    Hello, I have a header image that is wider than what the Metro theme allows. I don't want to shrink the image any more or it will look too small to read.

    Does anyone know how to increase the width?

    Thanks

    Phoenix

    Hi Susan,

    I too would like an answer for the question above. It seems that quite some people struggle with this issue, and though some writers have blogged about a workaround, I would like to know what you recommend.

    In a nutshell: the Metro theme will natively allow a 270 ?— 80 pixels header, but that is too small for a logo + website name + tagline. Ideally, I would like to add a 300 x 500 pixels header (maybe smaller, maybe bigger). Please let us know your suggestions and some potential drawbacks of changing the native header size.

    Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

    Best,
    Gabriel

    I'm in the same boat as Gabriel, I'd love to be able to extend the header. Thanks in advance!

    Hi I've found this hack to sort this problem. wpsites

    Open up functions.php in the editor

    Find this function

    //* Add support for custom header
    add_theme_support( 'custom-header', array(
    'width' => 270,
    'height' => 80,
    'header-selector' => '.site-title a',
    'header-text' => false
    ) );

    Change the width and height.

    The link shows other options, such as having a full width header.
