-up comedians. And I forgot. The first time I realized it made a difference was when someone else in another group was pleading for help and we 'fell into' the solution.
Additionally the same day, I saw the same answer for another theme on this forum.

ParticipantThank you, Marcy. That worked in the css stylesheet editor perfectly.
Now, if I am near the area where I can change the title font color.

ParticipantRESOLVED I forgot the axiom that something must be in the footer 1 widget first to have things display in the other footers.
Herb, the widget page has the footer spots open, but they won't work for me. I put that slider into the hook which isn't divided into three sections.I would rather be able to have the footers and use a widget slider.

ParticipantA very efficient suggestion about the updates.
I also love the possibility having the updates come to the use location as other updates do.GJudy
ParticipantI was here looking for answers to this very question. I tried to populate Footer #3 first. When I put the widget into Footer #1 they all opened and I could put the information I wanted in them. http://joyrossdavis.com

ParticipantI'm having the same problem at Mansfield Chamber of Commerce All The News page which is the posts page.
Custom sidebar plugin was worse.
With Simple Sidebars, I can get the sidebar I want at EACH blog post, but not at the page. Is this just the way the world is going to work? If that is the case, then I will quit fighting it, but I wanted that specific sidebar at the All The News Page as well as at each blog. I have selected the BLOG sidebar for the first blog post and have selected the same sidebar for the All the News (posts page)
Thanks for some clarity, regardless of what it may be.

ParticipantFLUKE! Called the host and the htaccess file was empty! I asked if I did something or if it just slipped away. Support opinion the ftp installation had a glitch that just 'happened' and couldn't necessarily be predicted. Except, maybe I will recognize it another time and not take so long to get a solution.
Thank you so much, Brad. You 'got it' right.June 23, 2013 at 1:26 pm in reply to: Reading Settings page is wrong and posts claim 404 not found #47315GJudy
ParticipantThank you, Brad, but it didn't work. When I save, I got a message "you should update you htaccess now." But, when I tried to click on the title of the post, I still get the error message.
BTW, forgot to add that I had disabled all plugins to see if that was the problem and nothing changed. I guess it is only one post, I can try a new database.GJudy
ParticipantThank you so much. That fixed it. I changed the code and removed #description.

Participantwp101 actually suggests that users share their login with clients. I've thought and thought and re-thought this.
Easy WP Guide (http://easywpguide.com/) is a light weight guide through WP that offers several formats: A rather large file for doc. and pdf (20 mgs plus) or iPad, Nook or Kindle.
They update for major changes and have older versions available. They tell us this is NOT a profound guide nor a way to work on themes.
Mostly clients want to know how to add an image, widget, page or post. Widgets can be complicated for some of them.

ParticipantThank you, Brad. I had been looking at that one. The reviews made me nervous, but I will try it on sandbox sites and find out for myself.

ParticipantI get the little message that I don't have permission, but when I refresh the page after logging in, I'm always logged in. I will bookmark the login recommended by Nick to see if that 'takes'. Otherwise, I know how to get in.

ParticipantI could get your navigation to work, Amesbury. If I linger on Services, the dropdown shows up, but sometimes it takes long enough for the Kindle to ask me about other tasks. The links in the dropdown work.
I hope this can be smoothed out soon. I want to use this theme!

ParticipantI haven't a technical answer for you, but the site is working for me in Firefox on the laptop. The header image is 'live' and takes you to the test home page.
I do have troubles with the dropdown on my Kindle Fire.
It may be the Kindle, but I'm not pleased with the mobile results on my own site using Quattro. I want the sidebar to show up and I can't get it to 'shrink' sufficiently.
Of four sites I've been looking at on the Kindle (no smart phone available) this morning, Prose is the only theme that is looking good to me.

ParticipantWe have had a great day. Our kids are all grown and scattered around the Country. This year, the family that lives in Georgia did the traveling. We met them at the home of the family in Kansas City and did our gifting on Friday. Then, they traveled to Wyoming to see more family They will be back through here on their home. At this house, there are only two peeps, many cats and a dog inside. Some horses and chickens in their own abodes.
I shopped online, but had much of it shipped to me because I have 3 new grandchildren and it was important to their heart mom/our daughter that they have something wrapped and mailed from US, not Amazon. Our dau. married a widower with three teenagers 2 yrs ago and changed the grandchildren equation from 6 to 9! I bought books and tested the statement from the post office "if it fits in the box, it goes for one price." The lady at the PO said "You really got your money's worth." I shipped everything that was a tangible. Some of them, especially the traveling ones, like cash and one family chooses a zoo membership.
The only store aisle gifts were the little things for the mail man, garbage man and other delivery peeps.
We are much blessed and looking forward to 2013.
It is cold and windy here, but no snow. I roasted marshmallows in the fireplace. The chickens were really a mass Grinch and only left one egg today! I'm going to send them a card about the joys of SOUP!

ParticipantThank you, AnitaC. I'm going to look forward to trying it out.
