ParticipantCould you share with us what you did? I am also working with Breakthrough Pro. I was trying to figure out how style the footer as well.

ParticipantThanks for the explanation and the example htaccess code.
The svg image comes with the theme (Breakthrough Pro)-I certainly didn't upload the file. So that's puzzlement #1.
#2: The svg image in question is indeed small-so I thought the error message lumped in with compression errors (all of them are small, <0.5k) might have other issues, such as needing a plugin for svg. But that doesn't make sense either.
I would love to use svg images on websites, tried a few plugins in the past. Which one(s) do you use?
January 27, 2019 at 3:57 pm in reply to: How do I change the display size of the featured image on individual posts? #489068Yumei
ParticipantOk. Now I assume you have the same problems as I had, which are: 1) the featured image remains, even after it's been removed; 2) whatever image you might have inserted into the content or the featured image box (in customizer) keeps appearing as the featured image, even after it's been removed.
The trick is to go to the media files, and manually detach the offending image.
Specifically, take these steps:
1. click on "media" in the dashboard;
2. select the list view;
3. In the column "uploaded to" (between "author" and "date"), you'll find the page the image is attached to. Find your image, click on "detach".Viola! The featured image no longer shows up on the page.
Now, sometimes one wants to have an image associated with a post or page, so that the image shows up on the archive page. What I have done is to insert an image into the content and it automatically serves as the featured image on archive pages, but it doesn't show up as an oversized featured image on the page.
Wish I could upload screenshots to show you. Hope this makes sense.

ParticipantThat's not the issue. When the featured image has removed, the image shouldn't appear, regardless of the setting. When there is no featured image in the "featured image" box in the customizer, but the previous image continues to appear, that is an issue. Fortunately someone showed me how to bypass the problem, but it is a problem.

ParticipantThanks for responding! The problem got fixed, thanks to someone from the Studio Press support desk. I initially couldn't get rid of the featured image (even when the default setting was not to display featured image), so I wanted to make it smaller.
The solution was to "detach" the featured image, so it wouldn't show up at all when the setting was NOT to show featured image. It's a bit of a hassle, but it's resolved.
I do wonder if this was an issue--that a featured image, once set, must be manually detached for it to go away. No other themes I've used have this problem.

Participant@andytc Thank you! I learned something that would have taken me a long time to get right.

ParticipantMaybe I replied too soon:
So I give the second function a different (unique) name. The site doesn't go blank, but the code doesn't seem to have any effect. So is this related to PHP syntax? Is this unique to Genesis's hooks? Or is this WordPress specific?
Need some pointers so I try to figure it out.

ParticipantSolved--turned out the posts had no featured image--weird, but when I tested with another post, it displayed correctly.

ParticipantI realized I never responded to @andytc -- Thank you for the link! The process is intimidating, but that's obviously what one needs to learn to customize a theme.

ParticipantI understand the first part. However, I didn't add a
.nav-header
class. I found it through the Chrome Inspector tool. Classes can't be generated on the fly--or can they?January 7, 2019 at 1:45 pm in reply to: Need help with using Genesis Simple Hooks–code works but also appears on screen #225451Yumei
ParticipantAhh! I get it--though I need to google each of the things you pointed out 🙂 Obviously I have a lot to learn. Thanks!

ParticipantHi, I watched the plugin demo but haven't tried it, but this plugin looks great! Thanks!

ParticipantThat plugin doesn't seem to do what I am asking: Insert a widget into a page.
Can that be done at all?
