If you look in the responsive menu javascript file, you can see how the primary menu is set up and change it to the secondary menu.
cookieandkateMemberHi, I followed a tutorial I found on http://sridharkatakam.com/
March 14, 2014 at 1:44 pm in reply to: Custom page template that inserts widget before content #94915cookieandkateMemberWell, I must be really dense because I can't get this to work. Any chance someone could provide the full page.php code to make this happen? I'd be really happy if I could call in a text widget or just have an editable area in the page's PHP to add HTML.
March 13, 2014 at 2:49 pm in reply to: Custom page template that inserts widget before content #94757cookieandkateMemberYes, that's what I'd like to do. I've made a blank page template but I don't know how to a) call in a widget or b) place html code directly into the template so that code shows up before the page content.
March 13, 2014 at 2:23 pm in reply to: Custom page template that inserts widget before content #94750cookieandkateMemberThank you for your help. That's not how I'd like for the page template to work, though. I don't want to edit functions.php to specify which pages should use the custom page template. I just want a custom page template that I can choose from the drop-down menu on my page editor that adds a header above the page content.
I thought it would be easier to add the header via a widget, so I don't have to edit php code when I want to edit the header. If that complicates matters, though, forget the widget. I just want a custom page template that inserts some HTML before the page content.
Thank you so much for your input!

cookieandkateMemberHere's my solution to this issue: http://www.studiopress.community/topic/custom-search-php/
cookieandkateMemberP.s. Thanks again!
cookieandkateMemberSorry for the confusion. The plugin is working great with the code I provided above.
cookieandkateMemberVictory!!! I figured it out by consulting the codex. The reason thumbnails weren't displaying next to all of the posts is because I'm testing the code on my test site and I haven't set thumbnails for all of the test site's posts.
Final code:
<?php add_action( 'genesis_before_loop', 'genesis_do_search_title' ); /** * Echo the title with the search term. * * @since 1.9.0 */ function genesis_do_search_title() { $title = sprintf( '<div class="archive-description"><h1 class="archive-title">%s %s</h1></div>', apply_filters( 'genesis_search_title_text', __( 'Search Results for:', 'genesis' ) ), get_search_query() ); echo apply_filters( 'genesis_search_title_output', $title ) . "\n"; } // Remove post info & entry footer - Optional remove_all_actions( 'genesis_entry_footer' ); // Excerpt and "read more" link remove_all_actions( 'genesis_entry_content' ); add_action( 'genesis_entry_content', 'child_do_post_excerpt' ); function child_do_post_excerpt() { the_post_thumbnail('thumbnail', array('class' => 'alignleft')); the_excerpt(); echo '<a class="read-more-link" href="' . esc_url( get_permalink() ) . '">Continue reading ยป</a>'; } genesis();
cookieandkateMemberActually, strangely enough,
the_post_thumbnail('thumbnail');
does produce thumbnails in the search results. However, it doesn't produce a thumbnail next to each of my posts, only one here and there, which doesn't make sense because I have set a featured image for each post. Another problem is that the thumbnails don't include the "alignleft" class that they need in order to display the excerpt to the right, rather than underneath. Lastly, Relevanssi isn't working.I know that it must be possible to display the thumbnail next to the excerpt because that is how I had my search results set up on my former design.
cookieandkateMemberThat code works great. Thank you! Thank you so much.
Notes: I decided that I wanted the date and comments link to display, so I deleted that line. I found that deleting
remove_all_actions( 'genesis_entry_footer' );
made Relevanssi stop working.Lastly, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I would like for the post thumbnail to display under the title, with the post excerpt to the right of it. I tried adding
the_post_thumbnail('thumbnail');
above the_excerpt, but nothing happened. My post thumbnail size under media settings (which is the thumbnail I would like to display) is 130x179 px.Desired final result would look like my archive pages.
If you know how to display the thumbnail, I would be tremendously thankful if you could share the code.
Thank you!
KateMarch 10, 2014 at 9:14 am in reply to: How to edit next and previous post links (PHP problems) #94162cookieandkateMemberTHANK YOU! Thank you so much. Your code worked great. I modified it slightly to return the post titles instead of "Older Post"/"Newer Post" labels. I also switched the previous_post_link and next_post_link so the older posts link (on the posts) is on the same side as my older pages link (on the pages). I also added divs.
Final result: http://i.imgur.com/VfHXRPh.png
Final code: `//* Add post navigation (requires HTML5 theme support)
remove_action( 'genesis_entry_footer', 'genesis_prev_next_post_nav' );
add_action( 'genesis_entry_footer', 'cookie_prev_next_post_nav' );function cookie_prev_next_post_nav() {
if ( ! is_singular( 'post' ) )
return;genesis_markup( array(
'html5' => '<div %s>',
'xhtml' => '<div class="navigation">',
'context' => 'adjacent-entry-pagination',
) );echo '<div class="pagination-previous alignleft">';
next_post_link('%link', '<div class="custom">↢ newer post</div> %title');
echo '</div>';echo '<div class="pagination-next alignright">';
previous_post_link('%link', '<div class="custom">older post ↣</div> %title');
echo '</div>';echo '</div>';
}
'Thanks again!

March 9, 2014 at 11:17 pm in reply to: How to automatically duplicate meta description into excerpt field #94124cookieandkateMemberStill looking for a solution here.
cookieandkateMemberI'm sorry, that response was to the other issue you were helping me with. Neither of those resources provided the answer I need, unfortunately. I'm super frustrated by the lack of documentation on custom Genesis search.php's.
I believe the solution will entail calling the_excerpt instead of the_content. Any more ideas?
Thank you,
KateMarch 9, 2014 at 12:11 pm in reply to: Test site issue: saving post/page redirects to live site's home page #94061cookieandkateMemberI never found a solution to this problem. Fortunately, these issues didn't carry over to the live site after I launched the redesign.
cookieandkateMemberThank you! Yes, I was seeing the issue in Chrome. I fixed it with
.entry-content { font-size: 16px; font-size: 1.6rem; }
which is similar to the other suggested workaround.

cookieandkateMemberBummer, ok. Thank you for letting me know.
