MarcyParticipant
Hi,
You can find the section
.featured-top {
background-color: transparent;
clear: both;
margin: 0 auto;
overflow: hidden;
padding: 20px;
width: 920px;
}
Change the padding line to be:
padding: 0;

MarcyParticipantThat little triangle border is a separate piece that sits at the top of the section with the posts in it. It has a transparent background to show the background above it through. The header sits above it.
You can add a solid background color to that selector that matches the header like this:
Find this section, and then right before "url(" add the color that you want. White is #ffffff, so that's what I added. If you need help with your color, put your header back up, so I can see it and tell you the color.
#inner-top {
background: #ffffff url("images/inner-top.png") repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
height: 6px;
margin: 0 auto;
width: 960px;
}

MarcyParticipantFind the section
.sidebar .widget {
margin-bottom: 4rem;
}
If you just want more space, use a bigger number - 4.5rem or 5rem
If you want a border like the Magazine theme, add
border-top: medium double #DDDDDD;

MarcyParticipantThe code didn't paste correctly.
add_action( 'genesis_before_entry_content', 'custom_add_feature_image' ); function custom_add_feature_image() { if ( (is_singular( 'post' ) ) && ( has_post_thumbnail() ) ) { genesis_image( array( 'size' => 'large', 'attr' => array('class' => 'aligncenter') ) ); } }
You want to use 'large' or 'medium' for the 'size' as well.
Edit: Fixing the 2 ampersands that aren't pasting correctly
The code should have && rather than code in the if portion of the code

MarcyParticipantYes, you can create categories for each grade. Once you've created a category, you can edit it so that you can add an Archive Title and Description for each grade.
Let's say you make a category Grade 2. The category slug would be grade-2 (you can view this is you click the Quick Edit link below the Category name). Then the page with the category would be yoursite.com/category/grade-2. Every post that you give the category Grade 2 will be listed then.
You can add each Category to your menu, if you like or just make a list of links.Additional Info:
There is another method that still seems to work, although I thought Brian Gardner had a post on it, but now it seems to be missing.
Here is another post that details how to do it. This is a very easy method too. You would just create a separate page for each grade.
http://www.basicwp.com/filter-posts-by-category-tag-genesis/
or
http://www.trishasalas.com/create-a-blog-page-with-a-single-category-in-genesis/(Use the Screen Options in the upper RH corner when you are on a Add New Page to make sure that Custom Fields is checked.)

MarcyParticipantIt's because the theme has images scaled to 100%.
Rather than scaling the image, it's probably best to choose one of the available sizes when you insert the image. There should be a Thumbnail 150x150, Medium 300x ..., and Large 1024x ... And they are at the very bottom of the right hand screen area when you choose Add Media and upload or select an image.
If you want a smaller image, choose the Medium size. If you need a particular size (width) for all your posts, Here's how to do it.In your functions.php, at the end add
// Add new image size for posts add_image_size('custom-post-image-size', 700, 999 ); // Add filter so new post image size shows in Media uploader add_filter('image_size_names_choose', 'custom_image_sizes'); function custom_image_sizes($sizes) { $customimagesizes = array( "custom-post-image-size" => __( "Post Image" ), ); $customimagesizes = array_merge($sizes, $customimagesizes); return $customimagesizes; }
For this example, in add_image_size('custom-post-image-size', 700, 999 );
the 700 is the width that you want for all your post images; the 999 means that the height won't be cropped.
You can choose any pixel width, instead of 700Now whenever you upload a new image, you can choose the Post Image size. If you need to change the sizes of images you already uploaded, you can use a plugin called Regenerate Thumbnails.

August 10, 2013 at 4:00 pm in reply to: Lining up Blog post and primary sidebar on education theme #55540MarcyParticipantFind this section in your style.css
.content-sidebar-sidebar #sidebar-alt {
float: right;
margin: 15px 0 15px -5px;
}If you also want it to line up on your blog page, then just edit that section to be:
.content-sidebar-sidebar #sidebar-alt {
float: right;
margin: 0 0 15px -5px;
}

MarcyParticipantLook in style.css for .site-description
Change it to look like this:
.site-description {
display: none;
}You can comment out the original code with:
/*.site-description {
[---some code---]
}*/

MarcyParticipantOK. Here it is. This one works on Sixteen Nine Pro. Sorry for the confusion at first. Hope it helps!
add_action( 'genesis_before_entry_content', 'amethyst_add_feature_image' ); function amethyst_add_feature_image() { if ( (is_singular( 'post' )) && (has_post_thumbnail()) ) { genesis_image( array( 'size' => 'amethyst-post-image-size', 'attr' => array('class' => 'aligncenter') ) ); } }
Edit: When pasting code into a code block, in some browsers the underscores disappear, so be sure to copy and paste the code.

MarcyParticipantYou need to manage the custom post type template with the Genesis hooks. You just turn them on or off to get the layout you want for your page. And if sometimes, it's easier for you to do certain things with WordPress code, like custom loops, for instance, that works too. You can find nearly anything you need to know by using Google search with genesis at the beginning.
This tells you how to use hooks:
http://my.studiopress.com/docs/hooks/
This is where the hooks are located:
http://genesistutorials.com/visual-hook-guide/
And Nick has lots of info on hooks (as do others).
http://designsbynickthegeek.comHere is my sample to get you started. Basically all I left was the title, and then I replaced the content area with the custom post type content.
<?php /* This is the template for the single supporter custom post page - single-supporter.php */ remove_action( 'genesis_before_post_content', 'genesis_post_info' ); remove_action( 'genesis_after_post_content', 'genesis_post_meta' ); remove_action( 'genesis_after_post', 'genesis_get_comments_template' ); remove_action( 'genesis_post_content', 'genesis_do_post_content' ); add_action( 'genesis_post_content', 'c3_supporter_post_content' ); function c3_supporter_post_content() { global $post; // Needed or get_post_meta won't return data $logo = get_post_meta($post->ID, '_ccc_logo_id', true);// Note the _id $description = get_post_meta($post->ID, '_ccc_description', true); //This is from Bill Erickson on GitHub for Custom MetaBoxes if ( $logo ) : $logo_thumbnail = wp_get_attachment_image_src( $logo, 'supporter-thumbnail' ); echo '<img />'; endif; echo '<div class="supporter-info">'; if ($description) { echo '<p><span>About:</span></p>'; echo '<p>'. $description .'</p>'; } echo '</div> <!-- end .supporter info -->'; } //End function c3_supporter_before_post_content genesis();
Note: There are underscores in the code that aren't showing in my browser, so you may need to copy the code into an editor to see it better.

MarcyParticipantUse ftp to rename your current genesis folder.
Then either use ftp to upload the 2.0 unzipped genesis directory or install the genesis 2.0 zip from Appearance >Themes. If all goes well, you can use ftp to delete the renamed old genesis folder later.
Marcy | Amethyst Website Design | Twitter
MarcyParticipantI'm sorry, I can't get this code to work on the Sixteen Nine Pro theme either.
Make a new post and ask the question again, so someone else will see it's not answered.
Marcy | Amethyst Website Design | Twitter
MarcyParticipantI'm sorry it's not working for you; it works for me. Maybe you can go to the link and get the orignal code?
Here are some more posts to help with images.
http://surefirewebservices.com/development/genesis-framework/using-the-genesis-featured-image
http://designsbynickthegeek.com/tutorials/genesis-explained-image-functionsThe first link is nearly exactly the code I pasted above, except that there is a 5 instead of an 8, which would make it load earlier, so try that. Otherwise I don't know what to tell you.
Marcy | Amethyst Website Design | Twitter
MarcyParticipantI don't see a broken image in the code, but it could be because the quote marks didn't paste correctly. I also can't seem to edit the post, so here it is again. I hope I got all the quotes. Is this what you wanted?
add_action( 'genesis_entry_content', 'agency_post_image', 8 ); function agency_post_image() { if (( is_single() ) && ( $image = genesis_get_image( 'format=url&size=post-image' ) )) { printf( '%s', get_permalink(), $image, the_title_attribute( 'echo=0' ) ); } }
Marcy | Amethyst Website Design | Twitter
MarcyParticipantDid I misunderstand? I thought you wanted an image to show up.
Marcy | Amethyst Website Design | Twitter
MarcyParticipantIn your functions.php did you change the html5 line to remove "genesis-"?
In RC it's
//* Add HTML5 markup structure
add_theme_support( 'genesis-html5' );In 2.0 it needs to be changed to:
//* Add HTML5 markup structure
add_theme_support( 'html5' );

MarcyParticipantTo add the nav to the right side as in the demo, you first need to go to Appearance > Menu and create a menu and give it a name. You don't need to assign it to a Location.
Then you go to Appearance > Widget and drag Custom Menu Widget into Header Right. Then choose the menu name you just created.
For the other question, you site isn't loading right now, so I can't see what you're trying to do. Add your nav menu and see what happens.
Marcy | Amethyst Website Design | Twitter
MarcyParticipantThat should be Genesis 2.0 using html5. I modified the code in the link below for html5 and is_single().
Please let me know if it works for you.// Add Post image above post title, single posts only
add_action( 'genesis_entry_content', 'agency_post_image', 8 );
function agency_post_image() {
if (( is_single() ) && ( $image = genesis_get_image( 'format=url&size=post-image' ) )) {
printf( '', get_permalink(), $image, the_title_attribute( 'echo=0' ) );
}
}

August 7, 2013 at 7:11 pm in reply to: Upgraded to Genesis 2.0.0 but Post Info text now displays incorrectly #54775MarcyParticipantYes, the genesis_post_info hook has changed just a bit. Since you're running eleven40 though, I would just update to 2.0 whenever you can. That should fix it.
Marcy | Amethyst Website Design | Twitter
MarcyParticipantYes, I was just going to ask if you had tried that. Saw this post a bit ago, and but just saw the fix.
