Yes that is because in your css now you need to make the header right sidebar wider. So find this in your css:
.site-header .widget-areaThen in there change the width to a bigger value (it's 840px now - make it something like 890px)
upthinkParticipantInstead of opening the file via the Filezilla editor - go the local directory where you downloaded the file and open it using some text editor
upthinkParticipantActually I believe the problem is your logo - it needs to be cropped correctly. Right now it has a ton of empty space on the right side - so even though it seems that the space between the logo and the nav is empty - it is not empty and is actually part of the logo. As soon as you resize the screen a little bit the menu breaks into 2 lines because there is no space to keep both the logo and the complete menu in a single row.
upthinkParticipantBasically any FTP tool has a basic concept - moving files from the server to your PC (or the other way around). See this for better understanding: https://filezilla-project.org/client_screenshots.php
You will need to know the following:
Server IP/URL
FTP user
FTP password
(better to have SFTP instead of FTP - but that is another topic)Once you connect via FTP - in the server window (usually to the right side) go to wp-content/themes - then inside the child theme directory where you want to edit the functions.php
Download that function.php file to your local drive - edit(use any text editor you like - DO NOT USE MS WORD or another Word Processor) and then upload it again.
upthinkParticipantIn your css you have this:
.genesis-nav-menu > li.menu-item-has-children:hover > a, .genesis-nav-menu a:hover, .genesis-nav-menu .current-menu-item > a, .genesis-nav-menu .sub-menu .current-menu-item > a:hover { background-color: #fff; color: #ffffff; }
Remove the line that says:
background-color: #fff;(or change the hex code to a color you want)
upthinkParticipantAssuming you have the child theme active. Login to WP dashboard - Go to Appearance -> Edit - the css file will open - you can paste what I have sent at the very end if you want.
upthinkParticipantThe title caption in Soliloquy is removed via css - you can just enable it back in your own css
upthinkParticipantI believe the site has some sort of malware - specifically check the functions.php file - but do a thorough check (and that is where backups help!)
upthinkParticipantPutting in something like this in your child theme css file should help:
ul#menu-primary-navigation li a:hover { background: #eee; }
upthinkParticipantI don' t generally use this slider (I usually use Soliloquy or Meta Slider Pro) - but one way to approach this in general is to style it so that the caption is shown below the image in mobile. This way the image is seen all clear and the caption is also visible in a neat way below the image (reduce caption font size obviously)
upthinkParticipantI can see yoru feed fine at http://beautifille.com/feed/
upthinkParticipantI think that the links you added in WP cycle have an extra ">" in them
upthinkParticipantYou have actually found it correct - the markup is indeed in the genesis_do_loop function. So unless you also include it in your custom loop function then you are not going to have it.
What I usually do is this - create a copy of the genesis_do_loop function (but obviously call it by another name). Then change the parameters etc as I want and hook that function with genesis_loop
upthinkParticipantI have not played with this specific child theme - so there may be an easier way to do it just using the settings. But a css way that should work:
/** hide it everywhere **/ .custom-background .site-header-banner { display: none; } /** just show it on home page **/ .home .site-header-banner { display: block; }
upthinkParticipantNot sure what you mean - care to share the URL so that I can see what you mean?
upthinkParticipantThe class "home" is applied to the body only on the home page. So applying the css that Christoph suggested should work (you can setup a background image instead of a color depending on what you need exactly)
upthinkParticipantPhp executes on the server - while Javascript runs on the client. So basically use the server side language to echo statements which will run as javascript on the browser. For example:
<?php echo "<script> jQuery(document).ready(function($) { ///whatever you want }); </script>"; ?>
So basically when the HTML is sent to the browser the javascript code is in there to run on the browser.
I think any enqueue that you do in functions.php should be available in templates - so you should not bother about that. BUT it will increase the load time (so better to enqueue only inside the template where you need it).
Hope this helps
upthinkParticipantTry this:
#front-page-1 .image-section { background: none; }
upthinkParticipantNo I definitely do not suggest going without a child theme. You can use something simple like Minimum Pro.
I don't think this has anything to do with responsive web development/design - you can get the look you want very easily with a little bit of css customization.
upthinkParticipantGenesis has a sidebar called Header Right.
Why not try this:
- Set the site title
- Set the image in the header right sidebar
- Instead of having the sidebar float - make it go below the logo/site title -
