@aaron, good news! I know how you can do that. Open up your styles.css and search for #responsive-menu-icon. That code should look similar to the following.
#responsive-menu-icon::before { -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; color: #000; content: "\e00e"; font-family: 'Icon'; font-size: 1.6rem; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 1; margin: 0 auto; speak: none; text-align: center; text-transform: none; }
content: "\e00e";
is the code for the menu icon. Change it tocontent: "\e00e MENU";
and specify your preferred font for "MENU" after the Icon font family, like this:font-family: 'Icon', Georgia, sans-serif;
Final code should look like the following:
#responsive-menu-icon::before { -webkit-font-smoothing: antialiased; color: #000; content: "\e00e MENU"; font-family: 'Icon', Georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 1.6rem; font-size: 16px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: 1; margin: 0 auto; speak: none; text-align: center; text-transform: none; }
February 6, 2014 at 10:40 pm in reply to: Test site issue: saving post/page redirects to live site's home page #89077cookieandkateMemberWell, the issues are occurring on a local test site, so I don't have a public URL for that. My website is http://cookieandkate.com
cookieandkateMemberHi there,
No, sorry, I haven't gotten around to working on this yet. I intend to look up standard/recommended widths for responsive designs and use those as a starting point.
cookieandkateMemberThanks for your help! I found the following tutorial and it worked great: http://sridharkatakam.com/adding-search-form-input-button-icon-inside-input-box-genesis/
January 10, 2014 at 3:07 pm in reply to: Magazine Pro issue: icon font imported in styles.css #84501cookieandkateMemberThat's awesome. I asked Genesis support about the issue. They explained that @font-face is fine to use in styles.css to call fonts stored locally. I think I got confused because the section for @font-face in styles.css is labelled "import fonts" or something like that, which led me to believe that they were using the @import option.
cookieandkateMemberI'm sorry, I'm building a local test site. The mobile responsive features come from Magazine Pro. If there's any chance you could find the answer through the Magazine Pro demo, I'd be so grateful! Thank you for your help.
cookieandkateMemberI emailed Studiopress support about the issue. They told me to turn off "Enable Trackbacks" on the Genesis Theme settings page. They told me that I would still receive notifications in the dashboard, but the trackbacks won't appear on the page, which is exactly what I want to achieve. I turned off "Enable Trackbacks" and the trackbacks are gone from my posts/pages.
I am building a local test site now, though, so I have yet to see if I will receive notifications in the dashboard... I hope so!
January 10, 2014 at 2:58 pm in reply to: Category and tag archives display thumbnail and title only #84492cookieandkateMemberNo, I don't think display:none ever actually removes html from the source code. It just prevents the element from appearing on the front end. Using display:none is a good way to get in trouble with google.
I'd love to find a solution to this issue. I've tried using Bill Erickson's grid plugin, but couldn't make it do what I wanted it to do. I have also heard that I could create portfolio archives pages that can display thumbnails and post titles in a grid, which would be terrific, but I can't figure out how to make that happen, either!
cookieandkateMemberOk, I'll look up standard mobile query standard widths and tinker with the code.
cookieandkateMemberThanks so much for your help. I tried editing the code as suggested. It accomplished my goal of displaying the primary nav in full, but the secondary nav still displays in full rather than shrinking and showing the responsive menu icon. Any other ideas?
cookieandkateMemberWell, I don't want to turn off trackbacks because they help me discover cases of stolen content. Surely there is a way to just remove them from the posts/pages instead? I'm really frustrated that Studiopress doesn't offer this option and won't help me find a solution.
January 8, 2014 at 10:43 am in reply to: Magazine Pro issue: icon font imported in styles.css #84009cookieandkateMemberYes, I'm sure I'm using Magazine Pro. You're right, the google font code is enqueued in functions.php. However, there is another font called Icon, which is stored locally, and called in my styles.css. I want to enqueue the Icon font in my functions.php instead of styles.css. Do you know how to do that?
December 30, 2013 at 11:22 pm in reply to: Magazine Pro: secondary and primary nav styling issues #82236cookieandkateMemberThat worked! Thank you so much!
cookieandkateMemberI can't seem to figure this out. I tried adding the following to functions.php, but it didn't do anything:
remove_action( ‘genesis_pings’, ‘genesis_do_pings’ );
The Genesis comments.php includes the following:
do_action( 'genesis_before_pings' ); do_action( 'genesis_pings' ); do_action( 'genesis_after_pings' );
I want pings to be gone!
December 29, 2013 at 11:16 am in reply to: Category and tag archives display thumbnail and title only #81848cookieandkateMemberThat trick worked great, but I want to remove the post excerpt from the HTML, too. I worry about getting penalized by google if my site doesn't display all of the content built into the HTML.
cookieandkateMemberI like that idea. My theme is Magazine Pro.
Thank you for your help!
cookieandkateMemberThat's an idea. I want to remove them from the page altogether, though, since google doesn't look kindly on links that are built into the code but don't appear on the page.
December 22, 2013 at 2:19 pm in reply to: Magazine Pro: secondary and primary nav styling issues #80792cookieandkateMemberSorry, I would, but it's a local test site. If you look at Magazine Pro's demo, you can probably see what I'm talking about: http://my.studiopress.com/themes/magazine/#demo-full
December 21, 2013 at 1:20 pm in reply to: Magazine Pro: how to designate secondary menu as the sticky menu #80649cookieandkateMemberFollowed these instructions: http://sridharkatakam.com/how-to-set-up-sticky-header-or-navigation-in-genesis/
cookieandkateMemberThat worked perfectly! Thank you so much.
