Hi Christoph,
Thanks so much for providing information on how to center the featured images!

anewcreationParticipantHi Everyone,
I wanted to send a follow-up note to see if there is anyone out there that may have experience with the question I posted regarding centering 2 featured images on the home page (please see the images I posted with the question).
Thanks so much!

anewcreationParticipantHi Brad,
Thanks for your post.
I'd like to copy the Sample site (the Diane Martin) site to someone's server and then just change and customize it to their images and colors. http://demo3.inlpcenter.org/
I first tried a (copy plugin) that created an XML file that I uploaded. It didn't copy the styles or layout, just pages and posts and a few other things. The site looked the same, like how the executive pro them looks when you first upload it.. But when I did the WP Migrate DB, it copied everything, which was what I was looking for. But, I just don't know enough about what's going on in the backend to know if this is ok to do it this way. I don't know if it's placing tons of references to the old site in files on the server. If I was just migrating to one of my own personal sites it wouldn't matter, but I want to be careful since it's for other people.
My goal is to be able to make a site based on the sample layout without spending way too many hours, so I thought starting with the site I already designed, and just customizing some things, would save a lot of time instead of starting from scratch each time.
Thanks for reading my post : )

anewcreationParticipantChristoph!
I'm so happy, it's working now. Thank you for not giving up! I really appreaciate the time you spent to figure this problem out!
So you were correct about two problems:
-The code needed to be moved away from the bottom of the style.css sheet
-The code need the (.)Here is how I realized it was both issues that you mentioned:
1. Before I got your post, I tried moving the code I originally had to the widget area instead of at the bottom, like you mentioned. But nothing changed. But when I received your post, I added the (.) while it was in still in the widget area, and the background finally turned black!
2. For a test, I moved the correct code that contains the (.) back to the bottom of the style.css sheet, and it didn't work.
Thanks for figuring out those two issues!
And thanks to everyone who joined in to try and help!
I learned a lesson today, never place anything at the bottom of the style sheet!

anewcreationParticipantHi Jiknauff,
When you say he hit the nail on the head, are you referring to (don't but anything at the bottom of style.css file) or were your referring how he said (the code is inside of @media only screen)
The code that is above the MailPoet code in my screenshot, that's inside the the @media, was there when I first opened the style sheet, and I was able to change the MailPoet form the other day, but not today, so I'm not sure if that is what's causing the problem. The strange this is that there is code like that, (max-width) references inside the @media, all throughout my style sheet. Everything else works fine though when changes are made, just the MailPoet form is having problems.
I hope everyone is not getting tired of my posts trying to figure this out. I really appreciate all of you and the help you have sent my way.
anewcreationParticipantHi Susan,
Thanks so much for the information on private posting!
I started out using the Genesis eNews Extended plugin with MailPoet, it looked great, but I couldn't get it to work in regards to collecting emails and sending notifications to the site owner. I was unsure of, and couldn't find information as to what exactly I needed to place in the Form Action field in the widget area, ( I wasn't sure where to get this bit of info from within MailPoet, and also the fields below it. I looked at the plugin homepage and other tutorials, but couldn't find the exact info I needed. I'm pretty good with troubleshooting, but I was at a lose with the form configuration.
A few people mentioned that I should be using the MailPoet Form generator since I was using MailPoet. I tried it and the backend details; collecting emails, confirmation email, and so on, worked perfectly. But...the owner liked the look of the eNews subscriber box, so I've been trying to get the background black and the text white on the new MailPoet form. I've spent hours and hours, with no progress.
The strange thing is, when I first tried a test on the MailPoet form the other day, I copied and pasted code from the internet, and the submit button turned a different color. But now, if I past that same exact code in, nothing changes. I can't make any changes to the look of the form, even with correct code placed in the style.css sheet, and I'm not sure why. Other elements in the same style.css show a change when I make them, like if I change the color of the website menu buttons, but nothing changes with the MailPoet form when I add code (as seen in the one screenshot I posted with the purple boxes. It seems something is wrong, since I was able to alter it the other day, but I'm not sure what.
Thanks again for your post!

Thanks for the info. I see what you are talking about now. Funny things is I didn't write the code that mentions the max-width of 270, it was already there when I opened the stye sheet. It didn't have anything to do with the MailPoet form so I didn't pay attention to it. I only added the part in the purple box. Thanks for pointing that out , your right, it doesn't look correct.
I also tried deleting the mailpoet plugin and reinstalling it, and that didn't work either.
Thanks for the information and tips.
Jeanne
anewcreationParticipantHi Christoph,
Just making sure, your talking about the screenshot above that has the purple boxes around the code, right? I'm not sure what "not writing it inside of a media query" means. Can you explain this so I can change it. Thanks so much for your help!!!

anewcreationParticipantHi jlknauff, Thanks so much for offering to look around on my site to see if you can figure out the problem. Unfortunately, the owner of the site didn't want me to do that.
I did a few tests. I edited something else in that same style.css file, the main website nav background color, and it changed. I wanted to make sure it wasn't the css file itself. So that eliminated that.
Yesterday, I was grabbing code from the internet and trying it on the mailpoet form, and one bit of code changed the submit button color. I deleted it since I didn't want that color, just testing. Today I tried that same code, and it didn't change anything. I wonder why it would change yesterday and not change today.
Thanks again for your time.
Jeanne
anewcreationParticipantHi, It does seem like something strange like that is going on. It's odd that nothing is changing the design of the form. Here is screenshot so you can see the file I'm editing and the code that was placed. I really appreciate the fact that you are taking time out to look at my posts, thank you.
anewcreationParticipantHI,
Whoops...embarrassing typo in last post, I meant to write "no change"! I tried clearing the cache and also restarted my computer, but there was still no change. Are you seeing a change on your computer? Here is a screenshot of what I'm viewing.
anewcreationParticipantHi jlknauff, Thanks for looking into things. I copy and pasted the additional code you sent, there was still know change though. I appreciate that you tried. Jeanne
anewcreationParticipantHi Victor, Thank you so much for your post. I copy and pasted your code and placed it at the bottom of my style.css file, but for some reason, there was no change at all in the subscriber box. Jeanne
anewcreationParticipantI found that it didn't allow me to copy and paste the new email address in, I had to manually type it in, then it worked.
anewcreationParticipantHi Victor. Just a note to say thank you. I took your advice and made the subscribe form in MailPoet and it was very easy to set-up. Jeanne
anewcreationParticipantHi Christoph,
Thanks for the link and screenshot. I saw that website also, but was still unable to make it work. I told the client last night that I wanted to use MailChimp (there are tons of tutorials for using MailChimp with enews extended) But he said he wants to use MailPoet not MailChimp. So back to the drawing board. I need to set it up so when the subscriber box is filled out, the client gets a notification email, and the subscriber email address also gets added to the mailing list. I'm just not sure how to fill out mailpoet and enews so that it works properly. I'll keep researching. Maybe I will try using MailPoet to create a subscriber box like Victor mentioned.
Thanks again,
Jeanne : )
anewcreationParticipantHi Victor!
Thank you so much for your post. I appreciate that you took time out of your day to answer my question. I was setting it up this way because I thought e-news extended can be used with MailPoet. I thought the sign-up box that is created with e-news extended can be used to gather email addresses and places them in your mailing list that is within mailpoet. And that you can also use MailPoet to create actual newsletters that are sent to your subscriber list. Within the e-news extended, it has a mailpoet option. I've included an image so you can see what I'm talking about.
Back to what you were saying…It sounds like you were saying I can use mailpoet to create a subscriber box. instead of using the e-news extended subscriber box. I will look into doing that.
Thank you for taking the time to post.
Jeanne
anewcreationParticipantThanks for being so helpful. Everything is working fine now : )
anewcreationParticipantThanks so much for taking the time to post your screenshot, Carasmo. I will change the color of the arrow! Thanks for letting me know. Any ideas of why it looks different on my phone, the mobile responsive bars are gone and so is the banner. I have an iPhone 6. Thanks again, Jeanne : )
