Hi, the color is generated by this:
.content-sidebar #sidebar .widget, .sidebar-content #sidebar .widget, #footer, #header {
background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #222222;
}
on line 1547 of your style sheet. Simply change that #222222 to your pink color or transparent.

December 22, 2012 at 4:51 pm #7050benconnorMemberHa ha ha,
I had responsive design bwboykin, but being far less tech savvy than someone like yourself, I didn't find it easy to customise at all. Also want the mobile version to pretty much replicate the desktop, so getting rid of responsive design worked a treat.
Ozzy!!! Once again, thank you man. Problem solved 🙂
Cheers,
Ben
December 22, 2012 at 10:21 am #6952OzzyMemberif you're not worried about responsive and just want to fix that issue, you could try going into your style.css, searching for #title-area and putting
white-space: nowrap;
into the styling of #title-area
I don't know if that will fix your problem, but i hope it helps!
December 22, 2012 at 10:10 am #6949bwboykinMemberHey Ben,
Looks like the theme you are using 'News' is not responsive so minus the media query stylings you get already set up in the last 19-20+ themes StudioPress has offered up you'll more than likely have to add that into your CSS in order to achieve the desired outcome. With their responsive themes you can pretty easily drill down and customize elements in each's stylesheet like you have reference in order to show like you want on phones and tablets in both portrait and landscape mode.
December 21, 2012 at 10:24 pm #6881etocalinoMemberThanks Ozzy! I actually ended up changing the menu altogether. It was originally a custom menu placed in the header right widget but I just went back to the regular menu. I really appreciate your taking the time to look at it.

mariafernandezMemberI've now uploaded the Genesis Responsive Slider plugin. I have the Balance theme, which gives me the widgets: 'Home Featured Left' and 'Home Featured Right'. What I need is a 960px widget.
How can I get it?

mariafernandezMemberI've found a site that has exactly the kind of slider I was thinking of: http://empoweris.com/
Can the Genesis Responsive Slider achieve something in those lines?
Answer: yes, this site is using that plugin
December 21, 2012 at 10:43 am #6670In reply to: Slideshow below header – Balance theme
Robert NeuMemberThey are very similar in functionality but the Bootstrap one was made by a 3rd party developer. The main thing that I like about it is that it's more lightweight and you can choose to disable the stylesheet and javascript from being added. I'm using it on my site and I have found a few things that need fixed on it. If you're looking for the most reliable plugin go with the Genesis Responsive Slider.
If you need some help with this and have Skype I'd be happy to give you a hand.

mariafernandezMemberFAT Media's right. I should only have the slider in the home page.
Does anyone have a preference: Genesis Responsive Slider vs. Genesis Bootstrap Carousel
December 21, 2012 at 10:18 am #6656In reply to: Slideshow below header – Balance theme
Robert NeuMemberI misread the initial post. Following Brian's guide should accomplish what you're trying to do.
Since the site is responsive you'll want to use the slider that I linked to or this one: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/genesis-bootstrap-carousel/
December 21, 2012 at 10:04 am #6648In reply to: Slideshow below header – Balance theme
Robert NeuMemberFirst, turn off the breadcrumbs for the home page. It looks like you're using the Balance theme so you'll need to modify the code a bit for a slideshow to display correctly.
To get started, you'll need to install this plugin http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/genesis-responsive-slider/
Once you've done that, you're going to need to edit your home.php file and your style.css file a bit.

benconnorMemberHi Susan,
I have made the site non-responsive by doing as you advised and it is exactly what I wanted.
Thank you so much!!! 🙂
The only thing I have now is that the header description text on smart phones shifts to create two lines when I zoom in close - doesn't do this on desktops cause i put in a #MainWrapper (for some reason smart phones don't recognise this). Is there anyway of stopping it from doing this?
Also, the 'Papyrus' font I have chosen for the header title does't seem to work on smart phones. Is that cause smartphones don't support that font or something. Any ideas?
Thanks once again for your great help!!!
Ben

in forum Design Tips and TricksravenousravendesignMemberHere is my site. I'm using the Agency Theme.
http://184.154.126.130/~american/
I addedan image for the header but my only problem is that the header does not respond with the entire site. What would be the best CSS direction to add to my image so my header is scaleable along with the rest of the site?
The image i'm talking about is the eagle with the phone number on the right.
December 19, 2012 at 3:58 am #6126In reply to: Some feedback on a design
kosmiqMemberThanks for the feedback! I have ditched the electric blue in favor of the one from the header plus I have increased the overall width of the page with 40px and it does look a little better.
Some other changes have been incorporated as well regarding posts with multiple categories. The site is also responsive so if you can give feedback on that layout as well I'd be grateful! 🙂

justin324Memberfigured it out. had to add width:100% to the header in the responsive section. and add padding.
Looking forward to em's and rem"s in the upcoming genisis update. more responsive = better!

December 18, 2012 at 12:21 am #5878In reply to: Stretch Theme Feedback
Bill MurrayMember@Steve - Stretch is a very basic blog theme. For the added flexibility you asked about...
1) I posted the code to add custom header support in your other thread, http://www.studiopress.community/topic/stretch-theme-headerlogo-question/. You said you tried that and it didn't work for you, but it's pretty easy to do and works just fine, as you can see on our demo site: http://stretch.wpperform.com/. One of the mobile responsive layouts needs a bit more work, but supporting custom headers is fairly easy.
2) It would be nice to be able to control which category displayed, but I think more customization (such as displaying more posts) would make the end result not very Stretch-like.
3) StudioPress tends not to offer that kind of ability as a theme option, leaving it to the developer to change it. I suspect the thinking is that options add overhead, and if you don't like the Stretch approach, maybe another theme is a better fit. All Stretch does is reposition the navigation using CSS and change what is displayed with a filter.
