When I do this i don't get the header and footer - just the code - might be a conflict with a plug-in in that site.
Also the code gets distorted - doesn't pick up the table well.
I think I'll need to look into plug-ins unless there is something I'm missing.I think it may be fixed - my tech person found a broken link in another theme I'm not using that seemed to be interfering with my Studiopress. I guess it's important to delete all "old" themes except one as backup.
Yes - when I tried to reinstall I got the message "The plug-in generated 187 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice "headers already sent" messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating and removing this plug-in." It might have come up the first time I tried to install but I didn't notice.
However, the plug-in works on my other WP site with Thesis (I have a license for all sites) and it's an established product, so I doubt it's the code.

It's a little tricky using PHP! The Genesis 404 plugin is a dream - just doesn't work with child themes.
I wouldn't mind adding CSS code to the custom folder but this is complicated! Thanks for the info: I might study it and learn how or delegate to a techie; if you know PHP it seems pretty easy.Thanks ... That's probably my only issue with the theme!
I'll look at the Magazine theme. Are there other Studiopress themes that are wider?Like ... duh! Thank you! I should have checked the simple stuff first. But I've inadvertently found a way to create that type of menu if I want to. 😉
