December 11, 2014 at 7:24 pm in reply to: Vertically Aligning Images in Tables Eleven40 Theme #134339anotherusernameParticipant
I might be confused, but I think you are barking up the wrong tree...
Hmm... on second thought, yoiu could try this:
.page-id-441 img.alignnone {
margin-bottom: 12px;
}And change your margin-bottom to whatever you want
But that will ONLY work on that one page (your test page).
anotherusernameParticipantWell, I am not sure exactly what you want to do (I don't' see ANY logo at all), but one thing you COULD do is reduce the min-height here:
.header-image .site-title > a {
float: left;
width: 100%;
min-height: 100px;
}Either eliminate it or reduce it to what you want.
I would suggest for NOW to just comment it out because it will help you in case you change your mind later.
/* min-height: 100px; */
Hope this helps.
anotherusernameParticipantI checked, help.php file is not contained in original theme package.
Thank you for that confirmation, Davinder.
So the likely problem is:
1) They added a file with a backdoor in it
2) Their ftp / control panel login and password were compromised
3) They have a bad plugin with security flaw
4) they were using an outdated version of wordpress with a security flaw
5) Or their host has traced the problem to the wrong cause.
My guess is either 1, 2, or 3, but most likely 1.
anotherusernameParticipantYou can still do them left and right if you want to.
Put the text in one div, and then the button in another.
Then float the text div left, and the button div float: right.
But it's up to you.
anotherusernameParticipantYou will probably get a better answer by going to the forums / support specifically for the winning agent theme:
http://www.winningagent.com/forums/forum/winning-agent-pro-theme/
https://my.winningagent.com/support/
As for a more detailed breakdown, I think part of that would depend on the MLS / IDX features.
anotherusernameParticipantFirstly, make sure you are editing your CHILD function (just double check).
You want to remove the link so look for an a tag.
namely, look for something like:
<a href="%s">%s</a>
And just change it to:
%s
In essence, you are removing the
<a href="%s">
and the</a>
part of it.Try and see what happens.
Hope this helps.
anotherusernameParticipantWhere exactly would you prefer for that button to be?
Right now, you have it inside your h1 tag for Read this week's issue of Doug's Seven Mile Island News! so where you can position it is kind of limited (it will depend on the positioning of that h1 tag).
So first I would take it out of the h1 tag.
If you want the text to the left and the button to the right, aligned in the vertical middle, I would take the button out of the the text widget div and I would put in another div by itself, float right and figure out a way to have it vertically aligned in the middle (I need to have more coffee before I can remember how to do that).
But personally, I would have the text full width in the div and have the CTA button BELOW the text Read this week's issue of Doug's Seven Mile Island News!.
Actually, in reality, if it were me, a CTA is far to important to "waste" on having them read something... I would ask the visitor to DO something instead, like sign up for the newsletter, or to contact the site owner right now.
Just my two centavos...
anotherusernameParticipantWhich version of wordpress are you using? Were you up-to-date?
Also, is the help.php file native to the executive pro child theme? Or is it a php file that you created yourself or got off the web somewhere? Or maybe your ftp login / password was hacked and someone planted it there?
(I don't have executive pro but I don't remember seeing a help.php file before... I apologize in advance if it IS part of executive pro and I just am ignorant of it.)
anotherusernameParticipantOne other thing...
That main image on the home page, while beautiful, takes an awful long time to download...
I mean, it is over 3 megs!!! Maybe you can slim it down somehow???
anotherusernameParticipantIt looks like you will want to do a google search for something like:
wordpress Warning: : Cannot modify header information – headers already sent
And look at the possible solutions.
You should have a good text editor (like notepad++) ready because you MIGHT have to edit your index.php file (not normally a good idea).
anotherusernameParticipantI don't know exactly off the top of my head, but...
What I would do is find the code for the featured posts widget, duplicate it with a new name (append something like 'no-link' to it), remove the a tags, and then use it instead of the featured posts widget.
Might be easier said than done...
anotherusernameParticipantHmmm...
Basically, what you NEED would be only 5 templates... assuming that they were competent enough to use the right template for each category.
Is there a conditional for choosing the template based on what the category id / slug is?
In the meantime, you could create the five templates with a sample name, and then copy / paste / rename them so you would have the total of 21 categories with the category-specific names.
You could use that until you figured out the conditional for using the template based on category id.
Hope this helps.
anotherusernameParticipantHi Tony:
Just a heads up: It looks like you marked this topic as resolved, which means that most people are going to think that yoiu already have a solution for this problem.
If you are still seeking a solution, then you should make sure this thread is NOT marked as resolved.
Unless you DID find a solution already, in which case you should post your solution here.
anotherusernameParticipantWell, the easy answer is that your image on the cathygoodwin.com site is much bigger than the image on your midlifecareerstategy.com site, and the DIV has a bigger max-width, too.
Hence, that is pushing the menu down.
Working with a tech person on Executive Pro...
Umm... what kind of "tech person" are you working with???
If you have a front-end problem, you should be working with someone who knows front end development (html and CSS).
I am not trying to be rude, but that would be a pretty obvious issue to someone familiar with CSS (unless I am missing your whole point... I have been known to be wrong before).
anotherusernameParticipantWell, I found a workaround...
Go to your .site-footer, which currently looks like this:
.site-footer { background-color: #643C90; letter-spacing: 1px; padding: 30px 10px; text-align: center; }
And add margin-top: -10px; to it, so that the whole things looks like this:
.site-footer { margin-top: -10px; background-color: #643C90; letter-spacing: 1px; padding: 30px 10px; }
You will probably want to fiddle around with the exact distance and look at the effect on different browsers.
Note that this works at DESKTOP widths.
Once you start getting into your media query widths, your .site-inner starts pushing things down.
I wouldn't be too surprised if the .site-inner is causing your problems in the first place. You may have to modify that div at various media query sizes.
No guarantee that this solution will work on ALL browsers at all widths, but at least it is a start.
Hope this helps.
December 10, 2014 at 1:27 am in reply to: How to create a template for a custom post type in a Genesis child theme #134134anotherusernameParticipantJason:
Thanks for the tip about the Pippin’s Easy Content Type plugin. Looks pretty good. Seems like it is a pretty cost effective plugin since you basically get the same features as the Advanced Custom Fields pro plugin (plus the custom post types and custom post taxonomies).
anotherusernameParticipantI have to say this: as a visitor to a site, I would HATE to see posts in random order.
There has to be some logical way to organize your archives that will be more helpful to your visitors, isn't there?
anotherusernameParticipant#1 has me stumped, too... Looked at it for about 10 minutes and didn't figure it out.
If it were me, I would look through your style sheet and I would comment out any of the instances where you see:
content: " ";
so I would change them to:
/* content: " "; */
And see if that fixes anything.
If that doesn't work, I am not sure what else to do.
December 8, 2014 at 7:27 pm in reply to: Minimum Pro: reduce content width on pages, but not on home page and mobile #134037anotherusernameParticipantIn the home page and blog pages, which use two columns, the text got too narrow.
The same happened in small screens…Do you mean the text for the CONTENT area got too small? Or do you mean the text for the SIDEBAR area got too small?
anotherusernameParticipantFor #2, off the top of my head, I think that you want to revert your .site-inner back to the way it was, and then create a new set of rules for
.home .site-inner {
margin:0;
}Try that and see how ti goes.
It's monday afternoon so I can't think now.
