Moody Riveria how kind!
I'll take a good look many thanks!
JennyLonMemberHi Moddy, thanks will read through to see if it can help good of you!
If maybe still somewhat struggling I'll get back here and say sot... aAnd yes Totally agree with you as you said those instructions by wordpress moving wordpress really are intimidating .... Nicely described language!
indeed numerous newbies say exactly same thing!
Plugins to do this sure may well work do you know of any free ones?BUT that said ... still need to specifically even with plugin (some have awful or no instructions )..... know what to move or rename and do....
As explained I will be ready soon to have the sub folder site become the new live site and HOW to get it in main root folder of my website ****and then plus take out the current entire old existing theme and content and put that in a sub directory so it all works stillJennyLonMemberHow funny I saw that actually it lost me sorry it frankly went over my head look way to complex hence I posted here !
Infact also 6 of my office people were baffled and tried to follow it for lay people it seemd a mindfieldso again anyone can you help simply explain what I have to do said in much simpler terms your grandma or 16 year old daughter could likely grasp?
May 9, 2015 at 10:17 am in reply to: Copy Existing Website Static Pages to New Theme Help Advice #151260JennyLonMemberSince my last reply, my contact web guy is going to fresh theme as old one has accumulated too much old bloat on data base plugin used, etc etc and we will simply flow in previous content bit by bit we discussed best option and start over
so all sorted...
this post can be marked as resolvedMay 9, 2015 at 8:21 am in reply to: Copy Existing Website Static Pages to New Theme Help Advice #151233JennyLonMemberHi SavvyJackie
sorry the reply just went right over my head I am totally new to all this wow no idea what local development server means to techie not for me!!
please just confirm if what I said would work or another way for someone easy to do and newbie to this!
I can do cpanel and ftp okno interest in custom css to a new theme or know how (someone a few years ago did a few things to current existing site) I can handle what new theme it offers out the box is fine and afew hooks and widgets to do what I want added
JennyLonMemberThanks soo much, very helpful Christoph, very kind of you to explain and get back to me I am very clear now, re new theme and content copy/back up etc.
Jenny
JennyLonMemberThanks Christoph, a lot of work beyond me coding wise... I think it might be easier to migrate from our old lifestyle 1.0 and frankly start over with a new mobile friendly responsive studio press theme such as Lifestyle pro and transfer all my words picts over to that.
I have a question as best way to go about this swap over since some pages get ranked nicely already and traffic regularly and business
******I can't just switch themes as already explained the current theme is all customized size wise etc so it will mean swapping all content into new theme. To start swapping should I create the new theme in a sub directory of existing website (and not obviously make it live UNTIL once everything is in it) and have theme looking how I want and ready to go live I then guess I switch directories of taking newly created theme site and take everything over to where the current old one on main root of site is remove old site everything and add in new one...is that the logical best simple way to do this?JennyLonMemberI have no idea what media media queries is.... or why I need them please explain....
ThanksJennyLonMemberThanks Christoph very much indeed -
1) Genesis custom header may certainly help will look into early next week and have a play meantime I need to clarify with you or someone reading this please
my existing CSS and mention of the header graphic file etc.. as follows:So as explained in my original post right now in our css style sheet the header image graphic has it appear on every page etc...so my question is do I leave that and no need to touch and will get over ride/written as such?.....*****if I go for the options such as Genesis custom header plugin
or even try this option 2 you gave ) wpsites.net/web-design/image-slider-wordpress-header/
(which I have read funny enough this week before actually...)so do I keep on our style sheet if using either of the options above the mention of the j-peg image etc for the main graphic header?
****As bare in mind I do want some pages to have an image graphic header as is the one now still, and other pages at times a likely slider.
I may try the home page with a slider and if don't like I may need to swap it back to image graphic header -hence your thoughts/feedback please and keeping the style sheet the same? Thanks Jenny!
March 22, 2015 at 3:07 pm in reply to: Content page suddenly has a bottom scroll slider added! #145231JennyLonMemberOk, further to my last post
I changed the css of:
content .entry-content
hidden; instead of its default auto:
and it cured it! BUT, not sure If I did the right good thing though?
Please let me know in case down the road may cause other problems this change I did might not be the correct thing...?
(my thoughts are as maybe something on the page when last edited caused this scroll bar to suddenly be there and hence technically the offending issue is still there?)Basically I found how to fault find this by I did a google search and asked this: website has content overflow problem
first page came up and helped me and I quickly read through (much way above me!) however, he mentioned on way was to simply change the code as mentioned from content overflow of original of being auto, to now calling it hidden
maybe others out there who suddenly get scroll bar added to one of their pages vertical or in my case horizontal at the bottom of one of my pages will find this resource useful: at this site: https://css-tricks.com/findingfixing-unintended-body-overflow/March 22, 2015 at 2:07 pm in reply to: Content page suddenly has a bottom scroll slider added! #145220JennyLonMemberThanks, but no idea what changes I specifically actually need to do code wise!? to the style sheet As mentioned ....
Using chrome element simply by me un checking the over flow auto auto box thing it got rid of it but what do you ACTUALLY have to do, once you find that bit of code in my style sheet?***Also no idea how suddenly it came about and added in this width scroll bar-any ideas why it may have happened?

November 10, 2014 at 12:26 pm in reply to: Help creating 3 featured content boxes side by side please #131090JennyLonMemberKellylise you pasted in a link but no actual message itself here to me. Hmm, anyways I clicked on it yes that code you created has 3 boxes and saw your video.
However i have not got a clue how to go about getting it to display whatever images I want and look similar to hers bottom of page (kendallsummerhawk.com) and would want layout I use genesis theme lifestyle
It seems to me I paste in the code in my theme style sheet BUT also do need the geneses column plugin as well? (if so this looked complex trying to figure out what to use for it to have three boxes and create similar look of persons website link I gave.
***out of curiosity ***I noticed I do not have a widget known as home widget for my theme it is lifestyle (vers 1.0 )
my guess is maybe it is supposed to be so if anyone knows ?
as this appeared to be a widget the person used for her boxes using chrome elements web tools thing from what I can see.November 9, 2014 at 11:32 pm in reply to: Help creating 3 featured content boxes side by side please #131032JennyLonMemberThanks re maybe try Genesis Sandbox Featured Content Widget plugin however wow look complex and would not have a clue frankly how and what code to use the correct short code to recreate on static page similar three content info boxes side by side and igo about adding whatever images and header as in the way the persons website link has done hers etc I mentioned in my initial post help request here.

August 22, 2014 at 9:28 pm in reply to: Noticed a few code symbols appeared top of my background header graphic #120588JennyLonMemberHi Anita
thanks for insights-we use genesis lifestyle theme (1.0vs) it does have various function files went through them doing and using f key for search/ find and typing in the words 'header' could not spot anything around every instance of header word etc in the various files...
anyways, that said way above me and not knowing really a clue what to look or spot ! and was looking for same symbols similar to that being shown right now above the graphic. Our web guy is back in about a week he'll know and then ask him what specific file and where caused it for future
funny as never spotted it unless it is just pure coincidence until doing a webmaster tools google register new site for non wwww. version and it put a code in the header as you know and one was already there for the www. version gosh maybe it kind of messed with it somewhat maybe not aside also from doing new plugin updates never touched personally and function files -oh well my web guy corrected this a year back same thing he's back of vacation soon just like to try and learn this stuff and how to fix useful!
****by the way really oh my goodness did not mean to ever come across as annoyed, discourteous (if you knew me you would absolutely know!) frankly a little taken back and shocked it was interpreted that way! wow... oh my gosh. and happy to have this removed entirely if anyone thinks that...so sorry!
Jenny
August 22, 2014 at 8:39 pm in reply to: Noticed a few code symbols appeared top of my background header graphic #120580JennyLonMemberRen,
wow - wonderful misinterpretation of ones reply not in any way rude or hostile I did say and mention it may not be css and another file in my actual post on this. Hmm you take things very personally and 19 people and friends etc and here in our office are quite flabbergasted in your reply and reaction. oh well I simply said words on a page ( then one interprets in your head how it sounds nice or aggressive.... I am not responsible for how you perceive it and your reACTion).I just said and replied You did not give any solutions or where to look - now you take things the wrong way as me being rude or not thankful just for saying that which sorry for being honest I was simply non the wiser and did as mentioned indeed say it might be another file not css causing this and you agreed basically!
have a good weekend. and lets move on....and agree to well clearly disagree on my reply and the way you decide to reaACT on it...
(Nothing has any meaning...other than the meaning, WE decide - to give it...)
someone kindly may offer some insights and specific pointers
