SusanModeratorThanks for checking back in. I'm glad you got your issue resolved!
SusanModeratorA number of people on this forum have had the same issue. Here's just one of the threads:
http://www.studiopress.community/topic/css-for-visual-editor/
Here is a more recent thread from the WP Support Forums, with a suggestion that appeared to work:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/visual-editor-not-working-in-wordpress-35
Based on information from past forums of people struggling with this on old versions of WordPress, I installed theย "Use Google Libraries" plugin, and then activated it (don't forget to activate it, as it won't activate automatically after installation).
SusanModeratorHave you ever used BulletProof Security?
Per Jen in the thread I linked to:
REally pay attention to this one: Note: You can still have this problem if you have *ever* used the BulletProof Security in the past, even if you have removed it. If you are experiencing problems with menus and widgets and the editor and similar not working, and you have ever used BulletProof Security, even if you’re not using it anymore, then look for an .htaccess file in the /wp-admin directory, and delete it if it is there.
This has been a gotcha for several people who could no longer edit posts.
SusanModeratorYou're welcome. Closing this thread as resolved. ๐
SusanModeratorIn your menu, if I select "home", it takes me to this page: http://www.janezrei.com/home-2/ ย But, if I click your header, it takes me to janezrei.com (as I would expect), but I receive a 404 error message.
Since this is an issue related to setting up your account to look like the demo, I would go ahead and submit a support ticket:ย http://my.studiopress.com/help/
SusanModeratorI see "A Family Company coming soon."
What do you type into the text widget?
SusanModeratorPam - there isn't a private message capability on this forum; I don't want to put my e-mail address here on the forum, but in my signature line is a link to my blog - go there and send me an e-mail message (using the social media buttons on the top right of the screen).
SusanModeratorClearing a cache isn't WP specific - it just means clearing your browsing history - sometimes cookies stay on a machine and pull in older data, which is why I don't see what you are seeing - I'm seeing your site for the first time, so I'm looking at the latest rendition of your site.
SusanModeratorPam - I'm not seeing a menu on your home page (I'm using Safari on a Mac). Clear your cache, and see if that does it (or you could try user another browser, or checking from another computer).
SusanModeratorYou'll do fine, Anita! I set up my blog using two themes (Modern Blogger and Pretty Young Thing) when I first started out with StudioPress, and it was pretty straightforward (just a matter of experimenting with what I wanted from each theme).
SusanModeratorThe Primary Navigation lines up across the top (look at the demo) above the header.
If you just want your navigation to be under the header, select the menu you would like in Secondary Navigation, and leave the Primary Navigation empty. The secondary navigation is the one that appears below the header.
To pick the menu, go to Dashboard > Menus, and select which menu in the "Theme Locations" box.
To add your logo to the header, go to your theme folder, and under images there is a file called "PSDs" - that contains images that can be modified (in either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements - if you don't have either, I recommend getting a free trial). You can modify the header, and add your logo to it, and then upload the new one to replace the existing one.
As far as the color change - what color did you pick>
SusanModerator๐
SusanModeratorActually - I shouldn't make that assumption - the website is for a Tasmanian - you could be located anywhere ๐
SusanModeratorOh, a Tasmanian ๐ - I grew up in Melbourne.
SusanModeratorYep - I know you're using the Enterprise theme ๐
To remove the slider widget area (which is the home top 1 and home top 2):
To remove the slider widget area, open your functions.php file, and delete the following:
/** Register widget areas */ genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'home-top-1', 'name' => __( 'Home Top #1', 'enterprise' ), 'description' => __( 'This is home top #1 section.', 'enterprise' ), ) ); genesis_register_sidebar( array( 'id' => 'home-top-2', 'name' => __( 'Home Top #2', 'enterprise' ), 'description' => __( 'This is home top #2 section.', 'enterprise' ), ) );
Next, go to your home.php, and remove the following:
add_action( 'genesis_after_header', 'enterprise_home_top_helper' ); /** * Conditionally add Home Top #1 (home-top-1) sidebar and WP-Cycle. */ function enterprise_home_top_helper() { echo ' <div id="home-top-bg"> <div id="home-top"> <div class="wrap">'; if ( is_active_sidebar( 'home-top-1' ) ) { echo ' <div class="home-top-1">'; dynamic_sidebar( 'home-top-1' ); echo '</div> <!-- end .home-top-1 -->'; } echo ' <div class="home-top-2">'; if ( function_exists( 'wp_cycle' ) ) wp_cycle(); echo '</div> <!-- end .home-top-2 -->'; echo '</div> <!-- end .wrap --></div> <!-- end #home-top --></div> <!-- end #home-top-bg -->'; }
As for the Nav Bar background - are you talking about the really dark gray color that is the Primary Navigation bar? That's actually an image -ย nav.png
SusanModeratorTo clarify - are you talking about the dividing line between the nav bar and the slider? If so, look for these images in your images folder in your theme folder (on your hosting site):
home-top-wrap.png
home-top.pngRename them (I like to put the word old in front of the name).
January 4, 2013 at 7:51 pm in reply to: Studiopress, plugins, interactions, any input welcome! #9655SusanModeratorWelcome to the world of WP and in particular, StudioPress!
I haven't had issues with incompatibility with any plugins that are designed for use with WP; that's not to say that there aren't any, but I think for the most common ones, you should be good to go.
If you take the plunge and buy Genesis and a theme, you will get great support through the official help desk for the StudioPress themes, and we here on the forums will be happy to help you with any customizations for your site.
Do you currently have a site? What platform are you using if you haven't moved to WP yet.
