Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorDon't be afraid to make changes. Just don't make changes with the WordPress editor. The best approach is to use FTP and make changes in an editor on your machine. PHP is intolerant to errors. If you make a mistake and you're editing through FTP, it's very easy to back the error producing code out and recover your site.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorYou don't need to use genesis_setup function. Just placing the code in functions.php will work. Also, you never mentioned genesis_setup in your original post. We can't help you if you withhold details.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?July 9, 2017 at 3:38 am in reply to: Setup menu incl. dummy pages and CPT Archives – Breadcrumbs #208871Victor FontModeratorThe menu setup is easy. When you add the About page to the menu, just change the text to say Company.
The bread crumb setup isn't as easy and requires custom code. The custom code will also require some maintenance when add or remove items from the Company menu. This code will append a dummy Company item, linked to an about page, right after the Home breadcrumb
add_filter( 'genesis_home_crumb', 'add_company_to_breadcrumbs' ); function add_company_to_breadcrumbs( $crumb ) { $pages = array(1, 2, 3, 4, 5,); if ( is_page( $pages ) ) { $crumb .= ' / <span class="breadcrumb-link-wrap" itemprop="itemListElement" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/ListItem"><a href="http://localhost/public_html/about/" itemprop="item"><span itemprop="name">Company</span></a></span>'; } return $crumb; }
There are two things that require maintenance from you. First is the pages array. You have to change the 1,2,3,4,5, to the page ids for the pages you add to the company menu. If you don't know how to find the page id, install the reveal ids plugin. Second, change the link href to point to your about page.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorYou don't mention 960 with background-size: contain. Your final code looks like this:
.header-image #header #title-area { background: url(images/logo.png) left top no-repeat; background-size: contain; }

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorThe background color is controlled by this CSS at line 1030 in style.css
.nav-primary { background-color: #212121; color: #c9c9c9; }
This is something you can easily determine for yourself if you use your browser's inspect tool. https://victorfont.com/how-to-use-your-browsers-inspect-tool/
Learning the to use the tools you have at your disposal will save you a lot of time in the future.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorThat's the right code to use to unregister layouts. I just tested what you posted above and it works fine with the Genesis Sample theme. Here are few things to check:
- Make sure you are placing the code in the child theme's functions.php.
- Check that there's no other code in functions.php that could be enabling the layouts again after your code.
- Clear all caches, (i.e. server, browser, plugin, etc.)

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorYou made the image too wide, that's all. First, please take the time to read this article. It will provide an understaning of what's going on. https://victorfont.com/understanding-genesis-framework-site-header-layout/
Next, add background-size: contain; to .header-image #header #title-area at line 202 in style.css.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorSomething with your browser. The site is working fine. You have a local caching issue that's causing the browser to hold onto old code.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?July 8, 2017 at 8:27 am in reply to: ERROR – asks to install latest version of Genesis – Do I need to buy it????? #208849Victor FontModeratorGenesis should have been updated first. There have been many changes to WordPress since the version of Genesis was released. These WordPress changes created some incompatibilities with earlier versions of Genesis. You never mentioned which versions you were on before you updated to WordPress 4.8. You may have to revert back to the earlier WordPress, update Genesis, then reinstall WordPress.
If you have access to https://my.studiopress.com, you can download the latest version and update though FTP.
Even if you buy the framework at this point, you still need to update through FTP. You've gone to far for automatic updates without rolling back WordPress.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorIf you use your browser's inspect too to view your source code, you can see that you're outputting the button way to early before the page headers are sent. In fact, you're sending the page headers after the body class. This is what your template is generating:
<html> <a href='Error! Secret' class='button'> Download </a> </html> <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en-GB" prefix="og: http://ogp.me/ns#"> <head>
Whatever you're doing with your custom PHP, it is not hooking into Genesis correctly. At this point, I can't even help you from looking at the front end. This is going to require deeper troubleshooting and you may be better off hiring a developer to construct the template for you.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?July 7, 2017 at 2:17 pm in reply to: ERROR – asks to install latest version of Genesis – Do I need to buy it????? #208830Victor FontModeratorThe message indicates that your WordPress may be outdated as well. For Genesis, go the the Genesis / Theme Settings menu and make sure "Check For Updates" is checked. The normal WordPress update process should take care of it.

Have you requested your free website audit yet?Victor FontModeratorThe best way to learn is to use your browser's inspect tool. https://victorfont.com/how-to-use-your-browsers-inspect-tool/
Right click on the element you want to change and activate the inspect tool. You can see the CSS that affects the element. Once you know what class to change, edit style.css to customize your color.
