January 9, 2018 at 4:33 pm in reply to: Add Portfolio Custom Post Type to Genesis – Featured Posts Widget #215247MarcyParticipant
You can use this plugin - Genesis Featured Widget Amplified
Or you can also use this plugin - Featured Custom Post Type Widget for Genesis
https://github.com/calliaweb/featured-custom-post-type-widget-for-genesisBoth of these have settings for custom post types.

MarcyParticipantGo to Posts > Tags and click on the tag you want to add the description to.
Then you want to add an Archive Headline and Archive Intro Text (the description).
Genesis uses those and not the WordPress Name and Description.

MarcyParticipantCreate a page called Blog. Keep the template (over on the right) on Default.
Create a page called Home Page (you don't need anything on it.)
Go to Settings > Reading.
Set the Home page to Home Page.
Set the Posts page to Blog.
Save.In general, that's how you do it for themes without a Blog Page template.

July 18, 2017 at 10:49 am in reply to: Portfolio Pro plugin archive images are inconsistent sizes #209274MarcyParticipantI looked at the plugin and the theme.
The theme overwrites the image size in functions.php. It is 600px wide by 800px tall.
You can change the image size there to be whatever size you want for your portfolio images, as long as you keep the width to height ratio to be 600/800 = 3/4
So you could change the image size to be 450px wide by 600px tall, if that's your least tall image.
Or even 300px wide by 400px tall.In functions.php, find this line near line 46, and comment it out with // in front of it, as shown, and then copy it and make a new line with the image widths you want.
`// add_image_size( 'portfolio', 600, 800, TRUE );
add_image_size( 'portfolio', 450, 600, TRUE );`I think that will work.

MarcyParticipantI don't know if you can use both plugins together.
Go ahead and install Content Aware Sidebars, and see what happens.But if I had 20 sidebars, and needed more control over them than Simple Sidebars gives (on a per post or per page basis), I would take the time to redo them, so that they worked the way I wanted going forward.
Marcy | Amethyst Website Design | Twitter
MarcyParticipantSince you don't code, it will be easier if you just control the widgets in the sidebar, depending on which page you are on.
There are many ways to do this. If you have Jetpack, you can use the Visibility module.
You can read about how it works here:If you want to use a really powerful plugin to control your sidebar content, try Content Aware Sidebars - https://wordpress.org/plugins/content-aware-sidebars/

July 17, 2017 at 4:46 pm in reply to: Portfolio Pro plugin archive images are inconsistent sizes #209235MarcyParticipantIt looks like the height of some of the images that you uploaded are only 662px tall.
This one is 733px tall.The rest are at least 800px tall, which is what is needed for all the heights to be the same; the theme assumes that all images are at least that tall. The theme cropping works as long as you have an image large enough to start with. You can use a graphics program to resize the shorter images to 800px tall and upload them again, and then they will be the same size.

May 3, 2017 at 7:25 am in reply to: Smart Passive Income: Front Page Background Image setting missing #205799MarcyParticipantThank you for letting me know. I wondered about that plugin when I saw it in your customizer.
Sugar Event Calendar by Pippin is a simple events plugin. You may need the premium version for features though. There are a few free add-ons, like Google maps.

April 30, 2017 at 11:14 am in reply to: Smart Passive Income: Front Page Background Image setting missing #205659MarcyParticipantThe front page image won't show unless you add a widget to the Front Page 2 widget area. But the Front Page Image section should still show in the customizer.
* A fresh install of the theme should have the default theme colors too.
Did you change those again? If so, how? In the customizer?* Deactivate all plugins except for those listed in the setup instructions.
- Genesis – eNews Extended Widget
- Simple Social Icons
Do you see the Front Page Background Image in the Customizer?
Leave the plugins deactivated for the next step.* Did you download the theme again before doing the fresh install? If not, please download again, and then reinstall.
Are you deleting the current theme in Appearance > Themes or are you using FTP? If using FTP, delete all the files before uploading.
Do you see the Front Page Background Image?
Are the colors the default colors?The Front Page Background Image needs a number of files to work.
* Look in your theme folder for the /lib folder.
Do you see these files?
customize.php
customizer-scripts.js
helper-functions.php
output.php
theme-defaults.phpAnd this folder?
woocommerce
Have you made any changes to any of those files?* Look in your theme folder for /images folder.
Do you see front-page-2.jpg?* Look in your theme functions.php. Do you see these lines as active - not commented out? They are all near the top of functions.php, but are not all together.
// Setup Theme.
include_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/lib/theme-defaults.php' );// Add theme helper functions.
include_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/lib/helper-functions.php' );// Add Image upload and Color select to WordPress Theme Customizer.
require_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/lib/customize.php' );// Include Customizer CSS.
include_once( get_stylesheet_directory() . '/lib/output.php' );If all those files are there, and there are no plugins interferring, then that section should be there in the customizer.
Have you contacted StudioPress directly?

April 29, 2017 at 3:41 pm in reply to: Smart Passive Income: Front Page Background Image setting missing #205547MarcyParticipantThe version of Smart Passive Income that you are using is the most recent one in your My StudioPress. The Front Page Background Image section in the customizer is just below Site Identity.
The image should show behind the Front Page 2 widget. I only see Front Page 3 and 4 in your website. Do you see Front Page 2, and are you able to add a text widget, so that you can see if the image shows up then?

MarcyParticipantSridhar's one page theme here is definitely responsive. 🙂
http://websitesetuppro.com/demos/one-pager-genesis/Other themes that could work for you are:
Parallax Pro (use only one sidebar)
Modern Studio Pro
Sixteen Nine Pro (use only one sidebar)
Lifestyle Pro
There are a few others, too.It's work, but straightforward to set up the themes, if you follow the setup instructions step-by-step. Then once that's done, you can ask about making changes.

MarcyParticipantYou want to specify a depth of 0 for a drop down. Also you can use the container_class for the wrap, so that the menu has the same width as the other wraps, and then the menu_class should have something in addition to genesis-nav-menu to help with styling.
genesis_nav_menu( array( 'theme_location' => 'third-menu', 'container' => 'div', 'container_class' => 'wrap', 'menu_class' => 'menu genesis-nav-menu third-menu', 'depth' => 0 ) );

MarcyParticipantMarcyParticipantHi,
I recommend the Crop Thumnails plugin for that because it's so quick. You can choose the part of the image you want for all your theme image sizes.
