Does anyone know what the size is of the hero image shown on the demo site? https://demo.studiopress.com/breakthrough/

If you use your Dev Tools in the Browser you can find that. But to answer your question, it's 1,600px ?— 420px (scaled to 1,306px ?— 343px).
