Thanks for the suggestion. I tried something similar to this and it worked. Unfortunately it overrides the post excerpt in instances where a custom excerpt was added to the Excerpt field in individual posts, but I believe I can worry about that later. For now, I have a solution that removes the unwanted text.

I figured it out!

I'm using the WPBakery Page Builder and it wouldn't update properly. Deactivating/deleting and then re-uploading fixed the issue.

I'd been planning on redesigning the pages I built with it so I'm not locked in to a plugin for customization. Now I think that I'll make that a priority. I don't appreciate plugins breaking my site, especially when I've sent so many leads to it in the last week or so while the homepage was apparently broken for mobile visitors.

Lesson learned.

A co-worker has confirmed that she can see the problem on her iPhone 6, as well.
