It looks like you're having a problem with your site not telling Google which is the canocial page.
You can fix it without installing Yoast's SEO plugin, but believe me, it'll save you hours of work if you just use the plugin. And it'll help with your SEO in general.
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberThe code used to load the post content on the home page is different from that used to load it on a post page.
I'm not 100 per cent sure if you can add the advert in that way on the home page. However, you could edit the home page template to display the advert before the loop in the same way that you have done with site on the blog posts.
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberIt depends on how the functions.php file and css have been changed.
I assume you're running Executive Pro, and not Executive (the old non-HTML5 version).
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberNot sure if it'll achieve what you're intending, but the easiest way to achieve exactly what you're asking for is to add a negative margin to the site-inner class.
Add margin-top: -140px underneath your custom padding-top.
It'll look like:
.site-inner { padding-top: 80px; padding-top: 8rem; margin-top: -140px; }
If you want the white background to hover even more over the brick background, you'll need to reduce the height of the padding top.
September 22, 2014 at 2:22 am in reply to: Text widget in header breaking the responsiveness #125268Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberOn line 2000, change the width back to 100% and then add text-align: center; to the id.
You also need to close the id with a }. Currently, there is one after it, but it's the the } to close the media enquiry, not the #text4 id.
It should look something like this:
#text-4 { width: 100%; text-align: center; }
Once you've done that, you can delete the #text-4 media enquiries from lines 2069 and 2091.
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberIt sounds like you need to change the permissions on the server. So you're definately going in the right direction.
However, changing the permissions is something that can open up your site to hackers. It might be worth contacting your VPS provider or asking this question on hosting/WP security forums. You might have a better chance of someone being able to answer your question.
September 22, 2014 at 2:05 am in reply to: AgencyPro Header height change effecting Primary Nav #125266Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberAs far as I can see, you've only got the Header Right menu activated. Check again and once it's live, post here again. I'll get a notification you've replied and I'll take another look.
I have a feeling I know what it is, but I'd rather just double check.
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberWhat you need to do is change the max-width and width properties of each element to percentages.
So for example, if your .site-inner class has a max-width of 1140px, you'd need to change it to 100%. You would also need to do that with the content, sidebar classes as well as various wraps to the width you want it. So content might be 70% width and sidebar might be 30% (a total of 100% width).
However.
I see from your code you've used website design software, which means making it full width will be long and time consuming. It also suggests to me you're not very comfortable with code.
If that is the case, it might be better for you to use the services of the ever helpful Sridhar. You can find his Genesis Customisation service website below.

Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberIn your first media enquiry, you've added a condition to the body. It's set to force a minimum width of 1200px when the site has a max-width of 1200px. That means it'll force the width to be wider than the screen itself.
@media only screen and (max-width: 1200px) { body { min-width: 1200px; } .site-container { max-width: 1200px; } }
Either remove it (it isn't necessary) or change it to be max-width (as below):
body { max-width: 1200px; }
That should solve your problem.
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberDo you mean the option itself isn't appearing?
Have you made any changes to the functions.php file of the one that it isn't appearing on?
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberDo you have any media enquiries that are causing that to happen? I can't tell from my end as the site isn't loading.
September 22, 2014 at 1:38 am in reply to: Home Widget loading Order Causing Delays – Agency Child Theme #125261Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberI'm not sure it's possible to pre-load Genesis Responsive Slider.
If you're only using it to display pictures and text, try Soliloquy Lite. It's the free version of the amazing SoliloquyWP slider.
If you do, simply make sure you select the pre-load option and it'll load the frame immediately to prevent that movement of elements around the page.
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberI'm just finishing off building a Genesis-based custom site for a recruitment agency. I opted to use the WP Job Board plugin. It has a couple of minor quirks (mainly to do with placeholders etc), but to be honest, it's the best one I've seen out there. http://wpjobboard.net/
August 26, 2014 at 1:08 pm in reply to: First Genesis site, a bit plain? For a driving school #121179Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberDon't forget, most internet marketing techniques are designed to acquire the visitor – not the lead. That's the domain of conversion optimisation.
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberThe link at the bottom of the thread Kelly linked to had a list of Woo ready Genesis themes.
http://genesisthemes.ca/theme_feature/woocommerce-integration/
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberI'm not sure.
The CSS controlling the colour is inline. That suggests that there is an option in the widget's options to change it.
That would be the first place to look.
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberCheck your Genesis settings. You might need to turn it back on.
If you can't find the options in the Genesis settings, then take a look in your functions.php file and see if this code is there.
//* Removes Genesis SEO options remove_action( 'genesis_site_title', 'genesis_seo_site_title' ); remove_action( 'admin_menu', 'genesis_add_inpost_seo_box' ); remove_theme_support( 'genesis-seo-settings-menu' );
If it is, delete it.
Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberIf we followed the letter of the law as set by Google, sites with large hero images should technically be punished by its Top Heavy algorithm. However, Google seems not to have gone through with this of late – largely because that layout is best practice from a conversion perspective for sites that are selling a single product or service do convert better with that sort of layout.
(P.S. It's also a great approach for internal pages on product/service sites).
However, there are some caveats to that. They are not converting because of the image. They are converting because of the messaging. The H1 should speak immediately to the visitor "Save time with..." "Get more leads with..." etc, followed by a subheader that expands on the first point.
The best converting ones are those with specific calls to action – "Start your free trial today" or "Find out more" (which scrolls down the page to other content).
Remember, it's not about having a pretty image. The image that should make it attractive and captivating, but it needs to strengthen and reinforce the H1 and call to action.
I'm a strong believer that Google is dead wrong on its minimum character and word limits on pages. Yes, many websites do need to have strong content. However, sites that are aimed at selling a service should not be punished by this.
Next time you're out and about, look at posters and billboards. They don't have tons of text on them for one specific reason – it was realised back in the 50s that overloading people with text doesn't work. That's why 50 years later, billboards and advertisements are more devoid of text than ever. It's all about getting the message and call to action across in as little time as possible – largely because we have so many distractions, you have less time to get it across.
Also, with regards to the font sizes increasing, this is a very good thing. The absolute minimum a site's font should be is 16px – ideally 18px. I can read things fine, but having worked in the media and been a group editor for a magazine and website division before getting into SEO and web design, I understand the importance of using a readable font and font-size.

Ben @ Inbound CreativeMemberIn your CSS file, go to line 829.
You should see the following code:
.enews-widget { color: #999; }
Change it to:
.enews-widget { color: #333; }
