Brad DaltonParticipant
You can use any of these code snippets and modify them http://designsbynickthegeek.com/tutorials/add-widgeted-sidebar
Brad DaltonParticipantBrad DaltonParticipantYou could use content column classes as another option. http://www.billerickson.net/using-column-classes/
Brad DaltonParticipantYou need to modify the CSS for your header in your child themes style.css file.
Another way to do this is to install the Genesis Simple Hooks plugin and paste in the HTML for your header image into the genesis_header hook field and unhook the header.
You can use the advanced image settings for your image to adjust the vertical and horizontal spacing inline.
Simply insert your header image into a new post draft and grab the HTML code from the text editor.
Brad DaltonParticipantYou should assign the uncategorized posts to a category and delete the uncategorized category.
Then you can hide the post meta using something like this:
.post-meta, .categories { display: none; }
Brad DaltonParticipantFind a child theme does already uses this layout and copy the PHP into your home.php file. You'll also need to modify the CSS for the classes generated by that code based on your themes width.
Brad DaltonParticipantAdd CSS to either widget.
Grab the class using Firebug and add your declarations to it in your child themes style.css file.
You can also install the Widget CSS Classes plugin and add a i.d and class that way if your prefer.
I assume you want to move the text inline with your social icons?
Brad DaltonParticipantIt actually works with some themes but not with others so its a problem with the CSS.
Esmi from WordPress.org might know the answer.
Brad DaltonParticipantBrad DaltonParticipantI've written a tutorial about this which includes the code for the Magazine theme which might help.
All the code is on Github https://gist.github.com/braddalton
Brad DaltonParticipantBrad DaltonParticipantNo worries Nat.
Stacy, i was actually going to do that but with a smaller amount of code using this:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/delete_comment_metaand write this into a small function but didn't think leaving the comment meta for date and time in the source code would be a problem. Still interested to try and make it work.
Which Genesis file did you grab all the code from?
Brad DaltonParticipantThanks for that code Rita.
After testing the code works, but anyone else that uses it should understand that the title area in the header needs to be modified as well.
Also the code needs to be fixed which you can do using a text editor like Notepad++.
Brad DaltonParticipantThis may need some modifying http://www.briangardner.com/sticky-menu/
Or there are plugins which will do this.
Brad DaltonParticipantYou can add them to your child themes style.css file:
@import url(http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Gabriela|Lato);Or try this in your child themes functions.php file:
/** Load Google fonts */ add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'outreach_load_google_fonts' ); function outreach_load_google_fonts() { wp_enqueue_style( 'google-fonts', 'http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Gabriela|Lato', array(), PARENT_THEME_VERSION ); }
March 13, 2013 at 7:40 am in reply to: How to conditionally format Minimum Theme to change widebar text? #25834Brad DaltonParticipantBrad DaltonParticipantThere's different ways to do this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10428720/how-to-keep-indent-for-second-line-in-ordered-lists-via-css
Brad DaltonParticipantYou'll need to add custom widgets to the home.php file or functions.php file using a conditional tags for is_home().
You can remove the posts from the home page by hiding them using CSS code or removing the loop from the home.php file.
There are many ways to customize your home page but all require custom coding.
Another option is to use a static page as your home page and add content column shortcodes to the text editor which doesn't reqiure any CSS or PHP coding only HTML.
You can also install the Generate box plugin rather than use the code from the home.php file.
Backup your files and data first.

Brad DaltonParticipantUncheck the Include Featured Image in Genesis > Theme Settings > Content Archives
or
Remove the function before_post_image for displaying a post image from your child themes functions.php file.
Brad DaltonParticipantThis CSS code will hide the date and time:
.comment-meta { display: none; }
Paste it at the end of your child themes style.css file.
