MemberThank you Susan!

MemberI think everyone has given you great advice. The slider still appears to be a little too wide though and is spilling from the designated area.
For me the site is slow. Have you though about speeding it up by using the free version of Incapsula? That could speed you up a bit without the hassle of using a caching plugin.

MemberThank you Marvia - that's appreciated. If you'd like a quote I can give you one. Contact me at [email protected] - that would be on our bespoke service like the client above used.
We have a lower cost option too which may be of interest. We created a plugin called WP Whoosh. It installs Genesis sites. If you ask me to do a design that ends up in there then the cost is much lower as I am able to re-use it. You can contact me from that site if that appeals to you.

MemberExactly - WOW - you have inspired me to use Epik. I actually bought it some weeks ago and then lost interest in it. Not now!!

MemberTo make a site look like its demo site, follow the instructions given here (in the case of Magazine) :

MemberVery good Amelia. Your slider looks particularly nice.
You could make the logo much sharper by creating it as a .png file is one comment I'd make.

MemberIt's not obvious that the buying happens from within the plugin. You are right - it is confusing. I am going to fix.

MemberThat is so simple and beautiful. I switched from Thesis too about 18 months ago. Very well done.
elizabeth
MemberWell, your struggling does not show - it is big and bold. I like it.
elizabeth
MemberI'd like to be included too. We are a Genesis only shop and are located in the UK. I'll connect with you on Twitter. @lizzydiy

MemberDanny - thanks .... we had that home page image down to about 180K or something like that - via "save to web" like you say. But I was showing the site to Dan really to demonstrate the effect of Incapsula but he got interested in the file weight of the image and said it was way too big. He saved it to be about 62K arguing that the image was fuzzy to begin with so why not reduce the quality way down. Dan would not agree that 250K is OK for an image.
In my membership site (The Genesis Club) I have a photographer who I think it would be fair to say, could not give a stuff about what Google may think, she is never going to let her images go onto a webpage without a decent amount of quality. It's just too important for her. It's her Art and a reflection on her.
Whereas an SEO expert and technician like Dan is going to be motivated by web page marketing, rankings, user experience and the damage a slow page will do to those things. Horses for courses and all that.

MemberOh my gosh - I didn't realise I had so many replies here.
@Susan - thank you. The wine glass rings are since I learned about brushes in Photoshop. Slow or what? I can't put them down now.
@Charles - Thank you.@Danny - How could you not know that was me! Danny this site was built by our new plugin which you know I want you to be part of. I am struggling terribly with the website for it though as although the plugin is brilliant (even though I say it myself), I can't quite find a way to explain it to people. Once I've got my head around it that I'd like to speak to you. All I can tell you so far is that people who have used it in beta testing love it.
@SP65 - You are not wrong. The quality of the photo is very low. It was better, but when I showed the site to Dan Thies (no less) he told me the image was too heavy. He says that heavy images like that do a lot of damage to the site in Google. So we reduced it. In fact Dan reduced it. It's an issue as sites nowadays - like this one - demand large images. That site is on Incapsula so in other ways it performs well.Liz

MemberGood point. Might mention it to the client.

MemberHi Roger
Yes I am available for hire. I did that site the way the client wanted so I can do the same for you. That is my bespoke service. But I also offer two other ways of getting a site from me. Which you choose depends on your particular circumstances.
If you'd like to hear about it please reply to my email which I'll send to you at the address on your site.
regards
Liz

MemberThe social media icons are necessary.
Which theme are you using? And can you show me the site?
elizabeth
MemberOK - have changed the social media widgets to only show either at the top and bottom of posts or at the side, and have made the H2s on the home page bigger.
elizabeth
MemberWhy do you say it is "creeping". It stays put doesn't it?
elizabeth
MemberLucas - I think you are right about the H2 size. it would look better bigger - and thanks for the link. I'll ask the client if she'll allow me to increase the size of H2.
elizabeth
MemberMuch of what is on the screen is client request. But I think I will change it so that the social media widgets appear only when necessary so thank you for that feedback. On narrower screens the floating bar does not appear, so I can make the top /bottom ones disappear on wider screens so they are not both there.
The more tag isn't an image, it is a link. Thank you for looking.
