MemberApparently the world didn't end yesterday. For those of us who celebrate Christmas this means just a few more days till those festivities. I actually got my Christmas shopping done on Thanksgiving. I was able to order everything online first thing in the morning. Well, I got almost everything done. I have to brave the stores one more time to buy wrapping paper and chocolate.
My wife does a great job of buying pretty much everything we need for the kids but I am responsible for her. She is getting some nice presents but she will want those things wrapped and it isn't Christmas without chocolate (or so I'm told).
On Christmas day we are starting the morning with Egg Stuffed Baked Potatoes
While those are baking the kids (four of them) will turn our living room into papermagedon then clean up. After breakfast I'll be opening toy packaging
If I don't end up in a psych ward from that we will be doing papermegedon 2 with my parents and sister and start cooking dinner.
I say that as if I have a role in Christmas dinner. I do the turkey for Thanksgiving but on Christmas the meal is completely out of my hands, which is ok with me.
While that is going on I'll probably setup and play the new WiiU and maybe pop into the forums and help desk for a bit. My wife says I'm a workaholic but she is obviously wrong. I can quit any time, I just like it. It's more of a social thing. I don't need to work, other people need me to. Insert other excuses as needed here.
So what are your plans for the holidays? Do you have any fun family traditions?

KeymasterThat sounds nice. My mom passed in 2008 and my dad wasn't around. I really don't do anything for Christmas except maybe eat some of my mom's favorite things. It's not the same, but it makes me feel good. Since we have all this snow where I live now, me and my dog will probably just watch a lot of Christmas movies on cable and eat a lot of snacks. Not that either of us really needs snacks, but heck, it's Christmas right! I have to try the Egg Stuff Baked Potatoes though, because I love both so maybe I can fix that and end up with a new Christmas tradition. I will be on this computer though. I cannot go one day without being on the computer, so I'll probably keep an eye out over here to see if I can help with some easy fixes.

MemberMost of our traditions involve food. 🙂 We moved closer to my son and his wife, who have two small children, so it;s easier for us to go there this year.
Christmas Eve we'll have Chinese food with my famous home made won ton soup. Maybe watch a chirstmas movie.
Christmas day, the kids wake up first and open stocking. Then we'll open a few presents and go over to the grandkids (again) with piles more. 😀
My son is cooking most of Christmas dinner this year - a lovely pork loin we picked up fresh at the market this morning. He's an awesome cook!
Then I have a couple days where I go visit my mom and her husband out in the country in a log cabin overlooking a river, and another where I go visit my dad and my aunt - we're going to an English pub that day.

ModeratorChristmas will be a fairly quiet day in our house - there will be just the three of us (me, my husband, and our 12 year old son). We usually get up early to open presents, and then have cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
For dinner, I'll be cooking standing rib roast, Yorkshire pudding, scalloped potatoes, assorted vegetables. For dessert, we will have my specialty - Pavlova (if you have never had one, you don't know what you're missing out on!)
By time that's all done, it will be time for a nap.

ParticipantWe have had a great day. Our kids are all grown and scattered around the Country. This year, the family that lives in Georgia did the traveling. We met them at the home of the family in Kansas City and did our gifting on Friday. Then, they traveled to Wyoming to see more family They will be back through here on their home. At this house, there are only two peeps, many cats and a dog inside. Some horses and chickens in their own abodes.
I shopped online, but had much of it shipped to me because I have 3 new grandchildren and it was important to their heart mom/our daughter that they have something wrapped and mailed from US, not Amazon. Our dau. married a widower with three teenagers 2 yrs ago and changed the grandchildren equation from 6 to 9! I bought books and tested the statement from the post office "if it fits in the box, it goes for one price." The lady at the PO said "You really got your money's worth." I shipped everything that was a tangible. Some of them, especially the traveling ones, like cash and one family chooses a zoo membership.
The only store aisle gifts were the little things for the mail man, garbage man and other delivery peeps.
We are much blessed and looking forward to 2013.
It is cold and windy here, but no snow. I roasted marshmallows in the fireplace. The chickens were really a mass Grinch and only left one egg today! I'm going to send them a card about the joys of SOUP!

MemberI had a great day at my parents house. Spent about 12 hours over there. Had breakfast and dinner with presents. lol
My brother stopped over with his 2 kids as his wife got stuck working 2nd shift for the 2nd night in a row. She is a nurse and they don't get off on holiday's.
After these 2 days, my brother really missed his wife. We are Italian and do the 7 fish's for dinner. Had about average, 12 people in my mom's house on xmas eve and xmas day so it was a typical Italian xmas bash with lot's of wine and great food.
We did get some bad news xmas eve as my mom's Uncle Pete passed away earlier in the day. This was expected but not on xmas eve. Have a good holiday week everyone. Let's make 2013 better then 2012.
I'm so backed up on work to do tomorow at work. Not looking forward to getting back to work.
