The resolution for this image is pretty big. It doesn't do any good for your site by placing this image as background as it will take a long time to load. You will not get any traffic probably.
If you have photoshop, than you can save this image for web-based image thus reducing the file size significantly and without much disturbing the resolution of the image. That means, saving it as a gif instead of jpg.
If you don't have photoshop, you can go to http://www.gimp.org to download this free software and can do similar things to reduce the file size.

Sorry. I have resolved it. I did not upload the banner image in my new theme images folder. It was pointing to my old theme folder.
Thanks.
SunilMemberHi,
You can just ignore the above problem I mentioned.
SunilMemberI've managed to insert a banner with the help of the simple hooks plugin. How do I remove that orange long banner below my image banner?
SunilMemberHi Brad,
I've placed these codes in my style sheet.
body {
background-color: #F7F7F7;
}And then I changed the custom background color to white. I still see the whole site in white color. I don't see the grey tone at the back of my content area.
Please help.
SunilMemberHi Brad,
Ok. I've read your post and that sounds pretty scary. I'll try to do that tomorrow. Just in case, if something goes wrong, hope you can help to fix it for me.
I notice that your website has a nice mountain background while your content area is white. Currently, I can only change the background color after you have helped installed the custom background function. I've change it to a slight gray shading and it has become gray the entire background of my site.
But I want my content area to be white. So how can I do that?
Or do you think I should just switch to the Agency theme instead if it is all too much a hassle for me to customize this theme? Or do you have any recommendations?

SunilMemberOk. I've read your post and that seems very scary indeed!
I'll try doing that and if anything goes wrong, hope you can help fix it for me.
Besides as I was earlier mentioning about the background color, I can see that you have a white background for your content area and you have a big mountain background behind it.
Currently I can change the background color after you have helped installed the custom background function. I have changed it to slight gray but I want my content area to remain white. How do I do that?
If its really too much a hassle to customize this theme, then will you be able to recommend a theme for me? Or should I just take the Agency theme instead?
SunilMemberI actually want to create a home page just like the Agency theme. There is the slideshow on the first page.
I was proposing to place a slider on my index page. The url is http://adultacnetreatmentreviews.com.
The reason I chose the eleven40 theme is because it has a wide content place and it has a great footer design.
SunilMemberI've managed to change the background color to a gray shade. But I want the content area to remain white. How should I achieve that?
Like for eg, the AgentPress theme has a dark blue background while the content area is white.
SunilMemberFantastic Brad!
Thanks a lot! Was the adding of } that messed up everything?
So how did you do it? I mean just add those codes in to my functions php file and I would get that background function option?
Yes, I see this option in my admin panel now.
Is it possible also if you can advise me on how to add a slider on the index page? I've already installed the genesis slider plugin. But this is a widget and can only be placed in the right header widget.
Or do you want me to post this on a fresh new thread?
SunilMemberHi Brad,
I've already emailed you my login details.
Hope you received them and help solve the problem.
Thankyou.
SunilMemberHi,
I uploaded the original functions php file from my pc to the respective theme folder via ftp and it still doesn't work.
I'm just an ordinary customer who is seeking to find a good theme for my site. You guys are the experts in php and css coding stuff.
Why get people like me to mess up with these things? Its really getting very frustrating enough for me. Isn't there any predesigned themes where we don't really have to customize a lot?
All I did was added these codes in the functions.php file,
/** Add support for custom background */
add_theme_support( 'custom-background' );and the whole site disappeared!
SunilMemberHi,
I've added those codes in the functions.php file.
When I tried to update it, my whole site went blank! Now I couldn't even log in!
Help!
SunilMemberHi Braddalton,
I don't see any background function under the Appearance menu. All I see are these options:
Themes
Widgets
Menus
EditorSo where is the function?
SunilMemberHi Wpsmith,
I still don't quite get it. You are saying the custom header functionality - is that found in the functions.php file?
If yes, where exactly do I need to place the above code? Where do I input my banner image name?
Basically, I just want to use a theme that can be customizable easily. It just seems to be getting more difficult as I have to handle php and css files. Isn' t wordpress supposed to be something which you don't really need to know the hard coding and build a nice site easily?
I'm just a little bit disappointed here.
Thanks.
Regards,
Sunil
SunilMemberHi Susan,
Sorry about placing too many questions here. Thanks anyway for your great direction!
I've disables the protection of my site.
I've managed to download the simple edits plugin and edited a little to the footer. Of course I would love to leave the credits to studiopress. But still not quite sure about something. I"ll try to play around with it and sort it out.
I don't see the header option under the Dashboard - Appearance option. Seems like the only place I need to insert a banner is in the functions.php file. I've looked at the codes and they are very confusing to me. Any other solutions?
Sorry, I also wanted to know how to change the background color of the site. Its all white now. I only want to leave the content area white so that it can stand out and the site will not look very wide.
Thank You!
