GJudyParticipant
Thank you, Anita! I made the change earlier and it looked weird, so I went back to Excerpt! Just now, it all worked fine and we're in business.
GJudyParticipantResolved. Small design changes so I could change navigation sizes. Recreated the issue on test site and checked changes until I got the drop-down to work.
GJudyParticipantThe CSS for this one is there till we get colors, etc. fixed the way we want them. Then, I will move it.
The plugin was installed by another designer and removing it did make changes. Now, it looks like a typical website -- no hamburger menu, but we don't have a big menu either, so that will work. We want everything else. Thank you for your advice.
GJudyParticipantThe tagline and title changes can be made in the CSS. I don't do this often enough to be certain, but I would begin with reducing the padding on the title area which should bring your description line (tag line) up. About line 117 in the CSS according to Notepad++/
The navigation is probably going to take some php change which I am not experienced enough to get for you.
Have you thought about using a different theme such as Sixteen-Nine?
March 20, 2016 at 3:52 pm in reply to: Need Help Adding Logo To The Header of Genesis Sample Child Theme #181937GJudyParticipantFor me, the plot thickens. I just checked my site on a responsive test and the header logo/image is much too large for iPhone screen unless it is rotated. Going to try to do some rethinking on what I must see there. Now I have it so messed up I can't get the text back. Yes, I did clear the cache.
March 20, 2016 at 7:05 am in reply to: Need Help Adding Logo To The Header of Genesis Sample Child Theme #181913GJudyParticipantI've been trying to get this thing fixed this week at http://barjdcommunications.com.
I have installed the plugin Genesis Super Customizer which works fine, EXCEPT that now I am tied to that plugin because without it the header image disappears. This plugin removed the option to check logo image on the Theme Settings. I have the style css and the custom css set up for (image/logo.png) as directed in the tutorials mentioned above image is properly sized and named.I don't mind using the plugin, but I wanted more control if I can get it going.
GJudyParticipantThe sliders don't work in any browser for me. I had a Cincopa slider already working on the site I was updating with Atmosphere. It worked, but not Genesis Responsive or Soliloquy.
GJudyParticipantI'm getting ed2224 with color picker. Have you tried to clear the cache/history or try a different browser.
September 19, 2015 at 9:54 am in reply to: Genesis Sample 'mystery block' related to Archive. #166087GJudyParticipantI will! Someone can mark this as 'resolved.
September 19, 2015 at 6:24 am in reply to: Genesis Sample 'mystery block' related to Archive. #166074GJudyParticipantThank you, Tom. It worked perfectly. I changed the colors to coordinate with the rest.
September 18, 2015 at 4:36 pm in reply to: Genesis Sample 'mystery block' related to Archive. #166042GJudyParticipantThank you, Tom. This is the same CSS line where I could address the font. I could add a background color which looks more like highlighting as it is limited to area around the 'title'.
This is what I did with yellow.
.archive-title {
background-color: #ffff00;
font-family: Fugaz One;
font-size: 50px;
font-size: 5rem;
text-align: center;
}
I would have tried to add a border (just to make it do that), but WordPress said it wouldn't work. I've not run into this before where a coding 'fail' doesn't break the site. Something else that intrigues me.
i am using sample version 2.2.2
I will keep looking. It isn't SERIOUS, but I want to know what I would be changing.GJudyParticipantExciting colors and nice work!
GJudyParticipantThank you so much for the explanation of what this is, the fix and the genlte admonition about how to avoid this situation. I will be applying your advice.
GJudyParticipantThe link provided by Genwrock did it for me!
I'm using the Genesis Favicon Uploader (even though it scares me because it hasn't been recently updated according to the details)I've usually used a 16x16 favicon. The link said 32x32, so I tried that and SchZAM, it worked!
This was after I had pestered the host due to managed WP hosting and support who claimed they couldn't see the ftp stuff either. I thought about calling support back with the answer, but then....nah. Just let it go.
The plugin is a permanent crutch; you cannot deactivate it or your favicon goes down.
GJudyParticipantThank you so much for asking and answering this question! I was just wondering this week about how to work some gradients into themes.
GJudyParticipantTom, I followed the instructions at the link mentioned above. http://wpsites.net/web-design/customize-lifestyle-pro-theme-header-image-area/
I made the changes in the Theme functions and clicked 'update file'. The changes don't 'take'. The numbers do not change in the functions file, so then they don't change at the header either. I just tried again and got a typical 'error' behavior. When I clicked on 'Update File', the screen bounces to the home page, just as it will when a plugin won't update.Test domain: http://artists.barjd.com
LifeStyle Pro will permit me to increase the Title and Description font size and center it so that I could get something that works for the client without creating a full width header image. This way we can preserve the responsive aspects and give him a 'look' that he wants. (Not the test site)
To get different colors and add borders, etc., I selected one of the color options and changed the hex numbers within it using the custom css.
GJudyParticipantI've been trying Brad's instructions, but I cannot get the function numbers to 'hold' when I change them and click on update.
GJudyParticipantAl, were you able to get this worked out? Could you show us your website if you did and tell a little more about how it worked for you?
I like Soliloquy and want to do the same thing you do with the background image.
GJudyParticipantThank you, AnitaC! The lights came on in my head today and I was able to get the Agent Press Listing plugin to work in the widget bar that was giving me trouble.
I have downloaded your Pristine theme and will be working on getting familiar with it as well. I had it first -- your generosity was the inspiration for this test subdomain. I'm reluctant to use themes on new installations which are in the update queue because the changes make more hurdles to jump. I'm a card carrying couch potato -- I don't do hurdles!
Have a wonderful day and thank you again for all of your help.
