Thanks Chris & Anita - I've seen a lot of fellow bloggers (can I even call myself a blogger these days - I spend more time here than on my blog!) using both HostGator and BlueHost, so I will have to check them out.
SusanModeratorThanks for the tip, Anita. I'm on GoDaddy myself (what can I say - I was a rank amateur when I started on StudioPress and WP, and haven't bothered to look for another hosting service). I haven't updated my sites yet - I think I will wait until I move from GoDaddy.
SusanModeratorSusanModeratorYou have your site right click protected, so I can't see your code to see what's going on. Can you please disable that?
SusanModeratorLook for this in your stylesheet:
.home #inner { margin: 30px auto 0; }
Replace the 30px with another number, and that should help.
SusanModeratorPer the instructions for the Generate theme:
Insert < !--more-- > into those posts where you want the content to cut off on the main page.
SusanModerator#1. To change your color scheme, you need to edit your functions.php file. Find this line near the top of the file
require_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/lib/style.php' );
Replace it with this:
add_theme_support( 'genesis-style-selector', array( 'pretty-pink' => __( 'Pretty Pink', 'pretty' ), 'pretty-yellow' => __( 'Pretty Yellow', 'pretty' ) ) );
#2 - To add your own header (logo) - go to Dashboard > Appearance > Header, and replace the header that is currently there.
#3 - it looks like you have your navigation menu in your Header Right Widget.
SusanModeratorLooks like Alan and I were replying at the same time 🙂
SusanModeratorSandra:
The code he references is just an example of good typography versus bad typography; you wouldn't actually plug in the "good typography" code directly into your CSS.
Look for this in your CSS
body { background: #CCCCCC url(images/bg.png) repeat-x; color: #333333; font-size: 14px; font-family: Georgia, Times New Roman, Trebuchet MS; margin: 0 auto 0; padding: 0; line-height: 24px; }
Go ahead and replace the font size and padding with what he recommended in his link,
So, what you will end up with is:
body { background: #CCCCCC url(images/bg.png) repeat-x; color: #333333; font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Lato', sans-serif; margin: 0 0 25px padding: 30px; line-height: 24px; }
SusanModeratorLook for this in your functions.php file:
/** Add support for custom header */ add_theme_support( 'genesis-custom-header', array( 'width' => 960, 'height' => 100 ) );
Change that to 980 width and 210 height, and you should be good to go.
SusanModeratorSunil: We recommend you ask one question per thread, but I'll get you pointed in the right direction.
If you decide you want to return the theme, you can request a refund here , and then buy another theme.
The first thing I would recommend doing is to unprotect your site - if someone is going to help you, they need to be able to look at your code, and you have right click functionality turned off.
2) You can replace the header with your own header by going to Dashboard > Appearance > Header
3) To change the background of the dropdown, look for this in your stylesheet:
#header .menu li li a:visited { background: none; background-color: #fff; border: 1px solid #ddd; border-top: none; color: #333; font-size: 12px; padding: 9px 10px 8px; position: relative; text-align: left; text-transform: none; width: 138px; }
Replace the #fff (white) with the color of your choice for the background, and #333 (dark gray) with #fff for white text.
4) The default font is "Lora" - you can do a search and replace in your CSS for all instances of Lora. Replace it with the font of your choice. Â (You may need to import a new font, depending on which font you like).
5) If you don't feel comfortable playing with your functions.php file, go ahead and install the Simple Edits plug-in. It will allow you to customize your footer.
SusanModeratorGlad that worked. Closing this thread as resolved.
SusanModeratorOk, to add additional widget areas above the footer widgets, I recommend you follow Nick's tutorial for adding additional sidebars:
http://designsbynickthegeek.com/tutorials/add-widgeted-sidebar
You'll probably want to reference Genesis Hooks to determine where to place the sidebar:
http://my.studiopress.com/docs/hook-reference/
Because you already have footer widgets in place, you'll need to make sure you give these ones a different name. Look in your functions.php file to see how your original footer widgets were set up, and use those as a guide to help you get going in the right direction.
SusanModerator@atman - thanks for the link, and letting me know the theme - I'm just heading into a meeting, but will be back later in the morning with some assistance.
SusanModeratorPlease submit a support ticket here:
SusanModeratorIf you haven't already submitted a support ticket, you can try one last thing - go into your theme's image folder on your hosting site, and remove or rename the logo.png image

SusanModeratorYou and me both!
SusanModeratorYou can pretty much change anything 🙂
If you like the general layout of Lifestyle, then pick that one.
SusanModeratorWouldn't be too hard - you can use a plugin:
