@anewcreation: Your last reply to @Christoph is a private message; he won't be able to see that; the only people who can see the private messages are the original poster (you), and an admin or moderator (me).

On another note - I second Brad's recommendation to use the Genesis eNews Extended plugin with MailPoet instead 🙂

    Hi Susan,

Thanks so much for the information on private posting!

I started out using the Genesis eNews Extended plugin with MailPoet, it looked great, but I couldn't get it to work in regards to collecting emails and sending notifications to the site owner. I was unsure of, and couldn't find information as to what exactly I needed to place in the Form Action field in the widget area, ( I wasn't sure where to get this bit of info from within MailPoet, and also the fields below it. I looked at the plugin homepage and other tutorials, but couldn't find the exact info I needed. I'm pretty good with troubleshooting, but I was at a lose with the form configuration.

A few people mentioned that I should be using the MailPoet Form generator since I was using MailPoet. I tried it and the backend details; collecting emails, confirmation email, and so on, worked perfectly. But...the owner liked the look of the eNews subscriber box, so I've been trying to get the background black and the text white on the new MailPoet form. I've spent hours and hours, with no progress.

The strange thing is, when I first tried a test on the MailPoet form the other day, I copied and pasted code from the internet, and the submit button turned a different color. But now, if I past that same exact code in, nothing changes. I can't make any changes to the look of the form, even with correct code placed in the style.css sheet, and I'm not sure why. Other elements in the same style.css show a change when I make them, like if I change the color of the website menu buttons, but nothing changes with the MailPoet form when I add code (as seen in the one screenshot I posted with the purple boxes. It seems something is wrong, since I was able to alter it the other day, but I'm not sure what.

    Thanks again for your post!

    Hi Jiknauff,

When you say he hit the nail on the head, are you referring to (don't but anything at the bottom of style.css file) or were your referring how he said (the code is inside of @media only screen)

The code that is above the MailPoet code in my screenshot, that's inside the the @media, was there when I first opened the style sheet, and I was able to change the MailPoet form the other day, but not today, so I'm not sure if that is what's causing the problem. The strange this is that there is code like that, (max-width) references inside the @media, all throughout my style sheet. Everything else works fine though when changes are made, just the MailPoet form is having problems.

I hope everyone is not getting tired of my posts trying to figure this out. I really appreciate all of you and the help you have sent my way.

    Christoph!

I'm so happy, it's working now. Thank you for not giving up! I really appreaciate the time you spent to figure this problem out!

So you were correct about two problems:
-The code needed to be moved away from the bottom of the style.css sheet
    -The code need the (.)

Here is how I realized it was both issues that you mentioned:

    1. Before I got your post, I tried moving the code I originally had to the widget area instead of at the bottom, like you mentioned. But nothing changed. But when I received your post, I added the (.) while it was in still in the widget area, and the background finally turned black!

    2. For a test, I moved the correct code that contains the (.) back to the bottom of the style.css sheet, and it didn't work.

Thanks for figuring out those two issues!

And thanks to everyone who joined in to try and help!

I learned a lesson today, never place anything at the bottom of the style sheet!
