MemberHi Erik,
Thank you so much. That does work.
Although I have more control, it is still a bit cumbersome to add the quicktag (I fear I will often forget to add it to posts), so I was wondering if there's a way to preset the number of characters that are displayed before the cutoff point.
Now that I see that the text loses all its formatting, the resulting blocks of text are actually unattractive without any formatting. So I realize that having the "empty areas" of my original post is not that bad. However, I feel like the Read More button is essential to encourage further reading.
Is there a way to "Display post excerpts" and include the Read More button?
Or is there a way to "Display post content" but preset the cutoff point (so the quick tag automatically goes there after a set number of characters)?
Adding the Read More button is the most important functionally. Now, I'm just thinking cosmetics and practicality, as I do want to reduce the amount of text per post without having to add the quicktag to all the posts.
Thank you again, Erik! I really appreciate your wisdom here.

That was spot-on. Quick and painless. Thank you so much!

MemberHi braddalton, yes, I would think so. But instead of a "random" one, I was hoping the community here would have a favorite guide. But yeah, I've already found some. Thanks.

MemberHi braddalton,
Would you happen to know any guides or walkthroughs for this? Something you could recommend and that works well with Genesis/Metro Theme?
I'm not code literate, so everything you mentioned opens a chest full of questions, haha. I do appreciate your thoughts and suggestions. Keywords like "conditional tags" will help me in my search, for sure.

MemberHi Tom,
Thank you so much for your feedback and suggestions. You were right: there was an extra </div> tag lost in there. I got it fixed now.
I really appreciate your help.

MemberIs this issue not as easy as I thought?
Even the Metro Demo site shows the navigation bars/menus on the tags page. That's all I was hoping for: the bare basics. As advertised. Anyone?

MemberThank you very much, Tom. I am definitely in better shape now than when I started. You have given me many choices, and I expect I will find something that I can work with.
Would you happen to know what line of code I should remove/edit to eliminate the bright red box around the banner? (I temporarily removed the banner because it wasn't ready yet, but odds are I will use some version of it, so removing the bright red box will be an obstacle in the future.)
I get your point about the logo size, and you are absolutely right. Sometimes less is more. I will reconsider my choices and see what works best.
Thank you so much!

MemberThank you, Tom. You are right, the words in the post title were too long. I contacted StudioPress (because it's their widget) and they did suggest an edit to the stylesheet that mitigated the problem by decreasing the margin size around the image. However, some real estate is still lost, and it just looks weird. I suggested to them that instead of aligning the post title with the image, the title should come first, then the image:
I think this makes sense, but it can only be accomplished on their end. What do you think?
Thank you!

MemberHi Tom,
Thank you so much for your assistance. And a special thanks for the thorough post on your blog. No doubt this will make tons of lives easier.
Though Sridhar's method 2 and your method 6 were super clear and easy to follow, it does eliminate the Header function from the Appearances menu. I was really looking forward to uploading multiple header images and utilizing the randomization/rotation feature to switch among the different designs I was going to upload. A small thing that I really wanted to do.
The other issue (perhaps more important for now) is that there's a red box/border around the header image:
Is that what you call "HTML around the logo"? Or could it be residue from my many failed attempts at editing the functions and stylesheet files? I don't think so as I was very careful but maybe.
Sadly, I am not doing this full time, which means I can only work on this website for a couple of hours every night. I will come back here tomorrow to maybe try your Method 5 and sacrifice the image responsiveness. I really wanna keep the Header function because it facilitates a few things on my end.
I will keep looking for the ideal solution (keeping the Header function intact, preserving logo image responsiveness, and still extending the header size). I love a good challenge, and this one seems like it will be worth it. Why does StudioPress only allow such a small logo (270 ?— 80 pixels) out of the box? I would like to understand why. In any way, beggars can't be choosers. I'm not a coder, and I understand my place in the universe.
Many thanks for people like you who extend a helping hand.

MemberHi Tom,
Thank you so much for holding my hard through this,
Here is my website: http://www.elementsofcinema.com/
I have reverted to the site name because the header image was cropped as per my previous post. But my intention is to replace the current name for the banner image I am working on. How can I "make the full image visible" as you said?
Again, thank you so much. I really appreciate your expertise,

MemberHi Tom,
I changed the code as per your instruction.
This is what looks like on the backend:
However, on the frontend, it appears as cropped:
In addition to the fuctions.php
I also edited the css:
}
.header-image .site-title a {
background-color: none;
max-width: 1080px;
min-height: 120px;
padding: 0;
}Basically, all I am trying to is have a full-width header of 1080px by 120px. Can you please let me know what I am doing wrong? It seems like it should be a simple mission but it has been a huge struggle.
Thank you in advance.

MemberHi Susan,
I too would like an answer for the question above. It seems that quite some people struggle with this issue, and though some writers have blogged about a workaround, I would like to know what you recommend.
In a nutshell: the Metro theme will natively allow a 270 ?— 80 pixels header, but that is too small for a logo + website name + tagline. Ideally, I would like to add a 300 x 500 pixels header (maybe smaller, maybe bigger). Please let us know your suggestions and some potential drawbacks of changing the native header size.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
Best,
