At the very top of every page live actual site on the space and little margin just literally above the header graphic banner out the blue just noticed a little bit of code appears like this
" />This code symbol one can see on every page It shows up at the top part of the background image shade color fade we use and is annoying...want to try and remove it please!
I do this for my partner am new to inspect elements tool using chrome extension and seems to be the body background BUT can't seem to locate on the css style sheet that specific code symbol or error causing it it is to remove or correct it.
Have tried opening up the css style sheet in word press editor but can't find the error eve though found the header and background image color any help would be much appreciated the website is (The Ultimate Therapist (dotcom)
It maybe of course not be an issue in the css sheet but another file also I think it happened around when resubmitting last week domain name with www structure to google webmaster tools and it embeds a code in the header just a guess.
many thanks
JennyAugust 22, 2014 at 10:13 am #120491Ren VenturaMemberIt is unlikely to be a CSS problem. It looks like you have incorrect (extra) HTML in one of your functions for where it's being outputted.

August 22, 2014 at 3:44 pm #120542JennyLonMemberRen you have lost me no idea what you even mean by saying incorrect (extra) HTML in one of your functions!
what are functions - and you offer no solutions or help here's what to do and how to find it

August 22, 2014 at 4:38 pm #120551Ren VenturaMemberSo that's how you thank someone who offers FREE help just because you don't understand what they mean? You could say thank-you and politely ask for additional help or clarification rather than saying I have offered no solution (I actually did). Without seeing your code, no one can know exactly where the problem is. Good luck.

August 22, 2014 at 5:55 pm #120565AnitaKeymasterGoodness gracious! @Ren you are right.
Jenny, you didn't provide enough information for us to really help you. But one key place to look is Genesis > Theme Settings - scroll down to Header and see if you have code there. If not, you'll need to open up all the files you've edited and look for it.
That's a "response." And please... be courteous when you come to the forum. We volunteer our time to come here.

August 22, 2014 at 8:39 pm #120580JennyLonMemberRen,
wow - wonderful misinterpretation of ones reply not in any way rude or hostile I did say and mention it may not be css and another file in my actual post on this. Hmm you take things very personally and 19 people and friends etc and here in our office are quite flabbergasted in your reply and reaction. oh well I simply said words on a page ( then one interprets in your head how it sounds nice or aggressive.... I am not responsible for how you perceive it and your reACTion).I just said and replied You did not give any solutions or where to look - now you take things the wrong way as me being rude or not thankful just for saying that which sorry for being honest I was simply non the wiser and did as mentioned indeed say it might be another file not css causing this and you agreed basically!
have a good weekend. and lets move on....and agree to well clearly disagree on my reply and the way you decide to reaACT on it...
(Nothing has any meaning...other than the meaning, WE decide - to give it...)
someone kindly may offer some insights and specific pointers

August 22, 2014 at 9:26 pm #120587Ren VenturaMemberJenny,
I understand that my answer may not have been extremely specific but I was operating under the assumption that you would have an idea of what code to look at (i.e. header functions).
I do have to disagree that someone is not responsible for how something they write is perceived. There is plenty a person can do to imply a tone in written communication and I'm not the only one to have interpreted your response as rude. Personally, I take a lot of time when writing something to ensure that I'm conveying the proper tone so that a potential misunderstanding like this is avoided. Although it does seem that your first response was not very friendly, you do have my apologies if indeed that was not the case.
Regarding your Genesis trouble, you will need to post some more specifics so that someone can provide a more accurate response for resolving it.

August 22, 2014 at 9:28 pm #120588JennyLonMemberHi Anita
thanks for insights-we use genesis lifestyle theme (1.0vs) it does have various function files went through them doing and using f key for search/ find and typing in the words 'header' could not spot anything around every instance of header word etc in the various files...
anyways, that said way above me and not knowing really a clue what to look or spot ! and was looking for same symbols similar to that being shown right now above the graphic. Our web guy is back in about a week he'll know and then ask him what specific file and where caused it for future
funny as never spotted it unless it is just pure coincidence until doing a webmaster tools google register new site for non wwww. version and it put a code in the header as you know and one was already there for the www. version gosh maybe it kind of messed with it somewhat maybe not aside also from doing new plugin updates never touched personally and function files -oh well my web guy corrected this a year back same thing he's back of vacation soon just like to try and learn this stuff and how to fix useful!
****by the way really oh my goodness did not mean to ever come across as annoyed, discourteous (if you knew me you would absolutely know!) frankly a little taken back and shocked it was interpreted that way! wow... oh my gosh. and happy to have this removed entirely if anyone thinks that...so sorry!
Jenny
August 22, 2014 at 9:32 pm #120590JennyLonMemberThanks Ren!
see end of Anita my reply horrified I upset anyone....!!
August 22, 2014 at 9:35 pm #120591briansteelecaMemberJenny, I understand how Ren could interpret your comment as being "snippy", but I don't believe that was your intent. Sometimes there are misunderstandings when we communicate in this fashion, so why don't we just move on...
Ren is correct, this sounds like you have an HTML problem rather than CSS. Possibly a set of HTML tags (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML_element) that aren't closed properly. The bottom line: something is outputting some bad HTML code. Unfortunately, these sorts of problems can be difficult to troubleshoot.
A good place to start is type your domain into the W3C Markup Validation Service (http://validator.w3.org/) and see what errors are found in your HTML document. In your case, there's a lot, but a single markup error such as this can cascade into hundreds. Something is outputting bad HTML, so now is the difficult task of figuring out what it is.
google-site-verification shows up early in often in the report, so that's probably a good first place to look. Is there a plugin that adds that code? Looking at your HTML source code, this may offer a clue:
<!-- All in One Webmaster plugin by Crunchify.com -->
So I'd suggest disabling that plugin, and see if that fixes the problem. If not, then start disabling other plugins one by one. If it's still there, you're probably going to need to get some help outside of this forum.
August 22, 2014 at 9:52 pm #120592JennyLonMemberMany thanks Brian!
Will have a quick play yes All in One Webmaster plugin was used hence will like you said, disable and then test each one yes I thought it might be a quickie fix as such to locate so if no joy I'll wait till our web guy is back!again thanks for reaching out
JennyAugust 22, 2014 at 10:11 pm #120596JennyLonMemberThanks Brian solved thanks to you and insight re All in One Webmaster plugin was used !
Yes updates we did re webmaster tools and add new site for non www and did so last week using the plugin I recall now folk said then just remove when done and forgot - as they never said why remove it ( which any not used plugin should be removed yeah -I know, I know!) who would think it does this code issue wow!
many thanks indeed for spotting this so kind of you geez the errors W3C Markup Validation Service finds though hundreds oh my gosh!
Right will tell our web guy to fix most important ones that amount are crazy!
