    Thank you all. So it seems you are all saying I select the Genesis Framework as my Theme in WP.
    Then select the pose Child theme on top of that.
    Then I start styling the Prose Child only.

    Yes I have two wordpress blogs since approx 2007. I planned to put the smaller one in maintenance mode while I style the new theme. I have always done that when I changed themes in the past on the blog. Of course I have not done that in a while since I used Thesis Theme for the past five or so years and would make style changes while the blog was still up. I just figured I would put it in maintenance mode since it might take me a while to get the styling the way I want it using this new theme for the first time.

    @Sheryl wouldn't the general settings in WP remain the same like when I change to any other theme or is it different with Genesis/Prose?

    @scoe
    Thanks for the offer. I just ran into some crappola in my life this afternoon so I won't be able to work on the blog change tonight as planned. I will have to table this until this coming weekend. Argh. The best laid plans..blah blah blah

    Took me a while to get back. Thank you for the point in the right direction Andrea. It is most appreciated.
